Specialties
T Bar M Camps has provided over 30 years of Life-Impacting camp experiences. We are a non-denominational Christian summer camp with locations in New Braunfels, TX and on Lake Travis near Austin.
Our Lake Travis property near Austin is called Camp Travis, and is an entire camp designed and built for teenage adventurers. Camp Travis is one seriously full week of Christ-centered, life-changing High Adventure. Water skiing, wrangling, triathlon, ropes courses, sailing, theme nights and more, with plenty of time left over for hanging out with friends and coaches. And speaking of coaches, these college kids are the cream of the crop, dedicated to safety, to modeling a Christ-like walk, and to making a lasting impact on your kids. As always, the highest safety standards are built into our training, and we ensure a 1:5 or better coach to camper ratio.
Over 250 campers in Austin are already enrolled for 2014. Spots are limited and filling fast.
History
Established in 1981.
We’re over 30 years old and still running! Throughout all the changes and the growth at T Bar M Camps, God’s grace is to credit for over 130,000 lives being changed through 30+ years of Christ-Centered Adventure.
In 1997 the gates to Camp Travis officially opened to teenagers for a true outdoor adventure. That first summer, 60 campers each week slept in platform-army tents, ate at the Rio and played at the Courthouse. Three years later, while the teenagers were still enjoying the new lake-front activities, cabins began replacing tents, a giant activity pool was placed right in the center of camp and a super-sized ropes course was built which quickly made this camp a teenager’s paradise. New adventures were added each summer and now Camp Travis serves over 200 campers each week during the summer.
Our 30 full-time staff and an additional 270 college summer staff serve more than 7,000 campers every year between our Lake Travis and New Braunfels properties.
Meet the Manager
Johnny P.
Manager
Director of Camps
He’s the biggest kid at camp who, if you meet him, introduces himself with JAW (points to jaw) KNEE (points to Knee) and then gives you a big poke! Johnny’s college days were spent on the TCU track where he ran the anchor leg of the 400 relay. Maybe that’s why the rest of us feel like we are running just to keep up with him as he has led Christ-centered Adventure since 1987. Johnny’s first summer at T Bar M he led a staff of 30 loving on 1400 campers. Today he’s directing four camps and year-long programs serving over 10,000 people a year and he hasn’t slowed down a bit. His heart is big on sharing Christ’s love pointing kids to Jesus, and his ability to fire-up a crowd is unparalleled.
Johnny is married to wife-for-life Cheri. They have two sons. Daniel is a graduate of Pepperdine and working with Teach Across America in downtown Dallas and Kyle is a junior at Texas A&M. His sons have both been campers and served at camp and each have big hearts to serve the Lord.
