History

Established in 2009.

Credit Union SA is South Australia’s third largest credit union, with seven branches, over $ 800 million in assets and just under 50,000 Members.

We were formed on 1 October 2009 by a merger between former South Australian credit unions Satisfac and Powerstate, which had their origins in the education and industrial sectors respectively. Both organisations were renowned for their local knowledge, hence Credit Union SA’s chosen tag-​line, «knowledge counts».

As a customer owned banking organisation, we are not driven by the need to return dividends to shareholders in the manner of the major banks. As a result, we’re able to channel the profits we generate back to our Membership and broader community.

If you are wanting an alternative to the big banks, this is it! Friendly staff, competitive rates and products and the profits that they make go back into the products that they offer.
Really good, low rates on their home and personal loans and a really good credit card product too. The branch staff in King William street are very friendly. If you are sick of being treat like a number by your bank then you should give this local, member owned and trusted organisation a go!

I am constantly impressed by Credit Union SA. This was once a small credit union only open to teachers and their families, but now it is open to all. My partner has always had an account here (when it was Satisfac), so when we chose our home loan provider, we came here.
Everything here is quick and easy, and the staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Every time I have found my old credit union to not have a great deal, Credit Union SA has come up trumps. Today I even added more services to my account, due to their lack of fees (unlike my old Credit Union).
This is a very small credit union, and there aren’t many staff working here — but they’re fantastic! Credit Union SA is what all the credit unions in South Australia used to be like, before the economic downturn. Sometimes larger doesn’t necessarily mean better ;)
