Dr Barakeh is one of the most competent opthomologists I have ever encountered. Having some semi complex problems with my eyesight I went to three docs who examined me and said,“can’t help you”. In desperation I went to Walnut Creek eye Medical and met Dr Barakeh. He diagnosed my problem accurately, preformed some minor surgery (without ANY pain) corrected my vision and gave me back my qualiiy of life! To see again! I’m 65 and i see like a 20 year old. He is kind, competent, and tells the truth! I was informed every step of the way. God bless him for what he did. and the great deal on frames/​lenses was a bonus. One of the best in the bay area. Very soff spoken and very competent besides! See him you won’t be sorry!

I made a follow up appointment with DR Barakeh for 10:30 6 months ago. A field of vision test was done in approximately 15 minutes. I then waited for 45 minutes and the doctor was still not available. I left his office explaining to the desk that my wife is dealing with multiple cancers; I am sole caretaker and I have to schedule coverage when I am gone. Dr Barakeh called, explained my field of vision had decreased and I needed to come back. No apolgy for being over an hour late was offered. I specifically explained my care taker requirements for my wife to Dr Barakeh and asked for an appointment where I could be seen on time. I showed up early for an 8:30 appointment on 2÷9÷15. I waited until 8:45 and he was not in the office. I left with my chart and was very upset. I scheduled this appointment and arranged a caretaker for my wife. As I left with my chart I had one member of his staff following me done the sidewalk calling me a jerk. A second member called my cell phone and told me I was «stealing.» I have my chart, intend to post my frustration on Unilocal and also will call medicare to insure they are not billed for services not rendered. The entire experience lacks professionalism, respect for the patient and a total disregard for my care provider requirements as it relates to my wife.

Saw him today for the first time and I will say I am very impressed. He is very personable, knowledgeable, and takes his time to explain things. The office is pretty outdated but I feel that this didn’t matter since he is such a wonderful doctor.

I had a silly eye injury which left me with a huge black eye and some damage to my vision. After spending a lovely evening in the San Leandro emergency room, I found Dr. Barakeh to followup on eye care. Dr. Barakeh took time to explain everything he saw and treatment. Two days after seeing Dr. Barakeh, my eye feels better and my vision is almost 100% back. He has a sense of humor and is down to earth and smart. I believe this will be my eye doctor from now on. I will be going back to get my new glasses At Walnut Creek Eye Medical Group as well.

I was not a customer, but I don’t work for him. He let me shadow him and ask him questions about being an osteopathic doctor, so hopefully this review counts and doesn’t get flagged.
As someone who has shadowed him, I would say that I can give a pretty comprehensive review of him and his staff. He is extremely personable, approachable, helpful and truly concerned about his patients. You can tell he also is very nice to all his staff as well (a huge plus). The break/​snack/​lunch area in the back is filled with all sorts of snacks and goodies. If you walk into a workplace and there is nothing on the «sharing table», when you open the fridge to see lots of Tupperware with _​_​_​_​only, don’t touch… you know there’s somethings a rift in the workplace. Not here, its all sharing caring quite pleasant really. I even got offered some cookies!
His practice is situated in a little plaza of some sort. Many other medical services are there too. The staff is genuinely nice. I’m not used to that so its really great for a change. Maybe it’s just walnut creek. The patients are usually older, coming in for age related vision issues. I did see a teen coming in for issues with contacts. You know when you sleep with your contacts and it feels ok… and you let it pass. Well, you shouldn’t. If you sleep with your contacts in for too long, they get stuck, start hurting and then you have to come in to see Dr. Joe Barakeh.
I’ve seen him explain procedures to patients and he really simplifies it for them using cool eyeball props. Going under the knife for eye surgery is very scary. There are many what if’s. However, he is able to calm them down. He has a gentle touch and I think he speaks a couple different languages… Spanish and German?

I have been coming to Walnut Creek Eye Medical my entire life and cannot say enough good things about them. Outside of my family, this is the longest sustained relationship with any person, place or thing I’ve ever had. 28 years later and we are still going strong.
I have to see the eye doctor more than you’re average bear. so I think it is fair to say I know what I’m talking about in terms of good eye care. I have received nothing but the best from the folks here, and in fact am often treated like family.
I recently had secondary lens implant surgery (best thing I’ve ever done) with Dr. Drucker, and I am so glad I did not go anywhere else. From my scheduling to my post surgical appointments everything was handled flawlessly (special shout out to Rosa).
Simply the best, I will never go anywhere else even if i move far far away (like my sis who lives in NYC and still comes here for her eye exams).
