3 Peaks Resort & Beach Club

On 5 June, at 2:15 PM, my husband entered the office of 3 Peaks Resort & Beach Club in Lake Tahoe, Ca. seeking a room for one night. He was asked for his credit card and a picture ID. His Temporary California Driver’s License — a paper copy — had no picture. He returned to his car and walked his invalid wife to the office where she displayed her license and credit card. The black-​haired clerk accepted both and she returned to her car. The reservation was made and they were told to return at 4 PM when their room would be ready.
He re-​entered the office at 3:45 PM and was told it was not ready and to wait. He waited and during the wait a second clerk, blonde hair, joined the first clerk. The blonde lady called him saying his room was ready. She asked for his credit card and he surrendered it. She swiped the card and asked for his picture ID. My husband said he had already done the picture display with the black haired lady seated beside the blonde lady. The blonde haired lady insisted she had to see the picture and she ignored the reply of the black haired lady when she said she had seen it. The blonde haired lady remained insistent.
My husband told her to remove him from the account and she replied she could not since my husband was cancelling the room without the 7-​day warning. He responded that he was not asking his wife to return to the office when she had already done that step to the satisfaction of the black haired woman. He left the office and we drove away.
The entire session with the 3 Peaks management was disturbing and insulting. Do not waste your time in this run-​down make believe so-​called resort.

Nice rustic hotel that compliments its environment nicely. The bedroom area was nicely furnished, but the fireplace was dirty and the kitchenette looked quite dated. On the whole, a solid choice for hotel for the night, but not quite luxe enough for 4 stars.

We got a GREAT rate for 3 Peaks on
, and with its pet-​friendly vibe and well-​appointed rooms, it was a no-​brainer for part of the Mister’s birthday trip in mid-​May.
The location was stellar — walkable to pretty much everything, including the VanSickle and Khale trailheads, which were our main destinations this go-​around. Our studio digs boasted a little balcony overlooking the grounds, a fireplace, full kitchen, comfy king bed, and jetted tub. In addition to a pool (which wasn’t yet open when we visited), 3 Peaks has a pretty bangin’ two-​level jacuzzi that’s open year-​round!
So, why 4 stars and not 5?
* Our carpet had a number of very beat up/​torn spots…
* …and it looked like someone took a bite out of our otherwise lovely stone fireplace’s base.
* We opted not to use the jetted tub, because the jets looked like they might not have been sanitized in a loooong time.
* It’s nice that they offer wood for purchase to burn in your fireplace… but $ 10 for the convenience of buying it there? No, thanks.
* 10am is pretty late to open the jacuzzi, considering the athletic nature of many Tahoe visitors. That jacuzzi would really have felt awesome after an early hike!
* If you bill yourself as a «beach club», you should probably be right on/​near the lake/​beach. We were fine with it, but this could be a bit misleading to the uninitiated.
* We could hear our neighbors. (This is the part where we’re also grateful that they were a quiet, older couple, and not a bunch of rowdy, young travelers… because that had the potential to suck.)
* Bi-​polar staff personalities: One guy was awesomely friendly and helpful (I WISH I had noticed his name, because he really did rock)… one was quiet, but fine, I guess… and the female seemed genuinely miffed to have to help anyone. It was like the three bears had come to life and gotten into hospitality.
* The branding is super pet-​friendly, but a per-​night pet fee seems strange… why not a single, flat fee?
With just a few small maintenance moves and personality adjustments, 3 Peaks can easily be a 5-​star spot… here’s hoping!

From beginning to end had a great experience. Was in a suit 510a nice and quiet away from noise! Room we nice large patio facing morning sun, perfect for drinking coffee with the ones you love!
They have a huge jacuzzi that is elevated double decker with a waterfall into yes a second jacuzzi!
Well maintained and clean!
Bring you steaks cause the also have many BBQ grills around property! Walking distance to everything, so no need to drink and drive.

