Paradice Motel

This was our 1^st time in Tahoe and after looking at local places to stay I went with the Paradice Motel thanks to some of the other reviews. When I called to make reservations, they were super friendly. During our stay, the room was very clean and nice. Even had a mini rrfrigerator and microeave. The motel is within walking distance to local shopping, casinos and a beach area. Mei, the owner, was very nice and even chatted with us during the free breakfast and coffee offered by the hotel. We will definitely be making a trip back to Tahoe and staying at the Paradice Inn.

Overall a very charming motel. Very clean and a great appearance. Amazing owner and manager. We stayed for two nights and had nothing to complain about. I chose this motel over others in the area due to the price, but even if prices fluctuate, this place holds a special place in my heart and will be my first consideration in the future. I’d like to thank the manager and owner for everything.

Cozy, friendly, small quant and really good central location, easy walk to the beach, resturants and skiing. Rooms are tiddy and some upgrading have been done. Good value for a weekend get awat

Kathy at the desk was more than amazing and hospitable towards us! She went above and beyond! The room was decorated very nice and was clean. We will definitely be back again!

If you’re like me — when you see ‘motel’ you might be a little hesitant. Took a risk based off the online reviews and everybody was right — this place is great. Super clean, very friendly & perfect location for everything in south Lake Tahoe!

Don’t let the outside appearance fool you! And even though it is a «motel» I would actually describe this place more as a «boutique hotel.» It’s definitely not what you would think of as a typical «motel.»
The rooms are very spacious and clean! When I walked in I felt like I was entering someone’s beautiful, well-​kept home. It had a lovely bed, cute décor, a clean bathroom, and a bookshelf with books and complimentary snacks. (Plus there’s complimentary coffee in the main office in the mornings for all the guests.)
The management is awesome. We got a phone call earlier in the day from Marina (the manager/​owner) who actually lives on the property. (Her apartment is right next to the office). She called to give us our choice of room because she was going to upgrade us free-​of-​charge to a King bedroom (we booked a Queen). She was so helpful and accommodating! You could tell that she really went out of her way to make sure we had the best stay ever. Our room didn’t have a microwave at first, so we simply asked if there was a microwave to have access to and she immediately went to get a microwave to put in our room! She also let us stay past the normal check out time because she wasn’t fully booked when we were scheduled to leave.
The location is great too because you are within walking distance of the main road. There’s a Ralph’s, Starbucks, Subway, etc. etc. within walking distance. There are tons of shops and things to do!
All in all, it was the perfect place for us and I would definitely stay again!

I have to start by saying I would have given this place a higher review, if I didn’t have a particularly unpleasant experience with gf /​bf (or husband /​wife?) management that pretty much overshadowed the rest of my stay.
In booking the hotel, I made sure to request a late checkout because I knew that I would be driving back to San Diego that same day after a half day at the beach. My gf and I both wanted to shower before this long drive. I was told that a late check out would not be a problem because it was a Sunday and there are not normally as many people that check in on Sunday and that I would not be charged extra. This factored into my decision to book this motel as opposed to the many other hotels in the area. When I arrived, I again confirmed the late check out with the managers.
Then, the day that we were to check out, I wanted to remind the management before we headed to the beach (which was just down the road) of the late check out. It took me about 10 minutes to get anyone. The gf /​bf managers were hanging out drinking beer and blasting music in a room next to the check in counter. At 10am. As an aside, this bf /​gf manager team (who seemed to be the only people that worked at this hotel) were often hiding /​sleeping /​avoiding work in this room and no one was at the front desk.
Once the bf finally came out he said that we needed to check out by noon and that he considered this a late check out. I noted how this would not even allow us time to go to the beach and then come back and shower. He responded by getting increasingly belligerent (the beer, perhaps?) and then asked me if I had ever stayed at a hotel before. I thought that was an incredibly rude thing to ask. In fact, I travel often for work. It is not normally a big deal to do a late check out — I do it all the time and actually just did one today. Rudeness aside, I reminded him that I had paid hundreds of dollars for my stay and that I had been told I could do a late check out, which in common understanding meant at least 1 pm. He said tough luck, I needed to be out of the room by noon or he would charge me for another night. I then offered to have us check out of the room and just shower in a different room. He then became even more agitated and began yelling at us that his wife /​gf cleaned the rooms and that would just make more work for her. Unreal.
So we check out and made the 10 hour drive to San Diego without showering. The people who sit at the front desk are a joke. They did not speak English as a first language, so there may have been some cross cultural misunderstanding going on. Doesn’t matter imo. They were incredibly rude and unprofessional, made me and my gf very uncomfortable, and a left a very bad taste in our mouths after an otherwise pleasant vacation. They should be fired and not working in the service industry.

