The Maxwell Hotel

I found this hotel on Expedia and I could not have been more pleased! Everyone was extremely pleasant and the décor was beautiful. I really liked that guests could ‘adopt’ Fluffy (a stuffed Husky) and donate to the local animal shelter. I would definitely stay here again!!!

woo hoo! i stayed at the maxwell a couple months ago during a family emergency. and found it the most comfortable hospitable well decorated stay in years! i raved to my sweetheart (of 4 years) of the comfy comforters and the awesome lounge and friendly staff. well, for our 4^th anniversary he chose to treat me to teatro zin zani across the street and i treated him to the maxwell! he loved it as much as i do! as before, i swam often (i have medical issues and 20 minutes of stretches and movement in the pool preps me for walking in heels or recoup from a night sitting 3 hour is one seat with my neck stretched toward a stage). man oh man. my last stay and this stay, i got handed fresh towel. theres a rack, i can take one from the rack, but the frequent perusal of pool by maintenance staff had 3 out of 3 times see i didnt have a towel and got me one and placed near my things! AWE !! then housekeeping checked the garbage and hampers and offered me a bottle water from their cart! but mostly i asked the front desk if they could pipe the music into the pool area. a supervisor personally checked and told me there was a volume knob im welcome either have a staff member adjust in the future or adjust myself. ten minutes later «A» from maintenance came to check if volume was okay. nope, i like it LOUD! and he obliged by cranking it to max for me to jog fast in place in the water! and every time i thank someone they say, its my pleasure, i love what i do. and often they say they love where they work!
so, sweetie is a breakfast eficiando. too filling for me. i won! we had a beverage from barista and a pastry each as we sat in the «tilt a whirl» seats and people watched out the window. you know, my sweetie said, this is as good or better than a full breakfast. we should try this again sometime (FINALLY! a light snack when travel THEN lunch later!) if it werent for the maxwell inviting lobby i never would have converted my sweetie to the «light side.»
Finally … we were checked out, went to our car in garage and an unfortunate guest had a AAA truck fixing a flat tire on their rental IN FRONT OF OUR CAR. we were trapped. let’s go up to that lobby i told my sweetie, do more people watching. we sat very near the bar area and catering staff was using it for a downstairs catering event. they had brought up the unused portion of a pitcher of handmade blackberry lemonade. within moments we were offered some and served refills and treated to wonderful conversation by the two catering managers accessing the bar area. of course, they say WE LOVE WORKING here. i wont ever tire of hearing people say that!
I live local and occasionally stay seattle to save an hour drive home or allow myself to peruse in adult beverage and not have to drive after. the MAXWELL is my number one destination. there are times ive tried to stay at maxwll but it was booked, if that happens again, I may try hotel 5 if i would be allowed access to the maxwell pool to ease my medical issues.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at ever. Love the modern and clean design and European style comforters. Open shower took a bit to get used to but is in line with the design of the hotel. Decided to stay a day longer and the staff managed to re-​book the same room.

The Maxwell Hotel is just fabulous! They really nailed the H in hospitality! They are on point and I appreciate that! I love the service the small details and the location is nothing to complain about. It’s just a happy hotel from the décor‘ to the hospitality bikes in the lobby to the fresh pineapple cup cakes and tea they serve in the afternoon. Awkward moment in the elevator. no longer! Interactive wall art in the elevators to keep you occupied. Two thumbs up!

We recently stayed for an anniversary getaway. Incredibly convenient location to the Seattle Center with a shuttle to other places, we were greeted professionally and warmly. Loved the decorating style, nice-​sized TV with DVD player, even complimentary popcorn. It you like your hotel with light-​hearted character, this is the place for you. The beds were so comfy we slept better than we have in months. I’m already making plans for next year! Well worth the money we spent. Pro tip: The Rock serves a limited breakfast menu for hotel guests. We had breakfast calzones. Good stuff.

I give up my Hilton points for this place.
Staying here is a treat. The parking is easy, yes that’s a big deal to me. I hate traveling across the country to get in a rental and have to search for parking at my hotel.
The staff is quirky and fantastic. True to Seattle, The Maxwell hires well.
The rooms are new, different and comfortable. They thought about you instead of them. It fits more needs than I have and I appreciate that.
I check in tomorrow, I can’t wait. Stay here not there.

