This place is so kid (and adult!) friendly. It’s got something for everyone– coffee, bubble tee, cupcakes, ice cream and candy and toys! Its location is great although the parking can be challenging if you go during a busy time of the day. I’ve ordered many cakes from here and people will rave about how they’ve never tasted anything so good! Their chocolate cake with chocolate ganache is a chocolate lover’s dream. I have not had their cupcakes but I’ve heard that they are just as great as Sugar’s.
The owners are very kind and friendly as well. I’ve come here to find unique candy also as they have pretty much any type you’re looking for.
Lastly, I want to mention that this place serves bubble tea– not many places have this delicious drink. I suggest you try it.

I visit this place frequently and have ordered cupcakes and cakes for special occasions. Their staff are always responsive, friendly, and accommodating. Their cupcakes are consistently delicious and I’ve never had a problem with my orders. Attached is a picture of a birthday cake, my latest special request, just as I described it, and everyone enjoyed it! I even got a mini one for a cake smash!

I love the cupcakes here! My girlfriend and I come here all the way from Branford when we’re in the mood for cupcakes! The cannoli, lemon/​raspberry & turtle cupcakes are to die for!

Such a cute shop! Love the selection of goodies here even though I try so hard to stay away. Ice cream, baked goods, cakes and more. Definitely recommend.

This place makes what are possibly the most addicting cupcakes I have ever eaten! I have been visiting Mr. D’s for the last couple of years, and they have yet to disappoint. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love seeing all the vintage candy as you walk in the store. Certainly worth breaking a diet for their chocolate peanut butter cupcakes!!!

I just wandered in after having lunch in the area. I met the owner who could not have been friendlier. If you have a sweet tooth, you must go to this place. I saw that they also have a nice sugar free selection too.

Really wasn’t impressed. Went there to get cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday. Although the cupcakes are labeled interesting flavors they all taste the same and the cake itself is grocery store quality. The frosting was dyed the appropriate color to match the name but had no corresponding flavor just a basic sugary frosting.

$ 5 minimum on credit cards… ANNOYING!
Tried a salted mocha cupcake… it was ok. Cake part seemed pretty generic. Frosting was way to sweet; but the flavors were there: salt, chocolate and coffee.
The girl behind the counter clearly did not want to be there. Not outwardly rude but no courtesy extended.
Pretty «meh» experience. May be back to try the ice cream.

Honestly the best place to go to when you’re in a stressful situation. This place is filled with joy and nice staff. It will leave me with memories to look back on.

I ordered a cupcake cake for my Sons first birthday pictures. I went in Monday around 4:30 and told the girls what I wanted and what I was looking for. They were sweet, but unfortunately kind of useless. The repeated lines were «I don’t know if she can do that», «oh yeah that sounds good but I don’t know». We ended up deciding that the baker should call me the next day when she was in. The next day comes and goes and no phone call. So I take initiative and call.
When I called, the gentleman who answered the phone was courteous as can be but had no idea what I was talking about. After about 10 minutes of him locating my cake order, he put the baker on the phone and she said that she could do what I was looking for and it would be ready for a Thursday pm pickup. Great! I was a discouraged that there was no system in place for her to call me, not her fault if she didn’t know — but what would I have received if I didn’t call?
Anyways — come to Thursday at 6pm to pick up — and the cake was ready on time and waiting for us on the counter not like my request, unwrapped, not in a box. I’m not sure what the first set of girls wrote down but the cake was not like what I wanted. I also confirmed with the baker that there was to be vanilla pudding inside, there wasn’t. There’s no turning back now (pictures are Friday) so we order some other sweets and pay. They don’t offer a specialty box to transport these cakes so the cashier put this uniquely shaped cake in a square box, with the top wide open and reminds me to be careful. Ever take buttercream outside, unwrapped in below freezing temperatures? I’m hoping it softens before picture time.
I’ve got to admit I’m terribly disappointed. I like the effort that Mr. Ds puts in and now that I live in this area and further away from the two big cake and cupcake juggernauts I was really relying them to pull through. I will likely still stop here for Italian sodas or ice cream with the kids, but as for cake orders? No.

