Established in 2011.

Teaching privately in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area since 2011, I have ten years plus teaching music in a wide variety of contexts. I have been teaching music to youngsters for 3 years at a daycare in San Francisco and at the Alameda String Academy.

Business Owner

Clio Tilton offers instruction in violin and viola to students of all ages in the San Francisco Bay Area. Using a curriculum including baroque music, folk songs, and fiddle tunes for beginners to a more advanced classical repertoire for intermediate and advanced students, I aim to give each student a solid foundation on their instrument. This prepares my students to be able to read music and to play by ear and take the violin in whatever direction they choose later on. Using a combination of scales, exercises, rhythm games, and repertoire, I teach my students how to be comfortable and facile on their instruments and to be over all well rounded musicians. Each student is unique and I vary my teaching approach based on each individual student’s learning style. Please contact me to discuss your interests. I am also fluent in French and Japanese and can teach in those languages as well.
