I left Buckys because my buddy no longer works there, and had to scramble to find a shop. Based in Unilocal went to these guys. They found the problem, fixed it and charged me 60 bucks parts and labor when others would have nailed me for more than that on the diagnostic work, and labor alone. I will return.

I will definitely bring my truck here whenever I need their services. I chose to come here because of the reviews and proximity to my house. I was not disappointed. Their customer service was great and they had no problem explaining to me what’s going on with my truck. I also didn’t feel talked down to which is a pretty big deal for me.

Absolutely awesome service from this family owned company! I always feel like I’m getting robbed at large dealerships but this team was awesome. Cost came in under the estimate, and the estimate was almost a year old. they called to keep us updated on time of completion — great service! I would recommend this company for any auto issues.

I left my 2013 Audi A7 Prestige here for Brakes. The customer service received was consistent and outstanding. The work was precise and quick. There is no other reason to to take your vehicle anywhere else.

I recently took my Acura to this auto service establishment due to the good rating they had on this app. I was not disappointed. I had taken my car to the dealership for my 90k service, and of course they provided a long list of items to address. I was aware of a few of the items that you address at 90k such as the timing belt, water pump, and serpentine belt and tensioners, but the others were a surprise. I took my car to this dealership and they are friendly and knowledgeable. They informed me of the necessary items that needed to be addressed, as well as informed me of the items I didn’t. They saved me a lot of money I would have had to spend at the dealership. I highly recommend this shop.

my family has been going here for the last 10 years. Even though we moved away we STILL bring our cars here. These are the most honest, hardworking men in the industry. Always a pleasure to work with. I will never trust our vehicles to anyone else.

I took my car here because I was in need of some windshield wiper repair since the linkage bushings had failed on mine and I was forced to drive around in the pounding rain on the highway without wipers. The gentlemen at Bitterling’s were able to quickly find out what parts they needed in order to fix the problem (though unfortunately said parts only seemed to be available directly from the Nissan dealership). Though the parts were going to take a day to ship, they did spray rain repellent on my window so that I could at least get home safely. They had the parts ordered and ready for me the next day. They installed everything quickly and I was priced fairly for the parts, shipping, and installation time. I am overall pleased with their workmanship and their friendliness.
They are also a dog friendly business. I brought my Doberman in because I was going to take him to the park afterwards, and they gave him some dog treats which he enjoyed very much.

I took my car here based on the reviews I read on Unilocal and that was a terrible mistake. This place is by far the WORST service I have ever recieved from an automotive repair shop. I brought my car in for rough idling, they told me it was probably the EGR valve. They called later that day telling me that it wasn’t that, that my car just needed a tune up and it was fine. I went to pick the car up the next day and paid them $ 300 for the tune up. I asked about the 10% labor discount through Unilocal and they applied the discount and then told me I needed a fuel filter so that «ate up» my discount. I drove off thinking they had fixed the problem, I didn’t even make it a block down the street and my car began running terrible. I brought it straight back to them and they told me it was running fine for them, to leave for a day so they could test drive it. I returned the next day to pick up my car because they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it! Not only did they not fix it but I picked it up and my key wouldn’t turn in the ignition! I continued to have this problem over the weekend and called them Monday when they opened back up and told them I had been having trouble with my car since I picked it up from them and they said to bring it in the next to look at it. I brought it by the next day and not only did they not look at it, they told me it was my fault my key was «worn down» and to take it to a lock smith. It’s funny my key wasn’t «worn down» before I brought it to them and I had no issues prior to leaving my vehicle there! A total waste of money and time these people are a complete rip off and leave your car in worse condition than it was before bringing it to them. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! I regret ever bringing my car here, I thought it would be a good place based on the reviews but I can tell you that is completely FALSE! If I could give ZERO stars I would!

Great service and done as promised. I don’t think the repair was particularly complicated and the cost seemed fair but in the simplest terms, it worked fine, was done on time and cost as was estimated. Will return for certain.

This is the very best automotive repair shop in Tacoma. They are honest, dependable, flexible, and have great prices for their work. I have had a couple of major repairs done here at their shop and with their 70+ year old tenure here in Tacoma I would not recommend anyone else. I never felt like I was taken advantage of and could always count on their honesty for my large repairs. Believe me, I don’t just recommend anyone and I have had auto repairs done for over 35 years… Bitterling’s is by far the most reliable Auto Service in Town.

Bitterlings was recommended to me by a friend who has used them for years and who is a very discerning customer :-) I took my ancient truck in and they took care of what ailed it quickly. They’re friendly and respectful and don’t charge an arm and a leg or try to sell me what I didn’t need.

I took my car in here yesterday with a cylinder #5 misfire. I dropped it off by 8:30am and received a quote within an hour. They gave me a fair price and my car was ready for pickup by 11:30am. They didn’t try to hustle me with up sells either, they were very straightforward. I will be taking the wife’s car here as well.