I never thought I would ever say this but The Maxwell has to be the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I’ve been to many places in the U.S. and nothing compares to the hospitality of The Maxwell. We arrived around 1pm and our room was already available. Trevor, who was working the front desk, was so pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed. The shuttle schedule, where to eat, if we needed anything at all to call, etc. It’s in a great location and about a 10 min walk to the Space Needle, 15 mins to downtown and before you know it you have walked to Pioneer Square.
The room was amazing for what they charge. Usually you’re crammed into a king bed room and have to shuffle around due to the desk and all the other things the shove in there. Not here! We had so much room to spread out that we were never bumping into each other. And can I just say… I could have lived in that shower for days! What hotel has a walk in shower big enough for 3 people??? You won’t find no scratchy starch towels here either. They were like Snuggle the Bear washed them himself. Let me mention that I could also wrapped the towel around me without any «cheeks’ hanging out either. Each room comes with complimentary bath robes and slippers, as well as, water and popcorn. And having our own fluffy duvets at night tackled the cover hogging problem. Got a sweet tooth? They serve mini cupcakes in the afternoon. YAY! Even better that they’re connected to The Rock Pizza restaurant where you can get a pizza and enjoy in your bedroom… in your bathrobe, under your own duvet after you have taken the best shower ever!
Even though we are walkers, we did use the hotel shuttle to take us to Pike Street. The hotel takes you to various spots so not having a rental car was not a problem. Just make sure you call ahead to schedule as there may be up to an hour wait if you wait till the last minute. I could go on and on about our experience at The Maxwell but to sum it all up… I will never have to search for a hotel again for my visits to Seattle. The Maxwell will have my business, hands down!

Took my family to Seattle to visit last July 4^th (yes I know late review but my College town beckons me once more). All I have to say is that this was a great place for my family and I to stay during our visit to SeaTown! Awesome location to Seattle Center and downtown. We got a deluxe room with 2 queen beds… as mentioned in other reviews about the beds, these were by far the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in, in a hotel. Room amenities were perfect, spacious bath, not much of a view but I didn’t go to Seattle to stare out of my hotel window! Great price, great service, and We’ll be back soon!!! Mahalo!!!

Excellent service. Kudos to all staff. The room was great, clean, the bedding was fantastic– best sleep in a hotel! Slippers and robe were nice touches. In room coffee and fridge, perfect.
The shuttle was great, thank you! The location was perfect for us, several restaurants were close by. The Rock for pizza, awesome.

This hotel is Aaaamazing! We had a friends bachelorette party and the hotel was so accommodating to us! I called a week ahead to make sure the reservation had a note about having the rooms near each. I mentioned it was a bachelorette party (just so they had the heads and keep us away from other guests!) and when I went to check in they upgraded one of our rooms to a suite so we would have enough room. It was absolutely perfect! The rooms were both wonderful, clean and adorable! We booked the Maxwell because the bride is getting married in Hawaii so the pineapple theme was perfect but I will always stay here when we come to Seattle from now on!

What a great find! After our Airbnb fell through we scrambled to find another place to stay on Christmas Day. Not sure how we found the Maxwell but so glad we did… Rye hooked us up with early check in and was super kind and accommodating with our questions (Seattle first-​timers!). Pineapple-​infused water was a special treat for our parched, jet-​lagged selves.
Once we settled into the super cute, well-​lit, spotless room it was so nice we decided to lounge around for a few hours and enjoy a lazy Christmas morning. The huge comfy bed with poofy down duvets, slippers, pineapple-​striped robes, open shower and Keurig machine were all wonderful, as were the staff who kindly answered our multiple calls and gave us a list of restaurants that were open during the holiday. (Not to mention it’s walking distance to the space needle).
We were so enamored with the classy and quirky pineapple hospitality, we decided to stay for two more nights.

My husband did great! He booked this place months in advance for our trip to Seattle and I was always on the verge of cancelling just because I wanted to stay in downtown for all of our time in Seattle. The Maxwell is walking distance to the EMP, Space Needle, and Monorail.
So, first of all we were greeted by friendly staff and the hotel accommodated an early check in for us. The room has complementary water, popcorn, coffee, not to mention the mini coconut cupcakes at night. The room also has a microwave and a mini fridge, coffee maker, robes and slippers. They helped us out so much with the complementary shuttle to some of Seattle’s must see spots like Pikes Market, and the Aquarium. Nick was one of the drivers and was very friendly and gave us some tips on places to visit.
They have a bar and and there is also a restaurant and another bar on site.

