History

Established in 2000.

Dr. Douglas Mackenzie came from Portland, Oregon to Santa Barbara in 2000 and began Pacific Plastic Surgery, a practice dedicated to providing exceptional plastic surgery and nonsurgical esthetic services. The practice has been at its current location on State Street since October 2013. Dr. Mackenzie performs his outpatient surgeries upstairs at Surgical Arts Surgical Center.

Dr. Douglas J. Mackenzie graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1989, and completed a general surgery residency at Cedars-​Sinai Medical Center in 1994. He did his plastic surgery training in New York City at New York Hospital/​Cornell University Medical Center, and completed a fellowship in Portland at Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Mackenzie continued as Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University. He moved to Santa Barbara in 2000.

Dr. Mackenzie served as a Flight Surgeon in the Air National Guard and separated in 2012 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He has a son in college and a young son with his lovely wife Diane.

I have been seeing Cassie for her laser services for two years now and I highly recommend her! I have very sensitive, fair skin and was reassured by Cassie’s conservative techniques that my skin would not be damaged. I started laser hair removal last year and I’m thoroughly pleased with the results. My hair has dramatically been removed with lasting results. This year I had my first laser IPL on my face. Again, the results far exceeded my expectations. I had a combination of brown and red spots which have all disappeared after two IPL treatments. Now my face is clear and more youthful/​plump appearance. Cassie uses the latest technologies and the best laser equipment. I was also surprised that the laser treatments were virtually painless. Cassie is friendly and compassionate– I find that each session goes by quickly with her cheerful attitude.

2 weeks ago I had a had a breast lift and implant replacement surgery by Dr. Mackenzie. My surgery sounds simple however the surgeon I went to last time made a MESS of my breasts so the job was HUGE! Dr. Mackenzie did the most amazing job of fixing all the problems and giving me exactly what I wanted! Not only was my surgery a huge success, the office staff is AMAZING!!! They are all extremely kind always willing to answer questions or accommodate in any way! I have had 2 post op appointments thus far and the nurse Cassie is a doll!!! She takes extra time to answer my questions and is so sweet! The entire staff and Dr. Mackenzie have made me feel beautiful again! Thank you all!

First off, I would like to disclose that I am an employee at this office but am writing this review as a patient of Dr. Mackenzie’s and I also frequently have Jessica do my injectables. Prior to working here, I heard Dr. Mackenzie’s name come up over and over as a recommended surgeon when inquiring about surgery for myself and after doing surgery with him, I am beyond thrilled with my results. I recommend him to all of my friends and family not because I work here, but because he is truly a gifted surgeon. His results are very natural looking and he is also very kind, humble and down to earth… not exactly what you would expect from a plastic surgeon but just another reason I speak highly of his practice.
I would strongly urge anyone considering a procedure to at least meet with Dr. Mackenzie and not just take my word for the things I have said, but to come see for yourself. I have been at this practice for 2 ½ years and am still the newest employee which I feel speaks volumes for this office. I truly look forward to coming to work everyday and feel blessed to get to work with such an amazing staff that practically feel like family.
