Anderson Window and Door Installation

Anderson window and door started out on the right foot providing a quotation. The quotation was neither competitive or complete. All costs bundled together with no detailed explanation of costs for product and installation. When asked to explain, they decided to decline pursuing the project as too complicated.

We need to replace a sliding glass door and called Anderson Windows to get some information and request a quote. They did not even want to talk to us unless you wanted at least four windows replaced. No suggestions as to who could help… Just we can’t help you. We chose to look into Anderson because of their reputation… Guess they only want the big jobs.

I can only assume that the negative reviewers on Unilocal for this company are talking about a different company, or do not have valid reasons for the negativity. I have had nothing but professional courteous treatment with everyone I have met at Andersen.
I called Anderson Windows since we need to replace our original (1938) windows in our home. They could not be any more professional or any more efficient. Karen at the front desk is amazing as a first contact for the company. She is personable and professional. Brian and Chris came out within a couple of days, measured, and told me that I would have a proposal the following week (understandable since it was a Friday at noon when they measured). However, I had the quote in my inbox at 4pm that afternoon!
Brian and Chris know windows! They gave me suggestions of what would work in ensuring our home looks appealing in keeping with Willow Glen charm. I also love that they use their own contractors for every job, so you know exactly who is coming into your home.
I visited the showroom just yesterday to look at the windows they had suggested, and to place our order. They look fabulous and were in line with what I would have chosen.
The team at Anderson are absolutely amazing (and just genuinely good people) and I am excited to see how our new windows will look and feel (since they will be double pane, unlike our current ones). I will be sure to post before/​after pictures when they arrive.

I built my beautiful new two-​story house about five years ago, and at present I have two high remote windows and three hand-​crank lower windows that are inoperable. Happily, they are stuck in the closed position, because winter is coming on.
To my surprise the company that sold and installed the windows for me refused to come out or to try to fix the problem, but instead gave me Andersen’s 888 number to call (which I did), and an Andersen’s representative told me to call a local repairman — and that I would need to pay for any repairs out of my own pocket. I did call the local repairmen, and when they came out to try to fix my remote windows they were unable to do so — even though they spent a couple of hours trying.

Came out spent over an hour telling me how good they were then sent me email saying they can’t do the job. Waste of time

After reading the reviews towards the bottom of this thread, something is not right here. They were obviously not dealing with this installer. After dealing with them twice, I feel that I know most of their staff: John the owner, Karen, the office coordinator, and the installation team of about five people.
In two separate installations about two years apart, I have always dealt with the same team. Presales consultation has been first rate with NO pressure to sign today!
We called Anderson Windows and Doors and an appointment for measurement, and consultation regarding the different manufacturers and their features and options. Our questions were clearly answered as were several follow-​up questions. The following day estimates of the prices and features were emailed for our analysis with no high pressure sales tactics.
We decided on the windows and options and called in to confirm an order for two windows, a patio door, and a front door. Anderson gave us a call when the order was complete and scheduled two days to install everything.
The installation crew arrived on-​time each day and completed the install quickly. The installers used tarps under their table saws, and below the windows and doors being removed and replaced, hauled away the old windows, and cleaned up each day including vacuuming on the inside of the house so that one would never know they were there.
We were so pleased with the quality of the doors and windows that we used Anderson a second time on a rental property. Once again, we received the estimate including options. We called in to place the order and were contacted when the doors and windows arrived and an installation date confirmed. The installation was completed on time, with no surprises. The installation crew was the same as the first job.
We cannot say enough positive about our experience at Anderson.

These guys install new Andersen Windows and Doors but they are a separate company from the Andersen Window company. (notice the name is spelled differently). I think there have been some bad reviews here that were not intended for this company so they have been dinged for people having a problem with the Andersen Window company or one of their other distributors. In fact, one of the reviews below must be for Renew by Andersen which is Andersen Windows replacement window company. They have the ridiculous sales approach described in the other review, but that is not these guys. Anyway, my experience with these guys has been awesome. I have an old house with lots of windows. My wife wanted a large number of them replaced but she wanted to replicate the look and feel of the old windows and the house. I had a number of replacement window companies out to quote the job. The reputable replacement window companies said it was going to be challenging and my wife wasn’t going to get the exact look and feel that she wanted. The less reputable ones said it was going to be a piece of cake. I couldn’t afford to take the chance so I went with the Anderson Window & Door Installation company. The reason being is that they only install new construction windows and doors not replacement windows. They do all the stucco, plaster and sill work that is necessary to install a new construction window. This is a completely different approach than with a replacement window. These guys have the new construction process down so well that they were able to do an amazing job and do it for around the same price as the replacement windows. They did a beautiful job and managed to keep the same look and feel as the old windows with the bullnose plaster. My wife was militant on the way she wanting things to look and they exceeded her expectation. After the job was done, one of the window’s hardware was lost. The owner, John, personally brought out a replacement a few days later. To me these guys are offering something different than all the other replacement window companies out there and I highly recommend them. I don’t write many reviews, but I had to write this one.

