I felt like I had stayed out past curfew and my parents were trying to put the fear of God into me about teen pregnancy.
We called ahead with the specs of the tire I needed. Whoever picked up the phone confirmed they had it. Upon arrival, we asked for the tire and immediately the lecture began — WAIT — «lecture?», you may ask.
«No one called. We don’t have that tire.» It was at this point myself and my comrade-​in-​flat-​tire-​battle looked at one another and were like, «Okay, no prob. Onto the next one.»
BUT NO. The lecture continued about how the shop was already closed. How no one called. Okay maybe some DID CALL, but we must have read off the wrong tire specs to him — besides the tire we want wouldn’t cost us $ 45, but actually $ 65+tax — But I thought you didn’t even have the tire?
Moot point. JUST RELEASE US. PLEASE, good sir.
I’m sure the collective Big Al does good work. The place may not be pretty, but looking at how many cars were coming in and out, they seemed to be busy. This gentleman OBVIOUSLY had some knowledge to spare. But when the rain is coming down and you need a tire in a hurry before everyone else closes… yeah, not the best time for the third degree of scolding.
No tire acquired after all. Good news though, dad: Not pregnant!

Al is the man I’ve know him for a long time and he’s always friendly and kind to everyone. He runs his business no differently, I needed just one ²²⁵⁄₅₅ 16 tire for my Celica and I decided to give him a call. He told me there was one and he gave me a fair price on mount, balance, an the tire itself. Went there to get it done and there was no surprises, Al and his helper got the job done and I was out of there in less than 30 minutes. He also warrantees the installation for 90 days. Overall great experience from an honest man I couldn’t be happier to support a small business in the Seattle area. Shop looks old but is organized with tires and the location is very easy to find on Bitter Lake and Aurora. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to purchase a set of used tires. He also sells and installs new tires in certain sizes. Thanks a million Al!

I needed one tire for my car and couldn’t really afford a new one. Based on Unilocal I found Al’s and headed over. Within minute they had me sorted out and even showed me some tips and tricks for the next time I need to change a tire. They pointed out a couple issues with my other tires but weren’t pushy about it. The process was quick, the tire was affordable and in great shape and I’ll definitely be heading back there next time I need a tire.

I’ve called Al three times now, each time looking for something different, whether it was advice on my tires, a great price on some compatible used ones, or even just on how much money I should spend on my car, and each time, he patiently and sensibly gave me advice that anyone else would have made me pay for. It didn’t matter if I was coming to buy tires from him or not, he just wanted me to make the decision that worked for me and my car and my financial situation. You can’t get any better than that, and I certainly would recommend both him and his services to any of my friends. Other used tire places I called wouldn’t even tell you what they had in stock, only to drive down there and find out there wasn’t much of anything that would fit. THANKS Al, much obliged!

I drove in thinkin I would need 4 tires but Al showed me I could rotate one and saved me bundle. I went with 2 studded tires for only $ 100 while discount tire wanted 140 each tire and les schwab wanted 160 each.
It may be a month early for studs but while ppl are waiting hours & overtaking for theirs, I got mine baby!

I didn’t personally interact with Al but my dad did. I had a tire on an old rim that wouldn’t hold air. I thought I needed a new rim and sent my dad up there to get one for me. Al looked at it and, even though he could have made more money selling me a new rim, informed my dad that the rim just needed to be cleaned up a bit. He did the work right then, charged a very reasonable fee and sure enough the thing hasn’t leaked since!

We chose Al’s Used Tires from Unilocal.Called him up and explained that we needed cheap used tires put on a small boat trailer. He quoted a reasonable price and we asked if he could do it in 30 minutes. He said yes. We raced downstairs and hooked up the boat, and got to Al’s place in 22 minutes. Pulled into his business and told him we were there for the tires we had spoken about on the phone. He looked bewildered, and said, «I can’t do that.» Taken aback, we informed him that we had just talked to him 22 minutes before, and he said he could do it! He reiterated that he couldn’t do that. We went back and forth and finally EXTRACTED from him that he didn’t want to block his driveway with a boat trailer (17 feet) while he put tires on it because he might miss another customer. We informed him that he had just missed US, and, further, that he was retarded. He stared at us as we drove away. AVOID AVOID AVOID. We went up the street and paid double for new tires, but ZERO hassles. You can’t be this damned stupid and stay in business long. NO ONE needs this kind of aggravation or waste of time and energy. Really, truly pissed.

Got used tires here. I think I could have gotten them a bit cheaper if I had bargained, but the price wasn’t outrageous at all. Quick service, had me in and out in about 15 minutes. Tires still work!

Consistently great, fast service, and very reasonable pricing. In addition to tire service, Al sells used tires in sets of four, so this can be a cash-​saving option when you need a set. Also sells some brands of new tires. I always call here first with any tire needs. Good businessman, good citizen.
