Sublime Salon

The salon is in a townhouse so it has that kind of neighborhood feel to it. I have very long hair (past my bra line) and I emphasized to my stylist that I want to maintain the length and just add layers to lighten up the bulk a bit. Since my hair was so long I only get my hair cut maybe every 4 months and I just get basic cleanup
At the end of the cut, she had taken off about 4″ and now my hair is a little below my shoulders with about 2″ of blunt chunky layers (kind of 90s style). I have side bangs and she parted it on the wrong side after asking me twice which side I part it. So, having my hair hacked off was pretty disappointing and I’ve never had this kind of experience with a stylist that just neglected everything I had requested. Maybe other stylists at this salon are better– but I regret going and wouldn’t go back.
(I didn’t say anything at the time to the manager– because what can you do? I’ll just have to buy extensions.)

Having an amazing hair stylist in LA, I was very sad when I first moved to SF as I’d have to start the stylist search all over again. Most ladies probably know that it takes at least 2 – 3 hair stylists to find that one who knows exactly how to treat your hair and give you the style that compliments not only your face/​body but also your style.
Luckily for me, my roommate introduced me to Wendy. Wendy is a miracle worker and thanks to her beautiful work, I never had to embark on that awful journey of finding the stylist that suits me. Wendy not only takes her time in terms of cutting and styling my hair, but she is also very patient, personable, and remembers exactly what I want!
I highly recommend Wendy to anyone who is seeking an amazing stylist!

Never been happier with my hair!
I found a crazy picture on the internet of purple/​blue tint and fell in love. I knew I needed that hair. So I went to Unilocal and searched for hair salons in Pac Heights and Sublime was the first on the list. They were able to fit me in the next day with Danielle. She did an amazing job! I showed her the picture and she absolutely nailed it! It turned out better than I could have imagined. Will definitely be going back to get my hair touched up whenever it inevitably fades.

Katie Lang is a miracle worker. I re-​layered my hair and totally changed my look with a different color.
My hair is very dark. I have thick black ASIAN hair that is of medium length and Katie turned me into a complete babe. I told her that I wanted to spice things up and wanted a complete change. We discussed lightening up my base and adding some balayage. I already had some highlights in my hair that were fading out so I desperately needed the update. The ending result was gorgeous. My hair is now a nice shade of brown (that looks great with my skin tone, Asian girls head here now. I have some golden color in my skin tone so I’m always cautious to go lighter but this looks fantastic) I got so many compliments from everyone at school. I also have always had trouble with my bangs. Ever since I was teen I had the same type of bangs soKatie encouraged me to try a new style. We decided to do bangs and Katie took the time to explain how to style them as well.
This whole process took about three hours. Katie was very diligent and detail oriented altogether.

Katie is amaaaaaazing!!! She’s so easy and fun to talk to, and I love that she gives candid opinions of my (then) hair while making me feel gorgeous, but just with the wrong color hair. :) My new warm chocolate is so pretty and she’s right, my eyes totally pop with this color. Prices are very reasonable, too.

I came for a haircut with Katie and it was probably the best haircut I got in my life. She got me 100% and she took good care of my wavy dry split ends. While shampooing she gave me a little neck and head massage (which was very nice and better than most professional masseuses I went to). I didn’t want to cut my hair too short so she cut them dry because it’s better to cut dry hair when one is trying to grow it and after that she shampooed it and blow dried. She also gave me good advices on how to make them less fizzy and recommended some products for that. I really liked my haircut and can’t say enough words to praise Katie. Will definitely come back

Ashley and KATIE for color — Katie is a dream and Ashley is excellent and represents the salon really well! she completely turned a bad situation that I had with a consultation appointment with one of their stylists — into an excellent experience.
I was recommended by a friend to go see Jen at sublime for color and made a consultation appointment with her and was excited to show up for the appointment. that day Jen was running 30 minutes behind and she was demeaning about giving time to a consultation as if it was not normal. she was very rude and offensive. she was beyond horrible!
But Ashley is a true professional and turned it around… Ashley sat me in a chair and then she introduced me to Katie.
Katie is so good and gave me a great consultation and was very honest about the color I was going for and what would work best. today I showed up for my appointment and Katie completely made it happen and I loved my experience with her coloring my hair… she walked me through the stages and was super patient and is really good at what she does.
I booked another appointment with her for next week and if it was not for the consultation Katie gave me — I would have never had the confidence or the great experience or gone back to sublime salon. Katie made it fun!!! thank you Katie !!

I am super happy with the cut I got from Claire! I told her that I wanted to change things up a bit, but also that I am super lazy about styling and hate blowdrying/​using product, so obviously that limits what works for me. My hair is also extreme fine and never holds any shape. Anyhow, she gave me a lob, and its one of my favorite haircuts ever!!! It still has a nice shape, even when I don’t blowdry it at all (of course looks the best when I do though). My haircut cost $ 80 (pre-​tip), which is fair for the quality/​location.

