Pretty legit. Westside banh mi, egg rolls, summer rolls. Expect Westside prices $ 10 – 12 a banh mi, but they’re pretty hefty and shareable. I got the pork belly and it was seriously juicy/tender/meaty. Bread was on-point(crispy yet soft yet thin but not too thin it gets soggy) so they nailed the important elements. Pickled carrots and daikon weren’t really pickled and a leaf of lettuce was added, but overall the banh mi was enjoyable. Summer rolls were small but rolled properly. However the dipping sauce was just hoisin, should be less pungent and mixed with peanut butter, a little garlic and water. Egg rolls were super tiny but had well-seasoned filling. Again, the dipping sauce/nuoc mam was a fail(too much fish sauce), so they have some work to do on the sauce game. Overall the service was good and it was pretty tasty. More on the spendy side for Vietnamese but how is this more egregious than an $ 8 juice or a $ 10 bratwurst? Definitely want to try other banh mi like the xa xiu, chicken and beef.

My coworker brought me here for lunch today and I’m more than pleased! Banh Mi. is on the corner of Rose/Lincoln, in a little plaza with occasional parking spots. It’s a super busy intersection, so be careful! My coworker ordered the xa xiu banh mi which was a special. I ordered the turmeric chicken — braised in kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, ginger, galangal, chilies, house-made chili mayo(totally copy and pasted that from their menu). It definitely has a kick to it, so if you like spicy, this is your banh mi of choice. I can normally handle spicy but I was running up the stairs to get more water before I even finished half! The baguette is toasted oh so perfectly, and still nice and warm if you decide to take it to-go. The way they wrap up the banh mi is so cute. They even tie it up with a little bow. The interior is adorable, with a cute vintage/hipster feel with nice furniture and an intricate shelf on the wall where they have bottles of sriracha and canisters of coffee beans.

I loved the idea of a banh mi shop on Lincoln. It’s hard to get good Vietnamese sandwiches on the west side. My kids and I all enjoyed our sandwiches. That being said, I am concerned about how long this place will last in its current lcoation. First of all, the price was just too high. We paid between $ 11 and $ 13 per sandwich, which was prohibitively expensive for a likely return visit. I am no culinary scrooge, yet I don’t see myself dropping in for a quick bite at this price. Had the sandwiches been sublime, I might expect myself to fall hard when the bahn mi craving struck. Sublime, alas, they were not. The bread in particular lacked that signature baguette crispiness. The sandwiches are on the smaller side as well, especially at the price. All in all, I walked away feeling that I had eaten a pretty good bahn mi. I want Bahn Mi to succeed, and I hope it’s doing well in spite of my concerns for it, mostly because I want to eat there at least once a week, but also because the owner was very friendly and the service was excellent. If I were you, I wouldn’t let this review stop you from trying it. It’s well worth a visit. I’m just wondering how many of us will be going back at the current price point.

So let’s start with the premise that I can grab three banh mi sandwiches in Westminster for $ 6. OK so adjust for west side pricing and I could see how I might pay more BUT $ 12 for a single sandwich?! watf They must be getting raped on their lease is the only thing I could see would justify this price. Granted the Moo Mi I got did have more meat than I usually see on these sandwiches but that was almost a negative too. Because these grinders are best with a good ratio of bread to meat, I like to taste the bread and the veggies too! As someone else suggested, they would sell 4x sandwiches if they got the price down to $ 6 – 7. Now on to the quality and taste. The bread was a bit soggy from too much meat and also did not have the nice crunchy crust of a good baguette. Remember«banh mi» means bread which should be the key ingredient here. The meat was just ok. It was tender but the flavor was almost bland. Understand this sandwich gets quite a kick from the sliced chilies so had flavor in that sense but the meat was about as tasty as a hungry man TV dinner. I can be pretty critical so if the owners read this I suggest you take a step back and reassess the pricing and portion. I was honestly disappointed because I love Banh Mi sandwiches and was excited to see them available in my hood. But I will not be returning; seriously if I wasn’t so hungry, upon seeing the pricing I would have turned around and walked out without ordering. This is a shame because I like to support local businesses. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. Place was clean and well kept. They had Mexican Coke so that was an upside. btw if you ever are down in the OC it is worth it to trek over to Banh Mi & Che Cali Bakery. Best in the west.

