Saarman Construction

Saarman Construction provides Chandler Properties with amazing service. When we need work done at our condominium buildings, Saarmon Construction is the first contact we reach out to and we have never been disappointed with their efficiency or quality of work. I definitely recommended Saarmon Construction for their high level of quality service.

Our firm has been the waterproofing consultant, typically working with the architect or the owner where Saarman Construction was the contractor on many projects since 1997. I have personally provided waterproofing assistance on several residential and commercial projects to Saarman since 2004. My experience with Saarman principals as well as the workmen has always been first rate, whether a small project replacing a few windows or the complete renovation of mid-​rises. Saarman is big enough to get the job done efficiently and small enough to know that good customer service is where all big jobs come from. Absolutely, I can attest their goal is client satisfaction every single day.

Went to visit a condo where they did most of the work. What a disaster. They messed up the stucco, trim work, everything. Just did the worst possible job. I have heard of their mess ups before, but to actually see the poor workmanship was amazing.

Rude, dismissive, unresponsive, and somewhat incompetent. These are the descriptors that leap to mind based on my experience with Saarman as the firm that headed up the repairs on our construction defect settlement. Jim Sappington is absolutely horrible with his snide, condescending manner. Even our cats obviously disliked him, and you know how animals have a sixth sense about that sort of thing. Jim didn’t seem to be especially bright, either, and he made stupid mistakes like twice ordering us the wrong windows. What takes the cake is that he then argued with us and wouldn’t own up to his oversights and errors. To this day, we still have one completely wrong window in our dining room that they installed despite our protests that it was WRONG AND NOT AT ALL WHAT WE WANTED.
The actual workers on site were ok. I don’t know which of them might’ve been subcontractors, but they all tended to be very nice and respectful. The barometers of good peeps-​ness (i.e., the cats) were completely fine with them and actually enjoyed keeping tabs on the construction activity, even with all the loud noises.
But Jim Sappington: what a royal pr*ck, and he didn’t even get our repairs done correctly. And two other office types (I see from Saarman’s website that one is actually a partner, as is Jim) who were on our project weren’t much better, either. Trying to get anyone to address a problem or even just answer a question is worse than pulling teeth. They will flat out ignore your calls and emails most of the time. Awful, awful, awful.
We’ll probably be seeing you guys in court, Saarman. It’s been real!
⁸⁄₁₇ — UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO SAARMAN’S COMMENT:
The oversights and errors were ABSOLUTELY the fault of Saarman Construction. When he placed the order for our windows, Jim Sappington failed to specify their swings, resulting in one of them being wrong. The windows are side-​by-​side casements, and we wanted them to open out from the middle. What we got instead are two that swing the same way. In addition to looking completely stupid, the one that swings the wrong way opens so that it’s in the way, rather than opening out against the wall right next to it.
Jim Sappington was sloppy in his order and left off crucial information. Especially considering that Saarman/​Jim Sappington told us that we (the owners) could not place our own order directly with the supplier (the supplier didn’t have a problem with that) and insisted that it had to go through Saarman, our receiving the incorrect swing on the window was most definitely Saarman’s fault. I spent a lot of time researching the windows and did a *ton* of legwork, so don’t tell me I didn’t know exactly what I wanted. Saarman as the insistingly self-​imposed middleman completely FAILED.
Note to those thinking of hiring Saarman for their construction project:
The window issue is only but one example of what it was like working with Saarman. It’s been a terrible experience. Seriously, stay away from them, and find an outfit or individual who takes true pride in their work and level of service.
