I was really looking forward to getting fresh, new contacts, but this place wouldn’t accept my valid prescription for contacts from the VA because it didn’t have a brand name on it.
Also would not accept a box from my previous prescription.
No’s all around. Will not return. Would not recommend.

Rebeccah is awesome! Love the customer service here and they are always playing good music. Every service they provided me was really laid back and comfortable (going over the details of my insurance and booking the appointment over the phone, exam, contact fitting and consultation for a new user, and picking out new frames). They let you wander around and grab any frame you want to try on. Rebeccah only offered her opinions when I asked and wasn’t pushy at all. When I went in to select new frames I even got a complimentary cleaning and adjustment on my old frames that had been warped. Totally recommend this business.

First walked into this store in July of 2014… here we are July of 2015. I have given $ 690 $ towards a set of glasses… they now have my money and are unwilling to respond to my calls… this store has had a turnover of employees and nor can they find my invoice or glasses??? I have left numerous phone messages with no response from them. Steer clear people. go elsewhere.

After losing my glasses recently, I called for an appointment and they fit me in 2 days later (not an emergency). The staff were very kind and helpful, especially Autumn. I walked out with an even better prescription than I had before, and Autumn even gave me a pair of loaner glasses in my chosen frames/​prescription to cover me until my insurance-​paid pair with added coatings (VSP) were ready. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service I received.

I had been going to this place for years, but I may switch, as the prices are just too high now.
I give them three stars for 1 Recently finding me a place that would fix my broken glasses, since they could not do it and 2. being so good in the past. and 3. The eye doctor telling me ten years ago NOT to get the fashionable surgery on my eyes to correct my vision, saying it would not help me enough.

I just think they need to wake up a bit, and realize the competition has much, much lower prices. It may be because they are in such a high rent area, but this is not 20 years ago, when there was less competition.
I can pay half this much, and get the same service, if I go to a Big Box eyeglass place — you know the ones.
The staff are nice enough, and I wish them well, though there has been complete turnover from the old days (except for the eye doctor).

LOVE my new Tom Ford sunglasses. The staff is simply awesome– super helpful and knowledgeable and spent a lot of time helping me find the perfect pair and going over all the lens options. A wonderful experience overall.

Tiffany literally dropped what she was doing when I walked in. That kind of attention on the hill is so unusual, it really stood out in my mind. She gave me enough space to look around for myself but constantly checked back in with her expert opinion. She seemed to understand my style (i.e., actually listened to me rather than looking at my face-​shape) and didn’t recommend anything that wasn’t in the family of things I was already considering. She even managed to schedule me in over another cancellation to help me move things along faster.
Tiffany also called my insurance to verify my benefits to help me make a financial decision on which lenses and frames would fit within my budget.
Exceptionally kind, resourceful, and generous with her time.
I will definitely be back!

I have yet to go here, but my first experience is calling to make an appointment, leaving a message and not getting a call back.

They’re fine, I suppose. Huge props for being able to fit me in same day a couple weeks ago. No props at all, though, for 1) moving my follow up appointment, or 2) making me wait 20 extra minutes for the doctor to show up in the office (!) for my follow up.
I’m writing this from their waiting area and think I’ll just be leaving… this is no way to run a business.

Negative stars. My order was over a week late. When it was supposed to be on time, I called to find out «the lab broke your glasses, so we will reorder them.» I guess they didn’t think telling me was a plan… after waiting 4 days after the ETA for the «new» glasses, I had to call to find out «oh yes they’re right here.» Hmmmm I don’t think they like calling their customers, perhaps they should loan out a crystal ball so you know when your order is ready. So when I go in, I asked for a discount. The very notion brought about a hissy fit of «it’s the labs fault, not ours.» I couldn’t believe they would string me along, not call me, and then scoff at the idea a discount might be in order. To say the least, I refused the glasses. They are complete f’n morons.

I was helped by Brandon. He helped me fine; he was kind and guided me through the process of selecting the best eyeglasses lens options for me.
Why a one star rating, you may ask? Here’s why.
I went there on Nov 12^th 2014, ordered and paid for two lenses in full. I broke my glasses, such that I needed to wear my contact lenses for 16 – 18 hours per day. Anybody in the Optometry industry would tell you that length of usage per day is not recommended at all.
I have high prescriptions (higher than 7.00 for both eyes), so I needed to rely on using contact lenses all day long until I receive my new glasses from Hour Eyes. I explained that to them. They said normally lens would take approximately 7 business days to be ready for pick up. I requested them to expedite the process, in which they agreed. They said it might be ready for pick up within 4 – 5 business days. Great. Thank you.
I called in multiple times in the next couple weeks, only to be told that my glasses haven’t arrived. It was the second week of December when Brandon was the one who picked up the call, and said he would investigate into why my lens haven’t arrived.
Fast-​forward to 16^th December, I was notified that my order arrived.
I don’t know if the problem lies with their supplier or laboratory, but waiting for more than a month wasn’t a pleasant experience, especially when they had the knowledge that I explicitly stated and requested that I needed the glasses asap.
Oh and for the $ 290 that I paid, they did not give any eyeglasses case that would cost a mere $ 10 in Amazon. They said the frames were not purchased in Hour Eyes, so they couldn’t give me one.
I bought at least 10 brand new eyeglasses (or their lenses) in the past ten years, and never have I walked off any store without an eyeglasses case. That’s plain ridiculous.

