In the process of updating the electrical panel in our basement, we found mold growing behind the drywall and around the electrical panel itself. With a newborn in our house, getting this solved fast was of paramount importance. After researching multiple companies, we decided to go with Servpro of Wilmette.
I talked with Steve (the owner) and explained the problem to him, he told me that he would send his guy Dave and his crew to assess the problem and begin the remediation of the mold. Boy are we glad that he did. Dave was great to work with and really put our minds at ease throughout the entire process. Not only did they clean all our surfaces, protect valuables and remove the mold, but they also checked other areas of the basement for signs of mold (which thankfully didn’t show up).
Upon completion of the job, I had an outside firm perform a mold remediation and air quality test in the basement and Servpro passed with flying colors, even going above and beyond what was expected.
I would highly recommend Servpro of Wilmette for their great work and professionalism. They helped make a scary issue, easy to deal with.

My elderly parents had a mold issue in their basement in Skokie this past spring, and a neighbor suggested that I call Will Althouse and his team at SERVPRO in Winnetka/​Wilmette/​Skokie. So glad I did! They came and assessed the situation, found the source of the issue (foundation leak), and got to fixing the problem right away. They contained the entire basement with plastic walls, removed all of the moldy wall paneling, and relocated all of the furniture from the basement to another part of the house. My parents were thrilled with the attention to detail, the communication about the work that was being done, and that the price was right. A Chicago storm caught us off guard, flooding our basement along with a lot of our stored belongings. Our unit was the only one in the building to flood and apparently had a history of it (we just moved in). The condo association sent a different company for remediation, and what a botched job that was. They didn’t bother to pull the soaked carpet and pads in most of the space, and simply placed their driers on top of the carpet. Needless to say, it soon started to stink of mildew. That’s when we took matters into our own hands and called Servpro of Skokie to help. We worked with Will and Erick. You couldn’t ask for a more competent team. They quickly confirmed our suspicions that the previous company didn’t know what the heck they were doing. Our items were repacked where necessary and quickly moved into their own storage facility in Skokie while they properly cleaned up and until the repairs could be made by our landlord. The remediation, pack out, and put back were all handled with the utmost professionalism and we felt our belongings were in good hands and well taken care of. And all for a very reasonable price. I don’t think you can hire a Chicago mover for what we paid, and certainly not a mover AND storage. So happy with them. A+++. I hope I never have to relive that experience but if I do, I’m calling Will and his team again!

Servpro of Skokie came out to look at some basement water under the flooring. They said their equipment measured zero moisture, even though there was visible water. My understanding of their proposal was that they would put plastic wrap over the laminate flooring and to blow fans in between the plastic wrap and the flooring. Furthermore they said they would put some type of proprietary chemical on the surface of the laminate that would somehow penetrate the surface and prevent mold.
Castino restoration came out and their equipment correctly detected 100% moisture under the flooring. Castino as well as another remediation company and a flooring company said that laminate flooring is not permeable; and that Servpro’s proposal didn’t sound like it could be an effective remediation. They said that mold could grow if the flooring wasn’t lifted to expose the underside for direct drying.
Furthermore, when I called and asked Servpro to return to check that their sensors weren’t faulty, they refused.
Their management told me they wanted me to remove this review. It’s not a mistake.

My wife and I are new to the Chicago area. We had just moved in to a new apartment, and two days later the basement floods with all our unpacked boxes on the floor. Terrible. We called Will Althouse at Servpro of Winnetka /​Wilmette /​Skokie, and were so happy we did! Very good price for the excellent service provided. We were impressed time and again with Will’s knowledge, experience, and professionalism in a very stressful time. They were there so quick! I can not recommend them highly enough. I would certainly use them again.

Call them!
A year and a half ago… our basement flooded. And just two weeks ago… I had sewage back up into my house. For some strange reason I couldn’t remember who I used for the clean-​up/​demolition. I called my insurance as I had before and got the name of Service Master. As I went through the second process I realized that this was not the company I used before. What a difference compared to SERVPRO!
If you have flooding and need a remediation service, call them! They are professional, ethical… and get the job done. They only remove what is absoutely necessary and are very sanitary throughout the clean up process!

We had unfortunate accident and a pipe froze and burst in our basement apartment. Thank God I had renters insurance and flood coverage (that was extra, but not much). I looked here on Unilocal for Help.
Jeff from servpro came right out, I mean right out. They removed the excess water from floors and carpets, gave me referrals of other people who came right out too.
They left blowers and driers to deal with the remaining moisture.
They were able to work with my insurance, and most importantly, he held my hand and made me feel it was all going to be OK as they sucked up gallons and gallons of water from my apartment and its waterlogged contents.
Stop right here and call them now if you are in need of their services.

It says they are under carpet cleaning, which I know they do, but I used them for water damage cleanup and restoration.
I am blessed, just as most Chicagoans, to have a basement that floods anytime we get a storm. Usually I can clean it up myself and the damages aren’t that bad, but thankfully Servpro was on call for me the last major storm, in which I needed help! (My mom’s back is getting bad and I couldn’t do all the work myself).
They came out real quick and got the job done very efficiently. The workers were really nice and easy to communicate with. And the price was extremely reasonable!
They not only got rid of the water that I could see, but they also made sure that all the moisture was out of the walls too. Then they used disinfectant to ensure mold wouldn’t grow.
There are just so many little things people never even realize to do when their place floods, thank god for servpro! I would recommend them to anyone!