Nice little motel off the main street in South Tahoe.
Receptionist was super nice. We got the last room with 2 queen in separated room. Great for privacy. We really liked our stay. Perhaps the next time, I will avoid the insane Labor Day Weekenders. Price was high that weekend, but understandable.

PS: WIFI can be spotty at times and connection may be interrupted.

This is a great find. The motel itself is of typical South Lake Tahoe vintage and feel, slight worn. However, the on-​site managers make you feel right at home. They take care of every need with coffee/​snacks in the morning, a pull down service and even chocolate candy when you get back at night. The location is amazing, 5 – 10 minute walk to the beach, restaurants and casinos. You can park your car and never move it again until you leave (we did just that). The value is also fantastic — a best buy!

This place is in a great location. Its walking distance to heavenly in one direction and walking distance to the lake in the other. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The guy new our name as we walked in and greated us with a big smile. Theres a chalkboard with a personalized welcome note in the room. Music was playing as we entered and there were sweeta on the counter. The room is very stylish and cute. Beds are comfy. We will definitely be back to this place. It was perfect for us.

Sweet hotel! We were excited that there were two bedrooms in our double queen room. We arrived super late (11pm), so our key was left on the bed, welcome messages and little sweets were left in the room, and soft, classical music was playing when we walked in. The beds were comfy. The only small gripe I had was that the room was hot and stuffy… but I missed noticing the fan in the bedroom where I was sleeping! I’m sure it would have been better had I noticed that.
As we checked out, we were given two little goodie bags with bottled water and gum for our kids– which was excellent, given that we forgot gum and heard all about ear pain on the drive up!

Awesome customer service as well. When you check out, they give you a gift bag full of goodies.

The sign says truly exceptional lodging and it’s true. It’s still a motel but the extra touches are what stood out. The warm welcoming on the chalk board, the fruit plate and the little Hershey Kisses. Kathy was great, she made food suggestions which we took. She made the dinner reservations for us which I’m glad she did because they got packed quick!
The bed was kinda small and it didn’t have a refrigerator but all and all it was a good stay for us.

Kudos to the owners Kathy and Uwe for having positively the best customer service at any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Ok so the rooms were not perfect but the awesome service definitely made up for that! We had only about 26 hrs to spend in Tahoe and thanks to their recommendations, we were able to get the most out of our stay. Plus their dogs are so cute!

Decorated amazing staff was very nice. Beds were comfy. A dog named boo welcomes you. Worth the money.

Let me start by saying there are two types of hotels in Tahoe: first are your casinos, located in Nevada. They will cost you upwards of $ 150/​night on a weekend, and are full of smoke. Upside is the gambling action in your own hotel. The other type of hotel in Tahoe you can get is a retro no-​tell motel (most aren’t so sketchy, to be honest). These are all on the California side, and the hotels are smashed together like sardines. You will certainly have your pick of any $ 30+ motel your heart desires. Upside is that most hotels in California don’t allow smoking and the Nevada casinos are just a few short blocks away. Downside is parking, usually, which is never really the best.
Paradice (great play on words) fits in with the retro no-​tell motel type for Tahoe. But, this isn’t a seedy, sketchy, don’t-touch-the-bedding type of hotel. It’s actually a clean, snuggle-​into-​the-​bed type of place. We had a «deluxe king room,» where «deluxe» was a big overstatement for «standard,» but that’s what we expected so we weren’t surprised. The bed was SUPER comfortable. I was out like a light within minutes. We were greeted with a nice welcome message on the chalk board inside the door, along with a fruit plate waiting by the tv. Also had a welcome package on the bed with a random (best way to say it) assortment of samples for a weekend of skiing/​snowboarding (icy hot, theraflu, advil, etc). After we left for dinner and gambling, we came back to the room to find a bottle of pellegrino and hersheys kisses for each of us.
The manager was a cute, very sweet older Asian lady. She was so welcoming and helpful, and made several suggestions for places to check out. Their dog was walking around the office and was so friendly telling both of us hello.
I may possibly stay again. It was not a bad experience!