Claire is simply amazing!!! She gave me the most amazing LOB! She made the entire process so painless! I finally found my stylist in The City! The staff at Sublime is also amazing and always so friendly!

I have been going to Katie now since she moved from Hawaii so about 5 years now. I followed her from Renaissance Salon. I have long hair and a ton of it and I typically only get my hair done 2 – 3 times MAX a year. unfortunately because I am always working with a terrible schedule. Katie always gives my hair an incredible cut as well as color that lasts. I get the beach look without having to go to the beach. She also recommends the right products (without being pushy) that help maintain my hair throughout the long lulls between hair appointments. She is also extremely down to earth and kind with interesting, beyond the surface things to talk about.

Was there a few weeks ago for a color with Katie Lang. She fixed a bad ombré for me and I was VERY happy with the results! And she seemed really knowledgeable about the science of color and hair. I definitely learned some things that no stylist had ever mentioned before. I forget what I paid, but it definitely wasn’t as ridiculous like the rest of the salons in the neighborhood. I would definitely go back for another color with her. And she’s super sweet!

Jenn Acierto is an amazing hair stylist! I hired her for my wedding in June and cannot be more pleased with how every girl’s hair turned out. Jenn arrived at our hotel promptly at 7AM on the wedding day, and quickly turned around the most beautiful up do’s! She is patient, professional and super warm and personable! She is creative and has an eye for what will work and what will not work. All the girls loved chatting with her, and could not stop raving about how much they loved their hair that day. She was ahead of schedule and was even able to fit in a bridesmaid that originally was not going to get her hair done! Jenn is great at what she does and has many years of experience. If you’re looking for someone to do hair for an event, I would highly recommend Jenn!

This salon is amazing. I’m a low-​maintenance girl who struggles to get her hair cut more than a couple of times a year. Jill, the owner, Pam, my colorist, and Claire, my stylist, are AMAZING. They have never made me feel inadequate for my lazy hair habits and instead have worked with me, giving me cuts and highlights that grow out reasonably well. They listen to me and remember my lifestyle so they don’t propose something or let me ask for something that won’t work well for me. Like bangs. They know I’d never come back for a trim so they have very nicely recommended that bangs won’t work for me. Now the kicker, and why they get 5 stars (6 if it were an option): last winter was a very low time for me. They listened and gave their hearts to my hair. I know that sounds nuts, buts it’s true. Claire gave me the absolutely most amazing perfect haircut I’ve ever had. Pam gave me lowlights that matched my mood and looked amazing for months. I couldn’t have imagined a better look. They helped me move onto better days!
Sublime is not cheap but worth every penny!

I’ve never been one for having a regular hairstylist — until I met Collin. A craftsman, Collin cares about his work and his patrons. He is a pleasure to be around, a talent, and a happy new requirement.

Since I’ve moved to SF, I’ve been looking for a great hair stylist. Shovonne is AWESOME. She is hilarious, friendly, honest, can talk to you about what you want and execute SO well. If you happen upon an opening, grab it. She’s the best.

After much trial and error — I finally have a hair stylist that I love! Shvonne is hilarious, easy to talk to and honest, not to mention a baller at cutting and styling hair. No awkward silences or the feeling that your cut is being rushed. Simply the best! She also brought homemade treats for all of her clients during the holidays. an awesome and generous gesture.
Sublime is a great salon as well. Super convenient for me (down the street), they offer water/​coffee/​tea upon arrival, it’s always clean and they stock great products!

Claire Pelzner is one of those hair stylists with such precise skill I feel compelled to share. The ability to cut a perfect bob or really straight bangs takes skill, precision and a steady hand. Claire has all that in abundance plus she is a really sweet and kind person.
Claire has been cutting my kids (15 and 18), my husband, my mother and aunt for over 2 years and she just gets better and better.
Claire only cuts no color. The salon’s ambiance is not my favorite, but the staff are all nice and the cut is worth the trade-​off.
If you are looking for someone who can cut with this kind of precision Claire is the stylist for you.

First time at the salon and gotta say that Jen did a great job. I just got my bangs trimmed, and I’m usually always afraid of how they’ll turn out, but they turned out great. Very simple, side-​swept, and no complications at all. She even gave me advice about changing my part once in a while, and cut them in a such a way that I could switch sides. Staff was very nice. Clean environment. Overall a good place to go. I will definitely be coming here everytime my bangs need trimming.

I’ve been going to Sublime for my past 3 – 4 haircuts and have absolutely loved it! They work with my schedule and always make a later time work because I can’t get there till past 5:30pm. Jen is my stylist and I love her! She is so sweet and does an awesome job cutting your hair/​telling you what would look best. I trust her completely!

Shvonne is a kick ass, hairstylist extraordinaire. She has been my hair guru for the last year and half. My curly hair loves her cuts and she is a pro at hair color. (I’m now a blonde and loving it!) She is always straight forward… I never leave surprised by the cost.
I highly recommend!