I am saddened to say, most of my reviews are positive. This place is so awful, I felt obligated to write the first bad review I have ever left on any travel site:
WARNING: Rudest customer service I have ever experienced in my over 40 years! Two nights were purchased and paid for in advance at this place for my son and his bride for their honeymoon, as a gift from my son’s aunt. They are young and do not have a credit card of their own, so one was left on file for them in order to be able to check in. When the reservation was booked, this was never presented as a problem. When they arrived, the front desk woman refused to check them in. They called their aunt and she offered to confirm the credit card number over the phone so the couple could check in.
She was told the card had to be run by the machine at the front desk or it would not unlock a key for them and refused to let her speak with a manager or offer any resolution. She said she would not check them in regardless of the room being paid for or the availability of a credit card number given over the phone for incidentals, deposit, etc. I then called myself and asked to speak to a manager, hoping a calm reasonable approach would work. I was told none was available.
I explained I was the mother of the groom and that the room was already paid for. I offered to give my credit card over the phone as being the nearest family member to the couple. I explained I was still over an hour away and it was already 8pm at night, and that I was simply looking for a reasonable resolution. I never even had a chance to get all of that out… I was yelled at, told she would not help me, and then hung up on. I was shocked. I tried to call back one more time, thinking maybe she had mistaken me for someone else.
I attempted to carefully explain I was the mother of the groom and wanted to know how I could help get them checked in to their prepaid room, if the only thing holding them from doing so was the need for a credit card. I offered that my card could be used for whatever deposit they may require. I also never got that far into my request, before being accused of not respecting her, talking over her (I think I got in three words), and saying she was not going to check the couple in, again hanging up on me. I was so shocked I wasn’t even angry (yet!).
My son and his bride have never traveled together before and had no idea what to do, and certainly would have just walked away with their heads down. I advised my son to quietly leave with his bride, as I knew even if I drove there with a credit card in hand they may never see a room, and they would likely be mistreated the whole weekend. I called a nearby bed and breakfast hoping this early in the season they may have a last minute room available for 2 nights.
Wow, what a difference! Fireside Lodge was extremely accommodating and had no idea why a credit card number used to pay for a room in advance could not also be used for check in, and/​or a card number given over the phone. I was given a great room, at a great rate, with a ton of extras thrown in for the groom and bride! The day was saved, and the one star rating for this review is for the blessing that my son and his new bride never had to see a room at 3 Peaks, but instead ended up with much better accommodations and treatment elsewhere. You have been warned — STAY AWAY!!!

Beautiful place, very convenient location, appalling service. We called Kim at the fro t desk cause the main room’s heating was not working and we wanted to see if we could turn on the fireplace. They manually turned on the fireplace since the thermostat wasn’t working and never came back as they said they would in 30 mins to turn it off once the room got too hot like an hour later, even after calling Kim at reception 4 – 5 times, at which point Kim just went full rude, gave us an electrical heater for the main room and started ignoring our calls so we called the main lodge number which happen to connect us to someone in Phoenix who obviously could not help us but told us the front desk was closed after 10pm, so we had to sleep with windows open, which of course was not great for our throats which woke up all sore. Not what you want on a trip to Tahoe. Luckily we had just one day of crappy service, but beware if you’ll stay a week or more cause it can become a «3 peaks lodge» crappy service holiday to forget.

This is a total sham! If you call their number and listen to their recorded message, you’d think you’re making reservations at a Swiss 5-​star resort and beach. This is run of the mill spruced up motel with musty rooms and yucky looking baths. They’re trying to do some remodeling, but things like musty rooms, torn towels, and shabby looking carpets do not bode well for this outfit.
I made my reservations thru a third-​part website, who charged me a «hotel fee.» After I checked out, the motel charged me once again a «hotel fee.» When I called them to dispute said fee, they said third party sometimes does not pay them ALL the taxes, the reason they charged me a hotel fee. Feels like I am in Russia or something, where the rules are loose and nothing is legit. When I called the third party, they said to take it up with that motel.
I guess I have no option but to take it up with my bank!

This hotel used to be great. Best hot tub in the South Tahoe area, wood-​decorated rooms, and most importantly, good service. Now — not so much. With the new ownership, not only the room rates have gone ridiculously high, but the hotel has established a number of policies that are just not customer-​friendly. For example, if you have 2 people on your reservation, only the one who actually paid would be able to check in. Unlike most hotels, these guys won’t add another person to the reservation, so if your friend arrives separately, he’s out of luck — they’d just make him wait in the lobby until you arrive.
They are obsessed with their jacuzzi towels — this is the only hotel in the world that makes you sign for them and return them at night. Oh no, you can’t just leave them at the room. They used to let you use the jacuzzi after 10, but those times are gone — the gestapo management kick everyone out and put a big lock on the door. Parking is a big pain in the butt as well — the lots are too small for the huge property.
And let’s face it, it’s just a slightly upscale motel that calls itself a beach resort even though it’s nowhere near a beach. That’s not only lame but is also false advertising. Avoid unless you can get a deal under $ 60 per night — it’s not worth anymore, and there are great hot tubs in the area besides these guys.

Altogether, a bit pricey for the quality. There was a tear in the carpet by the bed. The door leading to the pool was jammed and would not open. The carpet was also just a tad dirty. The heater didn’t really work well as the control was very slow (or broken, not really sure).
We paid approximately $ 200 per night. Not horrible, but I expected more out of a place like this. The customer service was good. Quick and easy.
Water was nice and hot, all the time. TV channel selection was good. Location is great! Bed sheets were always nice and clean. No problems with bed bugs as others have suggested on here. Plenty of towels provided. Would have given a higher rating if the room was a bit more well kept.