Probably the most awful experience of my life.
VERY UNHELPFUL, the staff has NO idea what they are doing, completely incompetent, full of ego and pride that they can’t even admit their own mistake or answer any basic questions regarding optics. Maybe they are good at selling you frames, but then they should just be a fashion store which they even fail at that.
Bad culture.
Bad service.
Incompetence.
Disrespect.
Uncommunicative.
and full of empty promises.
They did a new prescription for me. Not only was the prescription AWFUL and prevented from seeing and working everyday, when they adjusted it, they forgot to write down very important information, so when I went to a different place to get lenses, I couldn’t even use the prescription! the staff from the other place asked me, well this information is absolutely incomplete we can’t order anything with this.
I asked them 4 times to send me the new prescription with email, they didn’t. They didn’t even call me when I had my lenses in. my prescription is written on a business card… with incomplete information.
I’m not even going to get in to the fact that they could not pencil me in a normal time. I called them friday, didn’t hear back, called them again saturday they said they would call me back after a customer, called me back saturday 5 minutes before closing and said they couldn’t do anything today because they close soon and next they open is Tuesday.
WOW. Waste of Time, energy, money and definitely caused a TON of stress.
This place should not exist and please don’t go here. If you are serious about your eyes, do them a favour and take them to a professional place that knows whats happening. It is your body.

Despite the staff being friendly and helpful, I couldn’t bring myself to give the shop more than one star due to the incompetence of their Optometrist. I went to have my prescription updated and purchase a new pair of glasses while I had vision coverage. The staff was helpful, and I found a pair of frames I liked, and set up an appointment with their Eye Doctor.
When I went back to pick up my glasses, I tried them on, and noticed that they seemed to do nothing — that’s when I found out they had given me a prescription for nearsightedness! This, despite me clearly saying that I only wore my glasses when reading & working during the exam… apparently, I had a very very very slight flaw in my distance vision (very very slight — in fact, I can see & read things further away than anyone I know). After learning of the optometrist’s f’up, the staff had new lenses made using my (nearly 3 years old) previous glasses.
Once the calendar year was up, I went to a different Optometrist at a different shop (who was much better, she actually listened and explained what she was doing). As I knew, my prescription had changed. I got a new pair of glasses from that shop and they were awesome! However, my glasses from Hour Eyes are now a $ 300 paperweight after less than a year. When I can afford to, I will go to another shop to have new lenses put in them.

This place saved my life today! I was told by my optometrist that I couldn’t wear contacts for two weeks, which meant I was stuck with my ugly backup glasses I’ve had for four years. I went into this store a little after they opened on a Saturday morning, and all the employees were cheerful and helpful. Nick in particular was a huge help, giving honest opinions. Then, the best part… I had my new glasses in LESS than an hour! I highly recommend this place for all your glasses needs.

I was a disappointed when my daughter showed up for her appointment and was informed that it was 2 hours later then the one we were given upon the initial appointment phone call.
I was disappointed that the typical eye exam tests were not given. I was shocked when my daughter walked out of the exam in less than 10 minutes.
I was disappointed that I paid $ 250 for a pair of glasses (after insurance) to find out later they had no warranty. Lesson learned: before dropping a couple hundred dollars on glasses, ASK if a warranty is available.

This place is great. Every since I bought a pair of Persol sunglasses at their old location i knew i would be coming back! They have been tuning up my sunglasses for a while now

My review is based on my contact lens fitting exam experience here.
The eye exam was fine — staff seemed knowledgable and personable. They didn’t mind answering questions. Overall a 4-​star experience — nothing that blows your mind away.
For contact lens exam, they said they would order a few trial lens (asked me which brand I wanted and I told them) and those would arrive in a couple days.
One week later:
I called them up to check on the status and the person on the phone told me that they ordered a non-​existent pair of lenses (no idea how/​why one would do this). I was offered some alternatives and I picked the one that would be available the soonest. The person on the phone said that those should arrive in a day or two.
One week later:
I called them up again to check on the status and I was that lens they had ordered is on backorder and it would arrive «soon»!
Yet another week passes by:
Called again, they said it will arrive in a day or two.
3 days later:
Lenses actually arrived! Scheduled my appointment for the fitting exam
On the day of the exam:
My appointment was at 1 30 (at least that’s what I was told). I show up and the staff tells me that they had me down for 1p and offer to rebook my appointment for another day. No one seemed to care about the discrepancy in the scheduled time!
To summarize, its been a month (to the date) since I got my eye exam and I am yet to get a prescription for my contact lenses. Looking at reviews from other users, this seems to a common theme with this shop. If you have the time and patience to deal with all of this, I highly recommend this place. If not, I would look elsewhere.

