Jenn is a genius. Jenn is an artist. Jenn is literally the hair specialist I have been looking for my entire life.
Her color work, her cuts, her keratin treatments and her extensions are impeccable. She has amazing taste and is a perfectionist. I learned early on to relax into the chair and let her do her thing, because she nails it every time.
I’ve been going to Jenn for 4 years now, and frankly hope that no one else will ever have to touch my hair again. It’s never looked better, and people frequently compliment and rave about my hair (never the case before I went to her…).

I loved this little nook of a salon, and am sad it’s no longer there! I liked the intimacy and privacy of coming here. Jenn’s haircuts are stellar, and she will spend the time necessary to get it right for you. I’m sure she will do well wherever she is currently located.

Jenn is fantastic. A small intimate boutique overlooking Doheney that does feel like a bit of a nest: She’s great with color — (uses a less harsh process) and I leave feeling like I’m in a movie — or at least have the hair for it. She’s also great at assessing your hair style in relation to your face structure. Like what cut will make your eyes pop, or in my case, give you a chin.
She’s got hilarious stories and gives good therapy. Not much more you’d want.
Oh! Also, she listens to what you want. Like she’s opinionated because she knows her stuff, but will also do what you prefer. Dig that in a stylist.

I have followed Katie Ittner through at least two salon moves now (even though each time she gets farther away!!) because she is an absolute genius when it comes to color and a complete perfectionist when it comes to cut. Although she is a little pricey, she’s good about not selling you extra stuff that you won’t appreciate (for example, she’s been doing highlights for me for years, two colors of highlights even, and they’ve always looked great, but as I’m getting more grays now she’s actually doing less and getting beautiful results!). As you can see from the many reviews that say they’ve moved away but still make appts with her whenever they’re back in town, she really is just that good. Whether you want the sort of hair that everyone will notice, or the sort that will just look great without calling too much attention to itself, Katie is gonna be your hair’s new best friend.

This review is super overdue, but I am finally catching up on all of my Unilocal reviews today. I have been seeing Jenn at Nest salon for over a year now. She does regular Keratin treatments on my hair as well as an occasional trim. I am trying to grow my hair back out after chopping it all off on a whim a few years ago. Having keratin treatments at Nest salon has helped me grow my processed blonde hair, while keeping it looking healthy, shiny and full and I am so grateful. I get complements on my hair all the time. I have had keratin treatments at 4 other salons in the LA area and Jenn is hands down the best! Her prices are also very reasonable. I should also mention that she is a sweetheart and super fun to talk to, which is helpful when you have a treatment that takes hours. Bring your hair here, you will not regret it.

Katie is brilliant, every time. Whether you have some conceptual idea of something simple or crazy in mind or or just let her think of something either way she will astound you every single time. I’ve come to her with some of the crazier color and cut ideas and she’s always nailed it. Never once has she burned my scalp with bleach or even irritated it with the bleach… and is have that happen A LOT with other stylists, she’s always perfect. I’ve also gone in and said I need something new but edgy and have no idea what to do and let her just work her magic and of always leave superbly happy with my results. Plus she’s a lot of fun to talk to for the hours you sit in her chair.
I went to her every time during the six years I lived in LA and have contemplated flying back there to have her do my hair again. Ha! …seriously though, she’s amazing, best stylist I’ve ever had

Jenn is phenomenal — I couldn’t recommend her more highly! She is a true professional when it comes to hair… my blonde highlights have never looked this fabulous! Definitely the best salon experience I’ve had in my 14 years in California…

I moved away from LA 3 years ago, but whenever I am in town I make sure to see Katie if I can. She does an amazing, precise hair cut that flatters. She is awesome at natrual highlights or more creative color. I had followed Katie to Nest from a couple other salons in LA. I miss her! See her if you can.