As a fairly frequent Tahoe visitor we have been to lots of hotels in the area. This was our first time as 3 Peaks and it was a last minute trip. We made reservations not knowing what to expect but ohhh man let me tell you this place was more than worth the cost. Upon checking in I was very friendly greeted by Christina. She was amazing. She was efficient, super friendly and super knowledgeable. We were also helped by Randy, and he was just plain awesome as well. The staff here alone will be bringing us back to 3 Peaks. When we got in to our room it was super clean and cozy and boy was it spacious!!! Overall an excellent place to stay, we will for sure be back and be referring friends and family here!!!

BED BUGS INFESTATION!!!
Bad management.
I booked 12 nights and got downgraded because they had no other rooms available.
The other room had a dirty carpet, torn, and no privacy. It was connected to another room and we could listen to everything going on there.
The general manager promised he was going to call us, and that never happened. We are still waiting for his call after a month.
It was my 4^th time at this hotel. Seems like they don’t care at all about customers.

Room had been smoked in. Smelled like animals cable tv not working and it appears there was dig crap on the remote

Not a hotel I would prefer to stay, but it was our last option during the holidays. For the cost you are putting out for a resort hotel, you would expect to have things in good condition. You would not expect to see stained sheets, torn blankets and rollaway beds with stains.

Overall not bad. Good location. It’s waking distance to Heavenly Village for restaurants. Suites are roomy with long balcony. All for about $ 220/​night.
The not good. Toilets are very weak. Hot water was luck warm.

Came in late almost close to 10pm. Got quick check in. The front desk guy was friendly. I asked if they can give me extra pillows and blankets. He told me every staff is off at 10pm. Mmm… okay…just got me kida disappointed. What if really need something?!
Came to the rm. The bathroom is small. The sink is next to the entrance. I love big sink and it looks clean. The shower head/​water is pretty decent which I like a lot.
The rm has a coffee maker not fancy one. But better than nothing. Old style hair drier which blows warm air. If you have heavy volume, you will spend quite long time to dry. Old style tv in the rm we stayed (129)
The pillows are way too soft. Saw other ppl’a pictures that they got 4 pillows in a rm. after 8 hrs driving. I need a good sleep with good pillows and bed. Bed is okay.
Carpet ain’t clean n old, so bring a pair of flip flops if you don’t wanna step on the old carpet. The blanket has small stains but decided not to let it bug us.
Surprisingly, I didn’t here any foot steps from upstairs. I stayed downstairs for two nites.
The king bed is big enough for two ppl :) I slept pretty decent.
Wifi is really weak if you stay away from the main office building.
This place has swimming pool and jacuzzi. We used it after hiking all day. Perfect.
Will come back to stay again.

WHAT A STEAL! I loved this place. Confused about the bad reviews! Room was absolutely adorable, service in the office was excellent, everything was clean and well put together. Such a good deal for anyone looking to stay in Tahoe. If you’re traveling with a significant other, book the pool view room. It was a tub with jacuzzi jets! Very impressed. So close to heavenly village as well. We had a great time.

Horrible BED BUGS, but even more horrible of a manager.
This establishment had bed bugs, not only that, the way the manager Deon P., handled the situation was ghastly. I stayed between October 18 – 20, checking out early at 1 am due to bed bug infestation.
I called the manager, who instead of calling me directly, used another representative to act as mediator between us on the phone. After explaining the situation to the representative (who was located in Arizona) he then explained it to the manager on the other phone line, in which the manager offered this, «You can leave now and I’ll give you a refund for the last night or you can stay in the room.»
I asked that he (the manager Deon) call me back in which he told the representative to inform me that he would call in the morning. Well he never did, and I, along with the company that booked the room, have been trying for nearly two weeks to contact him, without him returning any of our calls.

I was looking for a apartment/​suite style hotel for a week in Tahoe, and this fit the bill perfectly. I’m one of those people that needs a fridge whenever I stay at a hotel, and in this situation I needed a freezer as well (no mini-​fridge will do). Call me particular, whatever — a girl needs her ice cream when holed up for a week somewhere. I found a king parlor suite at 3 Peaks for a steal at $ 85/​night, and the place was fantastic. I mean, it was bigger than my apartment, and came with a large soaking tub for sore muscles from running all over the Tahoe Rim Trail (also applicable to skiing), a full kitchen (full-​size fridge, microwave, stove top and oven), and balcony.
Front staff was super accommodating and friendly in changing my room when I didn’t want to be poolside (first floor creeps me out).
Only (minor) complaints: they were redoing the parking lot while I was there so (1) parking was scarce and (2) it was insanely noisy throughout the day (though they finished by five); the hot tub was rather chilly (though the pool was abnormally warm); and (3) wi-​fi connection was pretty slow. I assume the parking situation thing was a one-​off (and perhaps why it was so cheap), but I would have preferred a heads-​up before I booked.
Overall, a great option if you are looking for a suite/​apartment style stay in South Lake Tahoe.