Knowing that we had booked a motel and not one of the more well known ones made me a littler nervous as we arrived. Driving into to Tahoe about 3 hours before our scheduled check in time, we called them to see if we could drop off our bags at least as we drove around the beautiful lake. The lady who answered said yes OF COURSE you can! Not only that, they had actually just finished getting the room ready and they would love to see us. We drove on over to meet at the door by two beautiful ladies and their super friendly golden retriever Thurman and his best friend Bu. As a dog lover it made my day! They showed us to our room, helped with the bags and offered coffee or sparkling water if we were thirsty. So sweet.
The room we rented was a two bedroom double as we had a party of four, the bathroom was surprisingly huge, very clean and they thoughtfully provided little packs with not just the normal shampoo etc but also tooth brushes, EmergenC (they must have known all these nights at the Casino can require a little vitamin boost ;)
The room itself was very clean and tidy with a few cute little things but not clutter. the beds where very comfortable and perfectly turned down when we returned later after dinner with a Hershey kiss for everyone on the pillows and perrier water on all bed stands, with extra flat water in the mini fridge. In the morning there was fresh coffee and pastries in the lobby with little chairs for you to sit and enjoy the start of the day.
The young couple and their mother in law who run the place were extremely helpful with providing beach passes to the private beach only a block away, as well as some very good tips for shopping, dinning and hiking. All in all I give them a solid AAA! My only regret is that I was not allowed to bring their adorable dogs home with me and that my stay was not longer!

They left the sweetest welcome note on the chalk board behind the door as well! I felt absolutely spoiled!

I was not impressed by this motel although it is clear they are trying.

–Great pilows! Wanted to take them home :)
–Room & linens were clean
–Wine glasses provided in room– nice touch
–Chocolates, fruit & Perrier — yum
–Free wi-​fi
–Owner seemed nice
–Free coffee and small platter of pastries available at front desk in the morning
CONS:
–No hot tub on property. Really? I’ve stayed in $ 40/​night motels which had a hot tub. This is #1 for any ski motel.
–Extremely small bathrooms.
–No hairdryer in bathroom. Good thing I brought one.
–No body lotion provided.
–No thick duvets or covers on beds.
–Small old school TVs.
Bottom line: At $ 200/​night, this ’boutique’ motel is way overpriced for what you get.

This place just feel like home.
We had a 2 night stays in this cozy place on 3÷12÷2010 weekend. We arrived the place near 1am and the room is waiting for us with heater on, bed-​side lights on, and classical music. The owner left a welcome message on the board next to the door, and to our surprise, there were two bottles of Perrier water, a small fruit plate, and a very cute welcome card with Hershey’s kisses by the side table (complement the check-​in and turn-​down).
The room is not huge, but roomy. The bed is big, and cover with comfortable bed sheets and blankets, soft and cozy. I also love the arrangements of cute decoration with some personal touch, and it really has the «home» feeling. The bathroom is very specious and clean.
The service in this place is not only great, but also thoughtful. Basically the staff consider everything we need and we may need during our stay. There are some books on the shelves for spare time, also a pamper kit. The second day I even got an towel elephant sitting on the bed. How cute! Next morning after we check out, we got a goodies bag with bottle water and treats!
The look and the name of this place may be ordinary, but I really like this place. Will definitely come back again!
Pros: Nice and comfortable bed sheets, chic deco, friendly staff, good service, complementary treats.
Cons: You may hear people walking outside the room.