New to the Seattle area and we wanted to embrace the city. We’re among those effing Californians who moved «norther», although if it helps, it wasn’t by choice. Told hubby I wanted to stay in the nicest hotel in the city while we had a weekend of Nutcracker, restaurants, rain, old scotch, and fluffy beds. He chose The Maxwell.
The Maxwell has a really cool, urban, funky vibe: strong, vibrant colors in super-​clean, bright surroundings. The place is clean. Really clean.
We asked for a king view room, which I guess we got. We could see the Space Needle if we stood to the far right of the window. Otherwise, it was a street light and parking garage roof.
Beds are cozy on top of hard composite vinyl or pergo-​ish hard floors, so when the guy upstairs with prostate problems gets up every hour, you hear it. We also heard entire conversations around us, although not sure from which room. The hotel is dog-​friendly, but someone forgot to tell the poor dog whining and howling next to us that he was welcome there.
Oddly, we had no toilet paper in the room, and exactly 2 towels, 2 washcloths, and 4 hand towels. So it felt more like a conference hotel experience — hard, efficient, and business-​like. While we wanted to languish in bed and check out late, we actually packed up at 7 a. m and left, so the sum total for us was 16 hours there. If you’re a business traveler, this is a great choice. If you want a fluffy, luxurious, getaway where you can cuddle-​in, smell the rain, open the curtains and absorb the views, this is not the place.

This is by far the best hotel that I think I have ever stayed at; period.
From the moment we checked in until we left, I was just absolutely amazed at how friendly the staff was, how well our rooms were cleaned, and the Amenities!!!
They offer so many freebies that you would only dream to get at other hotels.

I also feel it important to note that there was one ocassion where we missed the shuttle and had tickets for a boat cruise around the Seattle canal. Our friendly front desk man called a cab and they paid the bill to get us to the port on time; yes, they did that for us.
The location is amazing, just walking distance from the Seattle Space needle and maybe a 25 min walk to Pikes Place. There are various excellent restaurants and café’s nearby as well.
I just can’t get over this hotel, wish they were here on the East side.

I loved this hotel! I truly am a hotel snob (I travel all the time for work), and I was so impressed with this hotel. First time here, and from check in to check out, I throughly enjoyed my stay.
One of the biggest things for me is that they offer complimentary parking… who does that in downtown Seattle? None of the other hotels that I’ve stayed at downtown offer that. You are looking at anywhere between $ 30 — $ 50 a night parking, so the fact that the Maxwell does not charge, is simply amazing.
The location is great — near the Space Needle area as well as about a five minute drive to the Queen Anne district. They also offer a complimentary shuttle service to Pike Market and other downtown attractions, which is a great service.
The lobby is nicely decorated and very spacious, and the front desk folks were very helpful. They offer flavored water as well as yummy looking pineapple cupcakes in the afternoon. That’s a really nice touch! I didn’t partake, but they looked delicious, so next time!
My room was bigger than I thought it would be, with two queen beds, a chair and stool, fridge, microwave and desk. They had two bottles of complimentary bottled water as well as a bag of microwave popcorn, again a nice touch. They really do an amazing job with their «Pineapple Hospitality» and go above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
The beds were very comfy, and even though there was a big construction area going on behind the hotel (where my window was facing) they must have double pane windows because I could barely hear anything going on.
Décor is kind of funky boutique, with bold wallpaper on the wall behind the bed, and a multi colored chair with a bright yellow stool. There was also a small foyer with a mirror, when you walk in, so you weren’t walking directly into a room with beds, like normal hotel rooms.
The bathroom was also spacious and had great lighting (which so many other hotels I’ve stayed at don’t). Great water pressure in the large shower and also a good blow dryer (two things I always appreciate).
The only small complaint I have is that they have dispensers for the hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It’s not that big of a deal, but the brand they use has a very strong scent (I believe it was Tommy Bahama). But again, not that big of a deal, and something I can overlook.
Oh yea — they also offer complimentary wi-​fi, which again, not all hotels do. Many hotels require that you be at a certain level with their loyalty program, or it’s complimentary in the lobby, but you have to pay for it in the room. A great feature, that I really appreciated.
Now, I have to tell you that because I travel for work ALL the time I love my frequent flier miles and my hotel miles, but The Maxwell Hotel doesn’t offer a loyalty program (of course I asked when I checked in). Even though this is the case, I will definitely stay here again the next time I’m working in Seattle. I loved it that much! I also got a great rate under $ 200, which is unheard of for a nice hotel in downtown Seattle this time of year. The Marriott Courtyard that I normally stay at (again, it’s normally about the points with me) was over $ 250 a night, and you have to pay for parking.
I can’t say enough about how great this hotel is, and I cannot wait to stay here again. If you are looking for a hotel with a boutique feel close to downtown, check out the Maxwell. You will not be sorry! I’m so glad I tried this place out.
*I have now stayed at around 10 hotels in downtown Seattle over the years, and this one is definitely in my top three for sure!

