History

Established in 2011.

Inspired by a desire to bring people of various cultures together Judy Duncan became a certified tea specialist. In 2011 she launched new tea line K’Tizo Tea. A line of premium teas, tisanes & blends that are delicious & intentional about revealing aspects of culture that help people to connect. The tea line was initially sold on-line & at farmer’s markets. May 18, 2012 K’Tizo Tea debuted at the Wheaton French Market, other farmer’s markets: Winfield, Glen Ellyn, Yorktown, Geneva French & Aurora. A wholesale line began at the Wheaton College Bookstore & The Sugar Path Bakery Café, Geneva. K’Tizo was sold in holiday pop-up shops in downtown Wheaton during winter months & community shows. June of 2014 Café K’Tizo opened giving K’Tizo Tea a brick & mortar home for the tea & for tea events that bring culture, tea & people together. K’Tizo launched its business with monthly giving to International Justice Mission (IJM). IJM fights the biggest disconnection of society human trafficking.

Meet the Business Owner

Judy D.

Business Owner

Judy started K’Tizo Tea with a vision for a cultural arts café where people, tea & art could come together and create community: Café K’Tizo. Judy was raised in Chicago, worked as a RN among a variety of cultures as well as with inner city youth & has hosted several international students, each of these experiences contributing to her appreciation for cultural heritage. Judy believes art helps us understand each other, awakening us to the deeper aspects of life. The tag line «Awaken the Soul» reveals a desire for deeper awareness. As a follower of Jesus, Judy believes part of our purpose in life is to promote healthy community among all types of people. Café K’Tizo encourages people to gather together around refreshing beverages while celebrating life. Judy lives in West Chicago with her husband Bruce, who is from Wheaton. Each of their adult children (Elisabeth, Sara, Hannah & Andrew) & international children (Andy, Ben & Kellan) fuel Judy & Bruce’s passion for tea, people & culture.
