Was commenting to my Carpool Partner that you never see CHP on Motorcycles after dark. 20 mins later I get pulled over at night by… a Motorcycle CHP! I didn’t even see him and it was a newer bike– more of the BMW style so also did not think he was a LEO until the red/​blue lights came on. He was nice enough to drop my clocked «speed» down so I could attend traffic school. I have a long commute so I was long overdue for a ticket (10 years). Didn’t see a notice in the mail for over a month. finally it came, I opted/​paid for traffic school option. then another notice came with a url to a website of «authorized» online traffic schools. Unilocal had nice reviews for DDG and they were on the massive DMV list so I opted for them. Well designed and easy to use site and content. I like to think I am up on the latest laws (3 ft Bike buffer, Wipers on-​lights on, change lanes away from Emergency Vehicles on shoulder, etc.) but I swear I did not know you can be fined $ 100 for smoking in a car with a minor? Not that it would impact me but I was still shocked I had not heard anything about this and I think it has been a law since 2007? Anyhow– I would recommend this company, spent a few hours on a Sat Morning and knocked this out. If you fail the test it is totally on you as it is open book and most of the questions are common sense with a few that ask the A)100ft B)200ft C)300ft… type that you might have to review previous content to get.

Great course. Well written and easy to understand. The final test was well thought out but if you read the material, was fairly easy. Aside from not getting points on my record, the course was a great refresher for brushing up on your driving knowledge. Customer service was excellent. Phone got picked up quickly and was able to talk to Scott — who was extremely helpful. Highly recommend this company.

Defensive Drivers Group’s online course is well written and easy to follow. The quizzes and final are all multiple-​choice and there are no «trick questions.» By law, there is an «attention question» on each quiz, related to an irrelevant non-​traffic sentence that is inserted randomly into each lesson to ensure the student’s attention. The final is open-​book, and you can «open-​book» the quizzes as well by copying each chapter into an external document (e.g., in Word) before taking the quiz. (This is especially important if you’re not good at memorizing random information like «Sally G has 22 pennies in her purse.»)
I finished the whole experience in 4 hours, including lunch break and multiple «relaxation breaks,» and scored 100%. (70% is required to pass.)
My only quibble is that the completion certificate does not include the name of the court or my docket number. I fear this shortcoming may make life difficult if the court or DMV loses the confirmation that the school has sent them, since I do not have documentation from the school that indicates that information. (I recommend in hindsight that users print or PDF their «account information» before completing the final exam, so they have a record of the information under which they registered.)
I have emailed the school about this concern, and hope to get a response from them soon.
EDIT 12/​20/​2015: Less than two hours after emailing the school, I got a prompt and courteous response from Scott of Defensive Drivers Group, which addressed and satisfied all of my concerns. I am a totally satisfied customer and recommend Defensive Drivers Group without reservation!

I did the online format. I signed up on a Tuesday and was done by Wednesday. Super fast. Super straightforward. Relatively cheap. I have done a «comedy» class in person…omg. .. never ending. .. and it was literally a drill sergeant who thought he had a good sense of humor. lmao (NOT)
11 lessons — maybe 20+ min each with 3 question quiz at end of each. You can take each lesson quiz as many times as you need. TRICK! There is one random info (jane likes rainbows) bit of info in each lesson which is on the quiz to make sure you are reading.
Once you complete all quizzes you can take the final exam.
Final exam: you have one hour for maybe 20 questions (maybe less) and you are allowed do it open book by opening another window while you are taking the test.
It took me less than 5 hours but you can probably do it even quicker if you really give priority to speed vs content.
But since you’re there might as well read all those grizzly stats about texting and driving and protocol for turning through a bike lane etc.. . stuff you forget and is good to remember.

This was a good and intuitive online driving school. Much better than the last one I took. I would recommend it to others. the cost of $ 25 is reasonable and I was able to finish it in a reasonable amount of time (although this depends on your reading and test taking skills).

I was about to start a gimmicky on-​line traffic school, albeit with loads of 5-​star reviews, and decided to take another look because the one I was about to settle on (among many others) had reviews chock full of complaints about gimmicks and tricks to get you to pay more with useless extra fees for services which Defensive Drivers Group includes automatically. I just wanted to get through the exam without having to continually watch out for getting ripped off. I really didn’t care which was the cheapest, just which one seemed the most responsible. Gimmicks and surprise fees do not give an air of trust. I wanted to get a fair test, pass it and feel sure that my paperwork would get properly sent in.
So I found Defensive Drivers Group and the reviews were way more simple, solid and free of suggestions on what to avoid. And the only «gimmick»? As I was filling out the signup form, I got a popup, apparently encouraging me to hurry up, which chopped the price from $ 25 down to $ 15. So, even though I was almost done with the present signup form, I clicked the new link, filled out the form and paid $ 15. I’ve only paid $ 15 and never paid nor was asked to pay a penny more.
My experience was precisely that, free of gimmicks and surprises. I know some people have whizzed through course texts. But, not only did I feel a responsibility to be honest (yeah, yeah) and read through it all, I also had lots of distractions. The TV was on. The kids were around. I had a beer. However, I do read pretty quickly when I put my mind to it, and some of it is actually interesting. I got through all the material in about a total of 3 hours spread over two evenings. The section quizzes are 2 or 3 questions with one nonsense phrase question to see if you actually read the material. The final exam is 25 questions, IIRC, and it’s content is easier than the quizzes. That is, its less about remembering an exact phrase, law or statistic to the letter and making sure you’re not actually a complete moron with a driver’s license.
I’d definitely recommend Defensive Drivers Group and hopefully I won’t get another ticket. But if I do, I’ll be back.

