Little Worn Wardrobe

Tina, the owner operator, has just had a baby, so you are more likely to be met by one of her extended family at the moment in this cute little store off the beaten track. Whoever does meet you in the store will happily let you browse through the many many bargains from the old days. There are some really amazing pieces of fashion here, everything you could want, and the prices are pretty reasonable. Some people love the old stuff, some hate it. I am quite fond of the shirts and ties for blokes that have survived since the 1950’s and 60’s.
It is always a bit of an inspiration to check out what there is hanging off the rack, and sometimes I’m tempted to make a purchase but I generally resist. I have visited the store with friends who go quite silly and make several purchases. This sort of behaviours always makes me feel as though I have been of assistance somehow; facilitated someone finding the bargain they were desperately searching for.
The material is always fresh, and although there is a somewhat specific scent of pre-​loved clothing, it’s not a stinky shop. I mean you can smell that things are old usually even if they have come out of the laundry nice and fresh, they still have a scent about them, possibly because you don’t get the same types of materials in fashion now, as you did back then… I’m not exactly sure. The website is a Facebook page, so you’d probably require a membership of that social network to look through what they offer there — possibly easier to head on in to the store.
As Tina has recently given birth I am told the hours may be a little here and there, so you may want to call first just to be completely sure.

I like to regularly visit all the pre-​loved clothing around Adelaide, and this is one of my favourites. It’s also just across the road from one of my other favourites — Red Ruby Vintage.
Little Worn have a really great range — I find it is more extensive and reasonably priced than many Adelaide vintage stores. The collection features both dressier stuff and a lot of the more casual but unusual designs from the seventies, eighties and nineties. Little Worn sits somewhere between the labels ‘vintage’ and ‘pre-​loved’. There is a definite personality to the collection of stuff selected, but not the strict collection of beautiful fifties/​sixties dresses and coats in great condition that you might see at some of the pricier vintage stores around town. I find that clothes I buy from Little Worn are things I am more likely to wear everyday. There is enough variety that I have a fun time searching for stuff I like, but not so large I feel overwhelmed or annoyed by crowding.
I work next door at Format, and have watched Tina and her team restore this disused space into what it is now, on a very very limited budget. I like that the prices aren’t inflated by overly fancy décor! They occasionally host art shows featuring amateur and up-​and-​coming artists, with bands playing later in the night. Whatever you buy is always wrapped in sweet brown paper packaging. Little Worn take EFTPOS now too — much to my dismay as it makes it much harder to resist.