Their banh mi is different from traditional banh mi that you get in Westminster. Priced to fit la prices. What i got : — ca ri(chicken curry) packed with chicken and potatoe. Curry was not overwhelming with the perfect amount of creaminess from the coconut milk. Add siracha to it to get that extra kick $ 11 — caramel glazed pork. The initial bit tastes sweet than you get the hint of savory at the end. One of their most popular there $ 11 — spring roll. Not worth it. Small with only shrimp … Where’s the pork? $ 5 — Vietnamese coffee. Not as concentrated and sweet as traditional Vietnamese coffee $ 3 Overall, I would come back. I typically don’t pay more than $ 5 for Vietnamese sandwich but this place presentsthe Vietnamese well with great tasting ingredients. The sandwich will get you full because the stuff it. Can’t wait to try their other flavored !!

I love the staff here. I went in for another sandwich the other day with some friends and not only was it delicious as usual, but at the end of our meal, the owner came around and offered us all a free dessert. Not every business does that. It was a nice, classy touch.

Met Heidi randomly roughly 6 months before she opened Banh Mi. Really sweet personality and great customer service. Good to see her again after her sandwich shop opened for a year. Ordered the caramelized pork belly, which is said to be the most popular sandwich. I read other reviews saying it was too sweet or difficult to chew, but I don’t think those comments were really applicable or true. In my experience, the pork belly practically melts in your mouth! Also the place provides a modern alternative to the traditional banh mi sandwich shop, something I would love to see more.

Most of the reviews describe this place well. Good Banh Mi and great service, but pricey. My Banh Mi was close to $ 15 with tax! Great service! Very friendly staff! Food came out fast. Only con was price. If this place sold their sandwiches for less than $ 10, they could increase their sales 4X. Mama Hongs sells their Banh Mi for $ 6 – 7, and everyone can afford that for lunch or dinner(Bowl Kitchen sells theirs for $ 9 – 10). I think $ 10 is the max I will pay for a sandwich. Any higher is an entrée, and there is a lot of competition in that space. I want this place to stay in business, so hopefully they will find a solution to sell more affordable sandwiches.

The food here is excellent! I had the beef short rip bahn mi and it was really spicy(in a good way). This place knows how to make a great bahn mi. All the flavors came together so well, and the bread was perfect. The price was a little on the high side for what you get, but I’m sure most people can justify it for the quality of the food/ingredients. I wish the location seating was a little better and less crammed. The seating was odd because it was set up in a way where you have to sit directly next to the other person rather than in front of them. Each chair has its own mini table big enough for one person. Not sure if this was to save space or if it’s a cultural thing, but it definitely wasn’t something I was used to and have never seen before. Overall this place is a great place to go if you’re looking for a bahn mi. I think this place is a great option for a quick, and filling, lunch.

I could only vouch for the takeout as I had Banh Mi only to go since I been commuting between LA and SD several weekends. Have tasted the fish cod, ca ri ga(curry chicken), oink mi(pork belly) banh mi. Very flavorful with curry. Each Banh Mi is cutely wrapped upon opening — wax paper and string. And on the plus side, they have shrimp chips that they give along with the banh mi(usually 3 – 4 pieces) in a small bag. Would totally drop by(one day hopefully), to eat in the try everything else on the menu!

YUM. It’s all about the bread. Tofu veg sandwich was fantastic. I like with added spice like a sriracha sauce.

Oh. My. God… Ordered a sandwich for delivery on GrubHub and the wait time said 2 and a half hours. When I called the store to ask about that, they were really sweet, and I wish I had the time to go in and check the place out! Anyways, the Oink Mi sandwich was amazing, and it came with shrimp chips which were delicious. They even wrote a little note on my bag which I thought was sweet. Must stop in next time!