Just completed this course. Over my lifetime, I’ve probably taken defensive driving more than 10 times. Several of those were online. A couple of those were of the Comedy variety. In my opinion, there really is no way to make this pleasurable. It’s kind of an 8 hour prison sentence to punish you. The comedy classes are still dry and still take 8 hours. So, for me, I’m looking for a course that works from a technical standpoint, (easy to operate on multiple platforms, etc.), and that can prepare me to pass a relatively easy final exam. This course accomplishes just that. The material is mostly dry, but that’s the way it is. But it’s presented in a pretty good way and it’s incredibly easy to navigate the their website. I passed the test (missing only one answer) and they did the rest of the work. Pretty affordable, too, (wish I could say the same about the ticket). So, this worked for me. Professional, modern website, up-​to-​date material.

Great place to take your traffic class. Well done user interface, concise information presented well. Took me about 5 hours start to finish! A tip — use the search within the page feature on your browser to find the «odd» questions they are required to ask to make sure you are really reading the information.

OK. So I take the traffic school course offered by Defensive Driver Group and that went well. But I didn’t complete it on time and that is my error. I had 2 violations within a month and a half of each other. One was for toll violation and the other was a moving violation. I took this course for the toll violation which comes to find out that it wouldn’t help because there isn’t a point added for this type of violation, so I’ve been calling Scott P. to see about transferring the course to the moving violation instead and I have gotten nothing but a run around. He sent me an email informing me that I didn’t complete it in time but will NOT return my phone calls. So I basically paid for the school when I can’t use it! Such a WASTE

Man, these guys definitely deserve the 5 stars. Suuuper easy, convenient online traffic school experience!
5 – 0 caught me ridin’ dirty aka a little over the speed limit so obvi I had to go to traffic school. I didn’t have to look far bc fortunately DDG had a great price ($ 14.95 with a code) for their online traffic school. Literally took me one night to complete everything! And they send all your paperwork and completion to the DMV and court. Super convenient!

Logged on for the NJ defensive driving test at the recommendation of my insurance company .my spouse and I both took the test while we were on a long drive (5 hours each way) and I’d recommend taking it this way!
We passed, lost 2 points off our driving record and saved about $ 360 annually on our insurance.

DDG’s good! Course content is good. They make sure you read all the content. Website is easy enough to navigate. Unilocal offers some discount — so make sure you find their coupon on Unilocal and save some $$. After the Unilocal coupon, the price is also very good. You take a short test at the end of each section, and then one final at the end of all the sections. You get two attempts to clear the final. You have 60 minutes to answer the questions.
Overall, I had a fine and positive experience with DDG. Don’t believe I have any complaints.

Thank you Unilocalers for recommending Defensive Drivers Groups. Their website was super easy to use. I was able to log back in over a course of a few days to review each of the chapters before I was ready to take the final exam.
The paperwork is automated so once you take the test, you do not have to do anything. I also received a personal email confirmation from them stating that the DMV had received the paperwork.
I would highly recommend this online course!

This is an excellent on-​line program. It was super easy to submit the paperwork. The DDG people promptly emailed me the confirmation that I had completed the course and then they sent the info straight to the DMV. The next day they sent another email stating that the DMV had received everything and I was DONE!
It was fast, easy and inexpensive. I hope never to be in the position to have to do traffic school again but I will definitely be recommending this place to those who need the service.

the quiz was more geared towards common sense, except a tiny detail question which begs you to go back to the lesson
the final was fair; I failed at 69% on the fitst pass but was more careful and passed on the 2^nd test at 83%
I was concerned of not passing and wasted 25.00 but it wasn’t to be
You still have to know your driving laws, it’s not a given

This course was very informative! I thought I was a well seasoned driver and knew it all! After taking this course, I actually learned a fair bit.
The online course was fun, informative and very thorough! But best of all, it was inexpensive! I highly recommend doing your online traffic school through DDG.
Upon my completion of the final exam, I was email by an actual person, informing that my results were sent both to the DMV and the court. Isn’t that great! In the age where everything is so impersonal, I was glad to see they actually took a minute to have someone email me.

They make taking traffic school as painless as possible. The information is very straight forward and ‘graduating’ is easy to accomplish: read the material and take the tests. I was able to finish it within a couple of hours. As other reviewers have mentioned, they send your completed paperwork to the DMV for you, which is a nice bonus.
Hopefully I’ll never have to take traffic school again, but if I do I would certainly use this business again.

I chose them first because their office was accessible to me if I ever encountered any problem and second because of all the good reviews I read about it.
Now that I have finished and passed the course, I am doubly glad I chose this Driving School because it was easy to register and login to their site. The classes were informative, written very well and quite interesting. I encountered no problem at all and did not even need to contact their customer support throughout the course of the classes.
I would highly recommend this driving school to anyone who needs it.

Defensive Drivers Group was the most affordable and most straightforward online driving school. Really well organized information made it really easy to cruise through the courses, take the quizzes and pass the final test at the end.
It’ll take a little time getting through at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it you’ll start burning through it and you’ll make that irritating point on your record vanish very quickly.