New to the area and looking to fill my cupcake void (and please my gluten free boyfriend), I popped in here to pick up a few sweet treats for valentines day. I loved how impossible it was to just select a few token cupcakes from their cupcake case and I ended up buying 7 instead of the three I was planning to purchase. The staff was friendly and very helpful despite my desire to take my time and consider my choices wisely. Overall, the Samoa and the gluten free chocolate with coconut frosting were the winners in our small (but expert) panel of judges.

Love having this little shop in the neighborhood! Their cupcakes are amazing, not too dense and just the right amount of frosting. I can highly recommend the salted caramel and the chocolate peanut butter, the lemon too, yummm! They have tons of candy to buy by the pound and have found some really unusual types. Their ice cream is good, I believe they sell Pralines and always feature a seasonal flavor, they also make amazing ice cream sandwiches with their homemade cookies. I highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a treat!

It was difficult giving up their cupcakes when I became vegan. We enjoyed bringing our daughter here. The owners have been super accommodating. They did a vegan cupcake tier for our wedding and have started carrying vegan cupcakes on a regular basis as well as special orders. I think their vegan ones might even be better than the regular ones! Definitely better than other locations that offer vegan cupcakes!

Mr. D’s catered the dessert (cupcake towers) for our wedding at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, CT in October 25^th and we couldn’t be more pleased with their product, service, presentation, and all around awesomeness! From day one that we worked with Anne at Mr. D’s we so pleased with her and knew we were in for a treat — figuratively and quite literally with her delicious cupcakes. She gave us an impromptu tasting since we had originally just planned to drop by the store for pricing and she insisted that we try the cakes and fillings before we committed to working with her.
I remember saying to her the day we met that I not only loved the taste of her cupcakes, but I felt that she was a genuine person who would treat our wedding day as if it were her own, and I was right on the money! I can go on and on about how great the cupcakes tasted, I honestly haven’t tasted cupcakes or any cake for that matter, as good as hers. That aside, the presentation was perfect. We added an 8 inch round at the top of the cupcake tower so we had a cake to cut which was also beautiful and delicious. I sent Anne a Pinterest of decorations and styling we wanted and she was not only able to reproduce them but improve upon them with her skill and creativity.
There are so many different vendors to consider when planning a wedding, but we got lucky early on with Anne and Mr. D’s. We found her, loved her, and couldn’t be happier with the result. Our friends and family at the wedding raved about her cupcakes, which is evidenced by the fact that they devoured them in minutes! Thank you Anne for helping to make our wedding the incredibly special day that it was, we are forever grateful!

Freesia was so right.

I loved the environment here, it was fun and they had plenty of candy and cute gifts for anyone! I definitely recommend coming here if you need any gift or party favors.
They also had a variety of hot and cold coffees, plus awesome pastries! If you’ve never been here you’re definitely missing out!

Mr D’s has is a little toy shop with and a bakery.
Menu of the bakery includes Gluten free muffin, regular muffins, sandwiches, ice cream, and various beverages. They even have classic coke bottles in their mini fridge!
Toys range from vintage to newer items. Similar to what you would find at a gift shift to a tourist spot.
Parking in the front is limited, but there is a whole lot in the back and you can easily take the sidewalk or cut through the little alleyway between its neighboring stores.
There is an outdoor seating area to eat you food outside or you can eat it inside.
Prices are not Walmart worthy, but not Toys R Us range either. Food is average price for a bakery as well.
Employees are very nice and willing to serve you with a smile.
Whether walking down town, or looking for a unique place to visit on a sunday drive, Mr. D’s is a nice little shop to check out.

Overall, Mr. D’ s is a decent size place that sells cupcakes, candy, ice cream, and other things like Italian soda.
I LOVE cupcakes so I ordered 3 cupcakes (i.e., coconut, lemon raspberry, and confetti). The cupcakes were just OK. I thought the cupcake filling was slightly dry and the frosting was way too sweet. I could only eat 1, which usually is not the case.
Sometimes you have a cupcake and you wish had another… unfortunately this place didn’t do it for me.
