I’m probably not the best person to review this place — I don’t buy workwear, and I’m not fashionable so don’t wear jeans. But I have purchased basics(by Mesop) and shoes(Alegria and Birkenstock), and that’s why I keep coming back. Only problem is, Trims no longer stock many shoes(except Converse and Doctor Martins), and their basic Australian brands like Mesop have disappeared. There are still a lot of jeans and Bonds brand, but in my opinion you can get these from anywhere! Trims is also great for people who like outdoor pursuits(or like to dress as if they are) … again, I’m not qualified to comment on these brands ;) I might come back here to check in a few months time, to see if their range has increased. When I’ve asked sales staff, they just shrugged!

After a fruitless search for my size of hospitality clog/boot/I-still-don’t-know-what-they’re-actually-called-shoe-thing we were pointed in the direction of Trims. I always pictured them as ‘workwear’ and didn’t realise that hospitality fit nicely into that category. After a quick phone call they’d checked their stock and were already ready when I arrived to quickly grab the sizes I needed. Unfortunately I’d given them the wrong model number, but without any trouble the correct shoes were found. They don’t only get props for being the only place around to stock the shoes I needed in my size, but they also had great friendly service. I haven’t checked out their regular clothing section for years, but workwear has got it going on.

Not really my style and located somewhat further than shops in the city really should be, I’d say that it’s lucky that there is enough in this store to keep people entertained for a substantial amount of time. Whether they be for a male or a female, Trims has it covered. In fact if clothes could fit under genres, then Trims would be the genre Queen because there is just THAT much variety here. Especially within this specific store. I personally think Trims is best for basics, and probably also best when shopping for the XY male species. However woman can also most definitely find themselves well-priced attire of various sorts. As Scott mentioned in his review it’s great to support a South Australian icon, so why not stop by once in awhile because… it’s heaps good.

Trims really is a clothing store that has it all… Well at least a taste of everything, with many strings to their medium sized bow. It’s approach is old fashioned in that they present fashion brands and workwear in the same space. The variety is fantastic — * They have an extensive offering of jeans, Levi, Lee and wrangler, amongst others. * A good selection of fashion clothes targeted at the 20s market, brands like quirky circus, ladakh, mink pink, industrie and cooper st. * Solid range of bonds products. * Good selection of fashion footwear, including extensive Dr Marten and Converse ranges as well as some birkenstock stuff * Workwear(King Gee, etc) * Fluro work vests * Office wear(I think they even sell suits) * Travel goods — lightweight, quick dry, iron free clothing and some limited luggage and accessories * thermal underwear * chef’s clothing * Australiana like RM Williams and Akubra So I find this a very useful place. Sign up for their Trims VIP card and they’ll give you 10% off all your purchases.

There are fewer and fewer things now-a-days that you can say are really South Australian and have been for A BILLIONYEARS!!! He says with his little finger against his mouth with a Dr Evil smirk. Trims has been trading in SA since 1937, making it just under A BILLIONYEARSOLD! The original store is still on King William Street in the city and, although the range has expanded, they are still mainly known for stocking hard wearing clothing(Jeans, Shoes and Work Wear). I used to head there many years back as they had the best range of Bowls Whites in town… things have changed, but I still pop in from time to time to ‘aussie’ myslef up a bit! Next time you think ‘reckon I need me a new pair of Steel Caps’ or ‘Damn, my Akubra has been hacked up by the dog a few too many times’ head on down to Trims and boost up an SA business.