I have been seeing Jenn as my stylist for years now. I love the work she does, she’s truly an artist with a vast understanding of hair and how to frame a person’s face to suit their style and look.
the salon itself has a really homey-​rustic-​vibe to it. centrally located off Doheny and Santa Monica. there’s plenty of street parking and you can grab a latte from the café next door afterwards! (one stone, two birds, right?)
I absolutely refer her to anyone who’s looking for the bomb hairstylist in LA!

If you are looking for someone who can do a great blonde, Jen is your gal!
She has done a magnificent job at making me the exact blonde I want to be and more importantly should be. This is a talent that has been lost on many other hair stylists. My hair is curly and pretty coarse and she works with it wonderfully! On another note she is really easy and fun to talk to, so the time seems to fly by! I would highly recommend Jen and I look forward to being her client for a long time!

Nest is best for those who want the «private room» environment without the extra charge.
I loved my experience in this quiet, upstairs salon that was more like an in home color and style than like going to a loud, chaotic BH salon like the ones you can find just a mile west. It was clean, well appointed, and quaint. Right above Le Conversation on Doheny (grab a coffee and croissant on your way in!)
My color is fantastic! I didn’t have a coupon and felt it was worth every penny!

I can’t rave enough about Nest Salon! I recently moved here from New York and had a terrible color experience from another salon in the area at my first appointment since moving here. Panic stricken, I needed to find someone skilled who was experienced in color correction for blonde hair to restore it back to my original color! I found Jenn at Nest Salon while searching on Unilocal and decided to take a chance — and was SO glad that I did!
Jenn did an amazing job on my color correction and gave me the «taupe/​beige» blonde combo that I wanted. She has an awesome personality and is very knowledgeable about the science of hair, understanding the dynamics of how color behaves and how to produce beautiful results. You cannot go wrong with Jenn. She listens carefully and is a strong communicator, working with you to achieve the results that you want. Her services are reasonably priced — and the salon environment is very charming and relaxed.
I would recommend her to EVERYONE!!!

I brought a LivingSocial deal for a Keratin treatment late last year that I decided to cash in this year. I wanted to set up an appointment for a weekend, and no one seemed to be available to take me on.
After playing a long game of phone tag with Melody, I finally scheduled a treatment with Melody. Unfortunately I had to pay the remaining cost of the treatment as my LivingSocial deal expired (kind of weird, considering I wanted to schedule something before it expired, and they weren’t available to take me on… but ok.)
Onto the actual treatment, I feel pretty unhappy. My hair is pretty thick and tangly, and it was literally quite painful to have Melody yank at it. I also think the actual treatment they use is probably subpar quality. I was super careful about not letting water or sweat anywhere near my hair for the 24 hours following the treatment, but yet the first time I washed my hair, it became quite poofy and the roots were slightly wavy (nothing too noticeable by others, but *I* was able to.)
All in all, I probably wouldn’t go back there again.

Melody is INCREDIBLE!
She did a color correction on my hair and got my hair to the lightest shade of blonde it’s ever been (on my way to platinum from black, tough stuff!!). She thoroughly explained what she was doing, when she was doing it and why. It definitely put me at ease and made my experience more pleasant. Oh, and on top of that, she was rad to hang out with for 2 hours!
Love the ambiance of the salon also, way more charming and intimate than any other salon I’ve been to!

I went to get a Keratin Treatment and a cut three weeks ago and it was awesome. Jenn is a lot of fun to talk to, even after 3 hours it didn’t get awkward. She’s funny and sweet and tells you exactly what she is doing to your hair during the process. My hair looked great and still does. Really easy to manage, shiny and smooth.
I will definitely go back in 2 months and get the same package! Even the décor is beautiful! Very cozy and charming little salon! Thumbs up for Nest Salon! Can only recommend it!