Staff is incompetent, disorganized, and are liars. Doctor John J Bluff was a complete jerk to me and to his staff. Avoid this place! Do not support this business.
I know this is a lengthy review, but I encourage you to read about my experience before you consider doing business with these people.
I was a first-​time customer. I found out about Hour Eyes Optical using my insurance provider’s website. I called them up, explained that my insurance will pay for either contacts OR frames and that my plan was to use my insurance to buy contacts from them, and to buy new glasses later, myself — out of pocket — elsewhere. I explained that I wanted them to fit me with some contacts and then provide me with whatever information I’d need to buy glasses online. The guy on the phone told me that wouldn’t be a problem. Sweet. So I book an appointment with them for 11 AM the next day.
Day of my appointment, I show up on-​time. The store is pretty dead. One of the employees asks me why I was there, so once again I explained my situation to them (how I wanted to buy contacts from them using my insurance, and how I also needed those measurements to buy glasses elsewhere). They say cool, no problem. They ask me to wait to see the doctor. After nearly 20 minutes, someone finally asks me to follow them into a room where they took some photos of my eyes and whatnot. Afterwards, they tell me to wait again to see the doctor. I sat there for another 20 minutes or so, and at this point I start to wonder what the heck was going on.
Finally, they tell me that the doctor was «stuck in traffic» and that he was going to cancel his appointments for the rest of the day. Having taken time off from work for this appointment, I was frustrated, and after telling them about my disappointment, they agreed to reschedule my appointment later that evening, which I thought was weird because the dude had just told me that the doctor was canceling all of the remaining appointments for the day. But hey, I thought maybe this new appointment was with a different doctor or something, I don’t know. So I agree to come back later that day.
Later that day, I show up on-​time for my rescheduled appointment. When Dr Bluff and I went into the eye exam room in the back, he asked me why I had made the appointment. Once again, I explained my situation (how I wanted to use my insurance to buy contacts from them, and that I also wanted them to provide me with whatever measurements I’d need to buy glasses myself out-​of-​pocket elsewhere) and the guy rages on me.
Dr Bluff became EXTREMELY hostile and rude to me when I asked him to provide me with a print out of my prescription and pupil distance measurements. He was inexcusably derisive, lecturing me about how buying frames online was a bad idea. All I did was ask him to measure the distance between my pupils. I had clearly communicated my plan to their office at least three times at this point, and if this was going to be a problem, they should have told me earlier. Besides, I was going to buy contacts from them, so it’s not like I was only asking them to give me an exam and split, so I don’t see what his problem was. Regardless, the way he treated me was unacceptable and offensive.
When I confronted him about his attitude and about how he missed my appointment earlier in the day, he tried to blame his staff, saying that he never works on Tuesdays before 2 PM and that my appointment was made by mistake. Since this was not what his staff had told me earlier, I told him that his staff lied to me and said he missed my appointment because he was stuck in traffic. He did not apologize for wasting my time, or for the fact that his staff lied to me. Instead, he walked me back into the lobby and found the guy that booked my appointment with me on the phone. He then proceeded to chastise this employee publicly, in front of me and all of the other staff and customers, which was awkward and embarrassing for everybody involved.
At this point I am disgusted with his behavior, so I told him that I would not be returning or doing business with them again in the future, and that I would be telling as many people as I possibly could to avoid doing business with them. I asked him to make things right by providing me with the measurements I’d need to buy frames elsewhere, and he begrudgingly did so, but it was very obvious that he put in the minimum amount of effort required to examine my eye sight and prescribe lenses. When he finished the exam, he briskly left me to wrap things up with the same guy he humiliated earlier in the lobby. Needless to say I promptly left after receiving my prescription and pupil measurements, and did not buy any contact lenses.
I urge you to avoid this business because:
— they wasted my time
— they are evidently extremely disorganized
— the staff is dishonest
— most of all because Dr John J Bluff has no respect for his employees or customers and treats everybody like dirt

Totally blown away by my experience here. My Group Health optomitrist recommend their «Eye Shop,» disgusted by their selection and not accepting VSP I consulted my trust Unilocal (whoo hoo!) to guide me in the right direction.
Convieniently around the corner from Group Health on Broadway, I was blown away by the instant and friendly service. Nick let me look around myself, no pressure, but when I was on my 20^th pair of ridiculous looking specs he pulled out a few and BAM found my perfect pair. 30 minutes later I was all set up, glasses to arrive within 7 – 10 business days.
I also liked how the glasses were set up by designer/​brand, rather than male/​females. Kudos to acknowledging us crazy kids these days may prefer less gender specific duds. All different ranges of prices, so don’t be deterred that it’s too fancy pants for you. A great selection of glasses for all types, from grandma readers to omgaaah they match with my scarf hipster goggles.
Walk in, find awesome glasses with awesome customer service, about 30 minutes later all ready to go? I’m a big fan.
A must try when glasses shopping.