I couldn’t have chosen a better door and Window contractor than Anderson. Greatest experience ever! I ordered my new front entry doors from them and although it took a little while to come in due to the holidays which is completely normal, it was well worth the wait. The installers were very professional, maintained a very clean work environment while installing the doors, and the office always kept me informed about the status of the order. Everyone is very nice and polite. The installers work directly for Anderson so there are no sub contractors involved. All in all, if you are in the market for doors and/​or windows, Anderson Installation is the crew that you want. Their doors and windows are of very high quality. My entry doors are a little on the tricky side but Anderson had much prior experience with installing these kinds of entry doors. As a matter of fact, they were the only contractor willing to take on the project. I inquired online with a few other door and window contractors explaining my door situantion and no one ever responded except for a couple contractors that said they would not do it. But Anderson responded to my inquiry right away and came out that same week to do the estimate. Their timing is great. The estimate was done promplty and when the doors came in, they scheduled the install and they were right on time.

I called Anderson Windows to schedule an appointment. I would fire the completely obnoxious sales clerk who would not listen to me. The worst sales experience in many years. I will be using another company. No one should have to do business with Anderson Windows.

I bought an expensive door from them in 2010. After several months, the door started having problems with weathering. John came out and looked at the door. He blamed the problem on me and I was faced with additional costs to repair the door. This is not what I expected after buying such an expensive product. After spending additional money repairing the door, now the door doesn’t come close to looking like it should. There is a warranty on their products but have yet to receive a copy of it. I would say «Buyers BEWARE». Since John came out and looked at the weathered door, he has yet to follow up with a call.

We got three estimates for installing new sliding glass doors in our home. John’s bid was consistent with the other bids but what really impressed me was his knowledge. This guy knows windows and doors. Although everything didn’t go exactly as planned, John made sure everything turned out perfectly in the end. John was a pleasure to deal with and his workers did an excellent job right down to matching the existing stucco on the exterior walls. We are very pleased with the outcome and will use them again should the need arise.

We had a very good experience with Anderson Window and Door. John personally came out to give us a quote and discuss our options and was both knowledgeable and respectful. He gave us thorough information about how the installation works without talking down to us. John was very low pressure and took a lot of time to really talk about how the process works and how it differs from a simple retrofit, as well as discussing different window options with us. The quote we got for a bay window installation was also about 2K less than another (pushier) outfit we got a quote from.
The quality of the window and the workmanship on the installation overall was extremely good. Since bay windows do not sit flush against the outside wall, a good amount of exterior and stucco work had to be done in addition to the window installation, and it looked much better than we had anticipated. The texture matches the existing stucco and a lot of work went into making it weather-​tight as well as attractive.
Although when we initially asked if the original french doors could be salvaged and he didn’t think they could be, his crew was able to save the existing doors as well as the frame.
Another reviewer claims Anderson Window hires outside contractors, which does not seem to be the case. According to John, all of his construction employees have worked directly for him for 4+ years. These guys were definitely working as a team and knew what they were doing.
From consultation to installation to finish we have been incredibly happy with Anderson Window and already have plans to work with them again.

we recently had custom windows replaced in our home. Anderson was the company that was recommended and that we knew could accomplish the custom wood windows that we had in our house. we needed to replace 2 from water damage but did not want to replace every window in the house because they were all in perfect condition.
the initial consultation and appointment went well. the rep was professional, on time and helpful in recommending window alternatives as well as ideas for completely remodeling window area.
my complaints lie with the installation of the window itself. it seems that though the rep from anderson windows was great, they hire contracted workers to do the demolition and installation of the windows. this person tore out the window quite aggressively in our upstairs bathroom. he made a mess, ruined the old window (that could have been recycled), ripped out molding around the window, and generally did a very poor job installing the window.
because of this i decided to install the second window myself to avoid further damage to the inside or outside of the house. i think i would give them 3 stars, but because they ended up causing more money to be spent on replacing some of the damage they caused, i have to say 2 stars.