So.
I recently bought a new car, 99 Honda CRV, and decided to do some preventative maintenance. I took car in Thursday April 2^nd and asked to have my drivers side door taken off, my window put back on track (It was working, but only went down halfway and was off track) and to have them do a head to toe inspection because of a clinking noise. They said they would need it overnight, so I left it their and was told I would be called tomorrow morning and they would have an update and a quote.
They called me at 9:23 am and told me that everything was good except they can’t adjust the window, they have to replace the regulator and motor mount. Also, they found the noise and that it was the sway bar links. They also claimed that the front brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. They quoted me after tax $ 801.97.
I thought to myself, good, now everything will be good to go, and my new car has been inspected by reputable mechanics. So now, I give em the go ahead, and they start doing their work. All I have to do now is wait for a call, and pick up my car.
I grow impatient and give them a call at 1:39 pm wondering if it’s almost done (they close at 5) said not yet, but it’s up on the lift and they were working on it now. At 3:56 pm I cal them again wondering if my vehicle was ready to be picked up. Don answers the phone and apologizes by saying «We’re really sorry, we’re gonna need to do some more work on it. A part broke, and I don’t want to tell you too much, but it’s between the head and the piston, and the part is at the machine shop now, and if they can’t ix it, well then we’ll have to go from there.»
Feeling royally fucked I asked the only question on my mind, «when will I have my car back, and what exactly did you break?»
«well, it’s between the head and the piston and probably nothing, but sometimes when you do these things with too much torque, old pieces will break…»
I explain the situation to my parents (broke college student) and they convince me to have some faith, and just let them handle it. There logic was, «they already admitted to breaking it, now I’m sure they will make sure that everything is perfect when they give it back, these things have warranties».
I’m thinking, o. k, good. They’re right, I’m probably just worried over nothing.
Monday April 6^th (closed on weekends), finally I can get my car back. I call them at 9:28 am, they tell me that they’re going to have to replace the ball joints, and that that would be another 255.22. I’m like, hold the fuck up, on Friday, you said you broke something and sent it to the machinist, now you’re telling me i need even more work done on my car, and you still haven’t told me what you broke in the first place. They claim nothing happened, and that I don’t need the ball joints now, but will need them in the immediate future. To go ahead and wrap this story up, they ended up charging me 1,137.99 to pick up my car on Monday April 6^th. I immediately notice that the noise is still there, and now the alignment is god awful. Hard turning to the left to stay straight. Can’t let my hands off the wheel for a second or else I’ll end up in the sidewalk. I look at my bill, Ball Joint– remove and replace, DOES NOT INCLUDE ALIGNMENT. So my car that was driving straight, is now pulling to the right, I’m out 1200.00, and my car still has the same problem. Oh, well my window works, so theirs that.
I take it back Tuesday April 14^th, explain that they essentially fixed nothing, the reason I came to them, and the problem that they charged me 1200.00 for isn’t fixed, and that the check engine light is now on. I bring up that they claimed to have broken something, but never admitted as to what they broke exactly, and Don say «Oh that wasn’t you’re car, that was a Subaru.»…
Let em have it for the day, didn’t expect it back until Wednesday anyway, They called me on Thursday and said they fixed it. They replaced the sway bar links with different ones. I pick it up Friday, still the same problems, and I no longer have the energy or resources to put into them fixing. Literally, on the 2^nd receipt they gave me there is a note stating «car still has a clicking in back is rear sway bar brushings in back, not parts avail today, has minor noises in front, control arm brushings have a bit of wear could be causing noise or possible front struts? hard to pin down exactly, see if good enough for now, not dangerous»
I’m letting everyone i run into know, don’t go to Bitterlings.

I called to ask if they could service our 2005 Audi that started to have trouble this morning and the gentleman that I spoke with was very polite, honest, respectful and so helpful!
I honestly do not EVER write reviews but I seriously was just so impressed and delighted with such courtesy and mannerism, that I feel it really is appropriate to express this.

I needed new brake pads on my truck after 101,000 miles. Not rotors, not calipers, and definitely not a bill for more than $ 500 like a well known tire store told me I needed. It was so refreshing to be treated like an intelligent and informed woman instead of «another blonde» that of course doesn’t know anything. I saved over $ 350+ going to Bitterlings. Thanks guys, I am a customer for life!!!

Saw the great reviews on Unilocal and decided to try Bitterlings since my car had been acting up and finally gave out. We had my ’07 impala towed there using AAA but I read they had their own towing service. I may be wrong. We got there and told the guys how it was acting. They were very nice and gave us some possibilities. Just by hearing the attempts to start it they knew it was the starter. We also had a clicking noise in the dash I wanted them to check out.
It was the starter and we got a very fair price for labor and parts. They had also called and told us the price to fix the clicking noise but we passed since it was already costing more than we’d like, or anyone for a vehicle lol but the mechanic walked in and said he fixed it before we got off the so they waived the labor fee.
They were great friendly guys and we’ll be returning if ever needed again for our vehicles.

Great and fast service! Came in to get my 100,000 mile check up and mounting bracket replaced. They reviewed what I didn’t need in the maintenance package, cuz I already had most of it covered with oil change and coolant flush, etc. Turn around time for the entire service was roughly 2 hours (got there right wjen it opened) and the cost was very reasonable and affordable. The guys working there are professional and refrain from any vulgarity or inappropriate conversation around customers. Everyone was also very courteous and had a smile on their faces. I’m definitely coming back!

I’ve only taken my car here once, but the service was great.
They gave a fair price, didn’t try to get me to buy things I didn’t need, and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my car back here in a heartbeat (but sincerely hope I don’t have to)! :)

By far the best place I’ve ever had work done on my vehicle!
We took our car into the Toyota dealership in Auburn and were quoted over $ 1800 for needed repairs. We quickly took it to Bitterling’s for a second opinion. All said and done they did what was needed for $ 310! They were fast, honest, and stayed in communication with us the entire time.
What more could you ask for? We are so thankful to have found this shop!!!