I loved Nest Salon and Jenn from the moment I walked in. She was incredibly friendly and intuitive and I really enjoyed our conversation throughout the process. The space inside the salon was absolutely gorgeous. If in another life I became a salon owner, I would want it to look exactly like Nest — and that is saying a lot!
Jenn did a keratin treatment and a cut on my dreadfully frizzy, dry hair, and 3 hours later I could not stop staring at myself in the mirror. As soon as I left the salon I called my mother immediately to tell her that my hair had NEVER looked better in life — and when I sent her photos, she agreed.
I couldn’t be happier with how my hair turned out. For anyone (like me) who has had some fairly traumatic experiences at hair salons, go see Jenn. You will enjoy your time there and you’ll leave looking even better than you could have hoped.

ASK FOR SHERYL! Honestly, I’ve been trying to grow my thick, straw-​like, Irish hair out for three years now. I just want long thick hair but it keeps breaking on the ends forcing me to get layers. Every time I go to a salon they try to get me to color it, chop it way too short or leave tons of dead ends. I just want long natural, healthy hair! Sheryl actually listened to what I wanted, suggested a Keratin treatment and then trimmed up all the dead ends. It’s still long and it’s healthier than it’s ever been. I’m definitely going to keep going back to her. I feel like I’ve FINALLY found someone that can help me reach my goal.
Nest is a little tough to find but it feels so exclusive and homey. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and the people there are all really friendly. It doesn’t feel like a Beverly Hills douchebag salon. It feel like having you’re own personal stylist.
There’s ample parking in the area and one of my favorite breakfast places is right next door (La Conversation). I totally, totally recommend checking out Sheryl is you’re looking for an amazing stylist.

Review has been long overdue!!! I’ve been to so many people out here to try and get a natural, pretty blonde… and Jen is the only person who makes my hair look amazing! I have brown hair and went to about 5 different places in L. A…(some top notch salons, some hipster ones) and no one could get me to the blonde I wanted. I just wanted natural blonde! Jen rocked it. The salon is so cozy and I feel like I’m going to my girlfriends house to hang out, chat, and listen to rad music. She is so cool and funny and I feel so comfortable with her. I’m constantly asked who does my color by random people, and even my mom (who is the most critical person in the world and thinks only her hair colorist is God) even says to me «damn. your hair looks good.»

As a transplanted NYer, it took me awhile to find my people in LA. I’m not talking about finding my friends, I’m talking about finding my nail salon, my waxing person, my mechanic, and, of course, my hair salon. I am ecstatic to report here, on Unilocal,that after 12 years I have found my salon and my Jen! The search is over, and I have never looked better…
From the very first phone call (which Jen answered) I knew this girl was cool. Jen was incredibly down-​to-​earth, funny, and real! No BS or pretense with her. So when I walked into her beautiful oasis of a salon, I had a feeling this was going to be a positive experience. On my first visit, Jen did a keratin treatment and gave me an amazing cut. I have very curly, frizzy hair, and you curly girls out there know that not everyone knows how to cut curly hair. My hair has never been silkier and I get compliments on my hair like I never have before.
I went back today for color, which I desperately needed after doing it myself for over a year. Jen never made me feel bad about the disaster that was the roots vs. the ends of my multitonal ‘do. Instead, she instilled total confidence that she would find a color that looked natural, and she did. I write this now feeling so good about my color, which is very natural, but richer with no signs of grey (isn’t that what we all want?!).
Nest Salon is truly a rare find, and I am so incredibly happy that I found it, and found Jen. Now give yourself a present and check it out for yourself!

For serious… I am not saying this lightly. Jen is an artist.
I am a makeup artist and have been on some of the most high budget, high-​end photo shoots and Jen blows them all out of the water. I get asked at least 3 times a week where I get my hair done. I’m talking random strangers stop me to inquire where I get my locks rocked. Now, with most salons, you get one person who does cut, another who does color, and another who is an extension specialist. Jen does them all extremely well. Oh, she also does a killer Keratin blowout (best I’ve had, and I’ve been chemically straightening my hair for over 10 years).
Also, the salon feels like a private cozy apartment and she plays amazing music. I cannot rave about Jen and Nest enough!