Fresh, fast and delicious! I was searching for a vegetarian banh mi sandwich for the past few weeks(yay pregnancy cravings!) and stumbled upon this restaurant on the corner of Rose and Venice. They were kind, made a delicious set of fresh spring rolls(shrimp, rice noodles and really tasty hoisin dipping sauce– which is really the reason I love spring rolls), and the sandwich was really tasty! I’ll definitely be back, as I think this is my new favorite sandwich. What I ordered: chili tofu sandwich: — has spicy mayo on it and a perfect amount of kick! — the baguette was fresh and soft and didn’t break my teeth! spring rolls: — crispy, tasty and perfect for the hot weather Overall, loved it!

Say what? Had little expectations for this place, saw it a few times when I cross to the other side of Rose Ave. Pleasantly surprised how succulent the pork belly banh mi was, and how fresh the bread was — I have to ease in it so I dove in with a staple. I can’t wait to head back to try the other styles. I popped my banh mi cherry and it bleed sriracha. Welcome to the hood.

Came here the other day, order at the counter and then wait at this small shop in a strip mall. Cod banh mi, very flavorful with the curry. I really enjoy the toppings that come with a banh mi and the bread is very nice. It might be slightly expensive for a sando, but I think this is the going rate for Banh Mi.

Hipster banh mis. Beautifully wrapped in paper and twine, pretty to look at, expensive for a banh mi and unfortunately just not that good. We got 4 sandwiches — ranked in order of my likes — go fish(cod), ca ri ga(curry chicken), oink mi(pork belly) and the moo mi(braised short rib). For the most part though the proteins were pretty bland. Sadly. The cod was the most interesting with the yogurt sauce, herbs and spicy mayo… the curry chicken banh mi was ok but the potatoes within the curry seemed more abundant than the actual curry and made for a somewhat pasty consistency. I personally wasn’t a fan of the oink or moo(especially the moo — the braised short rib was kind of baby food like — no flavah and really mushy but not in a tender yums way). Wanted to loves it all(all for family owned local new businesses!!) but just can’t give my thumbs up this time.

Little shop in a small strip mall on the southwest corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Rose Ave. in Venice. Parking can be tough, both in the lot and on the street, but well worth your effort. Sandwiches are made with TLC and are everything they promise… and more. I really like the pork belly sandwich(see my pic) and wil have a hard time not re-ordering it next time I go here.

3.5 stars rounded up. I was on my way home when I caught the store sign from the corner of my eye. And since I just had a conversation about [the lack of good] Banh Mi the day before, I took it as a figurative sign… I had to check it out. Basically, I was fated to eat a fat girl sandwich and hate myself afterwards. But hey, fate is fate. Apparently, the store just opened and the nice Vietnamese girls were excited to have one of their own come in to test the waters. The place is small but clean, with limited seating. I took my order to go. The oinky Banh Mi was good for being so far away from real competitors in SGV and Bolsa, and the pricey tag would probably outrage my parents(+$ 10 sandwiches). I wouldn’t call this a traditional Vietnamese sandwich – it is undoubtedly a creation to please the palates of West LAers. The thick French bread(not skinny baguette) was nicely done, filled with extra fatty pork belly and home pickled veggies. I loved the pickles and country pâté. The braised pork was marinated in a sauce that was a little too sweet for me but the quality of ingredients was definitely high, as you would expect from a Venice establishment next to Whole Foods. I also had a taste of the turmeric chicken; while the chicken was nice and tender, the ginger was overwhelming. There is definitely a lot of potential here, and I would be willing to try another sandwich and fresh Vietnamese coffee when I’m ready to hate myself again.

Venice was hurtin’ for a squirtin’. And that squrtin’s name was banh mi. These sandwiches are great. Fresh baguette, crisp veggies, well-marinated and savory meat, it’s everything you expect from this Vietnamese gift to the world. Please support this incredibly friendly family-owned business! I’ll be back. :cue Terminator music:
