I just had Action Air out to do a checkup on my AC system that they installed 3 years ago through the Costco program. Travis was my technician and he was great, answered all my questions and gave me advice about setting the registers properly. He also recommended a starter kit for the outside compressor and since I want this system to last a long time it was a no brainer to add that. It immediately cut the startup amp draw by 40 amps which is good for keeping my electric usage down.

Highly recommended! Excellent service all around and very competitive pricing. We got four total quotes for a complete new home heating and air system and the sales rep I worked with really took care to design the right system for our needs. The installers were prompt, efficient and very courteous. They took care to keep our home clean and made sure our cat didn’t get out. It’s great to do business with a local family run business that has their act together :-)

Steve came to my old adobe home to provide an estimate for an A/​C install. Andy and Sergio came to install. All employees of Action that we dealt with were very nice, courteous and professional. The job was done fast and clean and the system works great. I would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in A/​C or heating.

Had a complete A/​C and heating system installed by Merrill and his guys at Action three weeks ago as mine was 28 years old. My wife and I couldn’t be happier. The job started when scheduled, the crew was on time each day and cleaned up each day when done. Everything was done as promised and per contract. I will definitely be a repeat customer. FIRE! In February 2015 we had a fire in our outside compressor unit. Core installed our system but they were no longer in business. Action stepped up to the plate and handled our crisis like it was their own personal issue. I was floored at how professional and thoughtful everyone I dealt with at Action was regarding getting our unit replaced. Ken replaced it in just under 2.5 hours. Quiet. Clean. Perfect.
Months later, we started to notice that our new unit would run longer than normal. Ack! The dreaded leak. After months of Action Air trying to find a leak we had in our system, Ken found it in about an hour. Big fat stupid evaporator coil made of thin aluminum was the culprit!
During those 8 months, Action Air did NOT charge us for the labor or additional freon until they could locate the actual leak. I’m so impressed with the service team, Robert the Service Manager and of course… Ken. If you have a leak, request Ken. He will find it.
Such a super cool company to deal with from tops to tails. Everyone is really calm, thoughtful and happy to help. They truly want to make sure you get the best service and you are happy. Maintenance is a key point with Action and quite frankly, they are right! I’m no sucker, I signed up for the bi-​annual maintenance service agreement as well. They made me feel like I was their most important customer. In this day and age, that’s not common.

We had our entire HVAC system replaced this year as our old system was pushing 27 years. After having 4 different companies come bid the job we chose Action. They were neither the cheapest nor the most expensive, but what they offered for their price was far superior to the competition. The sales person was knowledgeable, experienced, and thorough. The installation team was punctual, clean, and professional. After install we had an issue with some strange noises coming from our brand new system. Action was quick to get a field supervisor out to diagnose and subsequently fix the problem. Every step of the way this company has been professional, offered quality service, and an excellent product. I can’t say enough good things about them here without sounding like a cheerleader, but yay Action!

I have had a home in Solana Beach for 30 years and have never found a satisfactory air conditioning company until now. I was referred to Action Air Conditioning by Hanna Plumbing in Vista. (I also love them). They sent Ken over who was fantastic. He not only solved my immediate problem, but came up with a solution for a vent issue I had been dealing with for years. Not sure what the negative reviews are about (someone tell Donna there is no such word as costed). I am a very particular consumer and someone who knows A/​C (in cars anyway) and I usually do all home repairs & upgrades myself. Larry Swain was the only salesman/​estimator who actually listened to what I wanted & where I wanted it. I think having been an installer gives him (and his customers) a big advantage. I was adding A/​C to a 25 year old home. Two other companies wanted to sell what they wanted me to have. Larry worked with me and and quoted exactly what I wanted. Jason & the installation crew installed it exactly how I wanted it, and now I have a system that works perfectly — all for a fair & reasonable price. Everyone I dealt with at Action was responsive & respectful, especially Alicia who managed to get the job scheduled quickly. Thank you to all, I am a very satisfied (cool) customer.
Bottom line: Action Air is the kind of company you hope for; qualified people doing good work at a fair price. Unilocal no more.

Action Air came to our home to service our AC system. We were so lucky they sent Travis to us. I am sure other employees are also great. Took time to answer many questions we had. Explained their Service Contract. It’s a great deal. We only hope Travis stays with Action Air so we get to see him again

Very happy with my new system from Action Air. I used these guys once 10 years ago, and am happy with my decision to be a repeat customer. This is a good company.
We installed a new high end 5 ton system — I’m planning on living in this house for a long time, so we went all out. The guys came out, demoed the existing system off the roof, replaced all the ducting and vents, built out a catwalk, and installed a new system in the attic.
It was a big job, so they ended up spending 5 days at the house. I got to know the team pretty well. Tim, the supervisor was awesome, and the install team led by Roger was really top notch.
Great install team — you could tell they like their company, and their attitude made all the difference. We just finished a huge kitchen remodel — I’ve worked with literally dozens of tradesmen over the past 3 years. These guys were great.
Pricing was comparable to the other quotes we received, and the promotion they ran with Costco ended up giving us a big discount.
100% recommend this company.

I learned of action heating and air through the Costco consumer program. I received a timely call from their representative Bob and we scheduled the time for him to come and review our needs. From the beginning I was extremely impressed with his desire to provide the air conditioning unit that fits our needs. There were more expensive options yet based on his experience he felt the one we chose would be the best for our home. over the last two days HIs install team has been in our home and I could not be more pleased. Brock and Chris know their products and are extremely courteous and respectful of their surroundings. because it was a two day project their clean up occurred at the end of the first day and when they left at the end of the project my wife commented she could not beleve any one had been there. this gives me confidence in the Lennox product we purchased and I look forward to a cooler summer. their service is what we must come to expect in the 21^st century. I heartily endorse this company to anyone who places by you on respect, good product an excellent guest care and quality workmanship in high priority.

DO NOT go with Action Air in San Marcos, CA. Bob the sales man who came out was very nice and kind but the owner and the customer service is HORRIBLE! I went to Costco to get a quote for a new air conditioner and that is when Bob came out to our house. It all was going great and we setup a date and time for an install and paid the $ 5000 for a new AC (14 seer 3 ton Lennox) but shortly found out they carry other brands besides Lennox so I asked if I could compare prices. BIG MISTAKE! I spoke with Casey and he said he would look into getting me other prices and call me back the next day. The next day came and I didn’t hear from him so I called a day later at 12pm and they said he would call me back, I called again at 2pm (they said he was in a meeting), called at 4pm (has my note and will call me), and when I called at 5pm (right before they closed… in another meeting) {Thought, wow this guy must be pretty special, he’s in a lot of meetings} and the front desk girl said he would call me before he left for the day… guess what, NO CALL!!! I then got a text from Bob saying Casey would not be calling me. I called back the following day to talk with Casey and they said he was in a meeting and asked for me to hold, I held on the phone for 20 minutes before I hung up and called back, each time I called back I was put on hold and no one picked up (Another thought… are they messing with me). At this point I’m really frustrated and asked to talk to the owner, Greg Gill. I was put on hold and no one picked up… (3^rd thought… I give up). Greg finally called me back and was extremely rude and just raved that he has some award from the BBB and has been a businessman for 40 years and did not care that no one was calling me back. (Final thought… There is no way I’m doing business with Action Air).
Ironically I was telling my co-​worker about this and she said not to go with them either, she said that she used them and when her heater needed maintenance they did not uphold the warranty and it was like pulling teeth to get someone to come out to take a look at it then charged her $ 400 for a replacement part that she found online for $ 50 and did it herself.

We used Action Air to install Solar, I am more than satisfied with everyone that I worked with. All the employees were professional, kind and always willing to go an extra mile, especially our rep Benjamin Jones. Mr. Jones made us feel like he was taking care of his own family, not customers.
I will defiantly use Action for any of our A/​C or heating needs, and will be sure to refer them. Thanks everyone at Action air, and I can’t wait to get my first electric bill. =D

Not sure what the negative reviews are about. These guys were by the far the most professional and knowledgeable technicians we dealt with. We had 4 contractors quote us on a complete air system replacement and the addition of an air conditioner. Not the cheapest bid, but you get what you pay for. They estimated a 2-​day install and finished the entire job in 6 hours. Came home from work and everything was working and our house was clean. Didn’t know they were ever there. Fantastic service and professionalism.

ActionAC was great. Very competitive pricing, good advice, quick and high quality installation, friendly installers.
I had a new Lennox XP25 heat pump system fitted to a house that never had AC before. They beat SEARS on price by over $ 2k, and the XP25 is significantly more efficient than what SEARS was offering.
The Action AC engineer figured the system would be more efficient at heating if the return duct was moved to the attic — the opposite to what SEARS said (and some others). After nearly 1 year of continuous use heating and cooling my house to 68–72 °F 24/​7, my electricity consumption confirms this.
The XP25 uses around 12kWh on coldest winter days (45F), 8kWh on warmest summer days (100F), for a 2000sqft house. My house has solar electricity, which produces an average of 20kWh per day — more than enough to run the heat pump!