We had an excellent stay at The Maxwell Hotel! My husband, two daughters and I stayed there for two nights about a week ago and our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer.
Our kids are 11 and 12 years old, and it was very convenient to leave our car parked, buy bagels or muffins downstairs in the morning and walk to the Space Needle, EMP, Chihuly Garden and Glass. The second morning, we took the monorail to Westlake Center and then walked to Pike Place Market.
Note for families: there is no room service and the restaurant downstairs is quite loud. This was not an issue for us as we had planned our meals while we were out exploring, but something to keep in mind.
The Maxwell Hotel was a splurge for us, but well worth it! The location, friendly staff, comfort and cleanliness of the room, view of the Space Needle, and delicious mini cupcakes make The Maxwell Hotel one of my top favorite hotels that I’ve ever stayed in!

The front desk manager Aaron was awesome as he arranged for a bouquet of flowers to surprise my girlfriend when we checked into the room. He even went the extra mile to provide gluten-​free cupcakes as they normally offer pineapple cupcakes to guests as part of their daily service. Promote that man!
Front desk agents Reva and Melody were always helpful in providing restaurant ideas, how to get places and always said hello and goodbye coming and going.
Free shuttle to various locations in town. Kevin the shuttle driver was friendly and gave insight on things to do in Seattle.
Our room was fun, funky and not cramped. From the double duvets to mini fridge and microwave there are many amenities that bridge a Comfort Inn and upper class Hyatt like hotel.
I would definitely stay here again as it was close to many sites, restaurants, markets and in a fun neighborhood. Keep up the great service, attitude and fun Maxwell Hotel. You were a treat!

Checking in is done with human interaction (at least initially) with the addition of your needing to read a computer screen (to agree to the fine print), but before long you’re holding your swipe card and directed to the elevator to find your room.
Don’t forget to swipe in the elevator or you’re riding a elevator musical go-​round due to the elevator not going to your floor you want without a swipe first. Admittedly it almost made me feral to have to share the elevator with others after having swiped for our floor. What kind of security is it if others can simply get in behind you and access a floor they might not be on? But I digress. I am not feral and I really didn’t care it just bothered me.
But I get ahead of myself. We arrived (and that was a story itself, however its not for here). NOTE: ROY has two ROY’s — what I mean or am trying to specifically remember is that ROY NORTH (or west or whatever it was) is NOT this ROY. So don’t have a conniption if you’re driving, driving, driving and not finding the big blue hotel signage. You’re simply on the wrong ROY. (Thanks to the dude walking his dog who had more of a clue than we did) YAY.
Anyhow back to the hotel. Arrival in the temp parking (meaning park for a few moments to check in — good luck with that) and then use your room swipe key to access the underground parking. Yes it’s CRAMPED and yes somehow there are SUV’s parked in micro compact spots but if all spots are indeed filled (and expect them to be filled as they list on their site as parking as first come first serve) simply pull aside, cross your fingers and hope someone leaves soon. Upon first arrival there was 2 spots. One next to a post with only-​in-​your-​breath-​go-​behind-​two-​cars room to squeeze our bags and us away from the car and another that gave a bit more room and less breath holding. (It’s a good thing if your car side mirrors can fold flat beside your car — really its a GOOD THING).
Parked it was my suggestion to leave the car nestled there for the evening (good tip. note that) as later we walked around and were glad to not have to play hunt and peck the parking search. **You are going to want to have a smart phone and to install «BESTPARKING» in order to not go broke and still manage to park — we went to pike market the day we left and paid $ 3USD for a 1pm-​midnight spot in a spacious non-​cash poke in a hole spot — don’t know the poke in a hole spots? you will. yuck.
We never made it to the pool — probably because although it was heated, it didn’t sound like jacuzzi and that sounded more enjoyable after a cold day.
Hallways seem to go on and on and are painted almost fluorescent yellow but décor is still matching the bed linen and such and well its clean and at least isn’t disgusting which are the more important aspects of your stay isn’t it? Beds are comfy although the no shower curtain angulation meant needing to close the bathroom door to have a shower or get a chill. Plenty of hot water although no noticeable fan for shower fog clearing. Our room had a free bag of microwave popcorn, two free bottles of water and 2 portions of coffee and 1 tea. The tv was huge and offered a multitude of cable channels and the bathroom had more than sufficient linen with liquid soap containers on shower and bathroom walls (which was cool).
Sounds do transfer a bit but not so much as to stop you from staying there — perhaps its all dependent on the people staying there I guess. A screamer is a screamer regardless to wall thickness (I refer to crying babies/​loud parties etc).
They have a cupcake and coffee 3pm-​7pm thing but I found the timing not to work out for us and wished it was a more breakfast time thing. Oh well.
Oh and they offer free bicycle borrowing (with helmet/​lock) to all people staying at the hotel — on a first come first serve.
I’d LOVE to attend again and recommend this place indeed.
