Ma Belle Amie is a small café in Albion that sells cutesy bits and bobs on the side. It looks like it was part of a Frankie ‘local business’ photo shoot. The girls behind the counter are just as pretty and cute as the bright blue floral wall paper they’ve wrapped the shop up in.
The bits and bobs sold in store are unique and reasonably priced. Often times you can find the works of local craftsmen in here. I’m going to go ahead and recommend this shop as a great place to get gifts for people. I thought the silicon patty cake baking cups designed to look like crowns were a great gift idea for kids. The beginners origami set ($ 13) was something I had to put back and chant «wait until next pay, wait until next pay». Then there were the local and handmade embroidered bobby pins– one had a smiling face– the other, a sad one. Swoon!
The coffee is delicious. Treat yourself and go have a sit in coffee at Ma Belle Amie. You’ll feel ever so bright and pretty in this cosy little environment. Before you leave, check out the wares. Yesterday I brought a small flamingo bird toy for a friend I haven’t seen in a long while. I’m going to mail it to her as a «I’m thinking about you» gift. I must have been inspired by the sign outside the store that says «Ma Belle Amie: A place for beautiful friendships».

Let me get this out there first. This is definitely a shop for the women, ladies and effeminate men who like the cutesy thing in home décor and shopping. For the Hetero man this is a joint you need to go to if you are struggling to find something for your girlfriend’s birthday and you’re up at the Albion pub for lunch.
Now, Ma Belle Amie is a more of a retail shop that sells some cakes and makes coffee. The coffee here is not the best and I’m sure in time as the demand for more coffee increases the staff will skill up a bit more to make a nicer drop.
As a shop, its bright and fun and the staff know everything about the specialty French décor of sale. Actually the staff are really great and will be able to help you with any of your shopping queries.