I had the worst experience ever with this company. Their people totally lack the expertise and knowledge to perform their job. Not only the technician who came to my house diagnosed completely inaccurately the problem with my Lennox mini split air conditioner, the guy from the home office, after many follow-​up phone calls/​emails from me for more than a month, couldn’t provide me the estimate repair cost but instead wrongly informed me and my insurance company that the unit was illegal in the US and proposed to replace it with the cost of 7−8K. What also disgusted me was that they told my insurance company that the unit was improperly installed, therefore it fell off on the ground and broke the fan inside. None of what they said or did were true.
1-​The unit never fell off the wall. If it did, the whole thing would be broken into pieces, not just 1 fan.
2-​The fan never broke. It was the bypass thing that was partially blocked that made the water to partially leaked inside the house.
3-​The unit is sold in the US.
4-​Customer service was terrible. I made all the effort to follow up with them for more than 1 month long.
5-​The technician who came to my house went into the garage and ripped down the water pipe on the roof to examine. He left with the mess in my garage.
I would give zero star if I could.

I went w/​o heat for almost two years. I couldn’t afford the expense, so I didn’t hire anyone to repair it for over a year. When I did finally hire a well-​established company to fix my heater, they didn’t know how and kept complaining about the heater (which was only a few years old). The first guy was so rude, I asked for someone else. The second guy was nicer, but he didn’t have a clue how to fix it either, so for a couple months back and forth he experimented by replacing 4+ expensive parts. After the replaced everything he could think of, heater still didn’t work. Ended up costing me $ 1,200 for nothing except having to deal with a frustrated repairman who blamed the heater and not his own ignorance. I complained to management, but he blamed the heater too.
Well, this long story leads to my rating of Action AC&Heating. Someone recommended Action. The Action tech walked in my home, took one look at the heater & pointed out the problem. He fixed it within minutes, and the charge was minimal. I recommend Action to everyone now.

We had a great experience with this company. Our 10 yo house’s HVAC was a mess. In many rooms we had no AC or heat. After meeting Steve Gill and getting to know him, I had his team come over and check it out. They were on time and he spent almost the entire day fixing things up. Now the heating is much better. I should have done this long ago.

My SOLAR project is fully installed, tied to the grid and working completely. «JOB WELL DONE!» to Action AC, Heat & Solar company. It deserves 5 stars not only for the outstanding customer service provided to us but also from the detailed work they’ve done with our project. NO surprises and reasonable price compare to other contractors. KUDOs and Thank you to Mr. Benjamin Jones who heads the solar division for his professionalism and caring attitude. This company follows through to make every customer happy and satisfied. Workers really pay attention to details when it comes to execution of work. OUTSTANDING! Highly recommended for any solar project or AC/​heating work!

Our family built this home in 1965 and have lived without air conditioning until now, and at long last we decided to take the plunge, but… how to pay for the increased electric bill? With solar PV of course! We hoped to find a company that could handle both, and got bids from several. Action AC was not the lowest bidder, but we liked their ideas (zone control, heat pump with backup furnace, larger capacity solar PV) and decided to go with them.
We weren’t disappointed. Once we decided on Action AC, they got us on their schedule promptly, took care of all permits, connected us with related contractors (we wanted to begin the whole project by sealing and insulating the attic and we needed to finish it with some framing and drywall work to make a closet out of the old furnace room), and even communicated on our behalf with those contractors to coordinate work and ensure quality.
Greg Gill, the owner, knows his stuff and responds to requests effectively and fairly. Benjamin Jones, who manages the solar PV projects, is very communicative and personable and follows through promptly. For example, since we were going with solar panels we decided to get an electric car (Chevy Volt – we’re loving that, too), and Benjamin jumped on board, included the solar PV capacity needed for both our car charging and new AC needs, and even included a level II charger as part of our job.
Greg gave us what seems to be a thoughtfully designed HVAC system, and he suggested and followed through on some significant discounts that helped take the rough edges off the total cost of our projects.
Action AC’s crews were outstanding. We’ve seen crews who blew in and back out at warp speed before we had a chance to digest what they were doing, and others who seemed to take forever to get the job done. Action AC’s crews were a nice blend of efficiency and care. They sure didn’t waste any time, but they also didn’t seem to want to cut corners – they appear to pride themselves in their work. Refreshing.
Both the HVAC crew and the sub-​contracted solar PV crew were hard-​working and efficient, but communicative as well. So if we needed to make a decision or suggestion, they took time to discuss with us, consult with their managers or other technicians, as needed, and come up with a solution. We ended up having a lot of confidence in them and their work.
We’re very happy with our systems – both HVAC and solar PV. We’ll be signing up for Action AC’s HVAC maintenance contract, and we’ll be spreading the word on this very dedicated and responsible group of people, who seem to be as excited about a good HVAC or solar PV design as you or I would be about our own home improvement project.