My wife and I had a really bad experience here. I was surprised because the last couple of times everything was fine.
We rented a junior king suite. The lights didn’t work in the kitchen. My wife told the front office and they said they were going to send someone out-​nope. It
never happened. 3 days in a row– same runaround– Oh we’ll tell the manager. He never responded.
Then they had work crews doing construction all around the central building. If they would have mentioned it we could have planned accordingly. Nope– just a little
sign in the front office. They blocked off all the parking in front of our door so they could repave. Then they used a vibraplate all day long for two days.
Good luck with afternoon naps. While this was happening they also had a work crew rip off our back balcony iron fence. It took them two days. So four guys on our
back porch basically hollering to each other and making our dogs go bonkers. Not fun sitting in the dark because your kitchen lights don’t work and you can’t open
the drapes because you have guys eating sandwiches and basically looking into your sliding door. What fun.
Now here’s the fun part. They double billed our pet fee. My wife brought it up while she checked us out. I didn’t want to go in because most likely I’d be walking
out in handcuffs. Once again, oh– we’ll tell the manager. Uh-​huh, check’s in the mail again. Whatever. My wife was basically done with these people and just wanted
to get out of there as soon as possible. We knew we were going to take the hit on the billing. We learned our lesson– buh bye 3 peaks. We’ll do our research for
next year at another dog friendly hotel. Oh and they were supposed to email our bill– hasn’t happened yet.

I read a review and I had to laugh. Unilocaler complains about a dog’s barking at a dog resort and loud neighbors. You’re in Lake Tahoe, where people are drinking and gambling and here for a good time, most people don’t be hitting the bed at 9PM, with that being said…
For a pet friendly hotel, this place is great! Tons of grass for your fur babies to do their business on. I like this resort because I like to travel with my fur babies it’s quiet for a dog resort but it can get a little loud. Sometimes people will be walking to into the resort very late a night because it’s a walking distance to a bunch of stores, shops and casino and that can get the dogs barking a little.
Check in is always easy and quick, the people who is working at the front desk is super friendly, helpful and informative. In the lobby they have a pool table for you to play with a small fee. You can also grab a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate as well. They also have coupons for free food and discount for activities.
There’s a swimming pool and a hot tub, that opens from 9AM to 9PM. The resort also has tons BBQ grills and picnic tables available to use if you wanna BBQ. There’s a lot parking, but parking never seem to be enough. They actually have a additional parking in the back of the resort which many customers don’t know about.
I always booked a one bedroom or two bedroom suites with a kitchen. So my reviews are strictly for these rooms. The suites that I stayed in are always clean and has everything you need to stay in and cook if you like. There’s a store near by that’s about less than a 2 minute drive. Kitchen, has about everything you can think of or need to help you cook such as; microwave, refrigerator, pots, pan, blender, knives and etc. A fully equipped kitchenette.
As for the bedrooms, there’s always a balcony in the rooms. The beds are king size and the mattress are soft. Old TV box in the bedroom as well as the living room, there’s a DVD player in the living room but too bad the TV is so small that it’s hard to enjoy watching a movie with your family and friends. Furniture is a bit outdated as well and the bathroom is definitely small.
One thing I didn’t like about this resort is the walls are very thin. So you can hear everything that’s going on at your neighbors. If you want a place that’s quiet then don’t stay here. Because it is a dog friendly hotel, so dogs do tend to bark when people slam doors, start cars, or people outside walking and talking.
So while my friends and I decide to go check out some casino my younger sister and my friend’s younger sister decide to stay in our one bedroom suite to hang out. They had the TV on and were just hanging out when our neighbors decided to call the security on them because they were too loud and our dogs were barking.
If you bang on the wall, because the kids had the TV on too loud, the dogs are going to bark. That’s common sense, so the more you bang on the wall the more it work up the dogs and they will bark.
The wall are so thin that I can even hear our neighbors talk and snore, but you don’t see us banging on our walls or calling the security because you talk to loud or your snoring’s too loud. I mean I think it’s pretty much common sense that a dog resort CAN get loud. I mean what do you expect from a Saturday night? Plus how loud can 2 girls be on a weekend with the TV on be? They’re on their cellphone 90% of the time.
But I understand the resort can’t really do anything about the thin walls. Just sucks we got our self some elderly grumpy couples who like to hit the hay by 8PM on a weekend. If you want a quiet place, you should never choose a dog friendly resort. Maybe a bed and breakfast?
Overall, as long as I’m bringing my dogs to Lake Tahoe this resort will still be my first choice.
