Our Business is fully insured and bonded through Pet Sitters Associates LLC. We are certified by Pet Tech for Doggie First Aide and CPR. We do not have employees, we are literally a «Mom & Pop» run business. We are married and also parents of a very active yet super awesome toddler. So I think we can officially call ourselves a Mom & Pop operation at this juncture :)

Leo walks the BIG dogs and Celene walks the little dogs. We did not plan that, it just kind of worked out that way and we love it. We believe that the little dogs are safer in packs with other little dogs and we are all about safety when it comes to animals. We love the dogs we walk and the relationships we form with their parents over the years.

We walk dogs Mon-​Friday and pick up and drop off from your home. We board dogs in our home in Glen Park that has a giant yard, but we only board dogs we walk as we want to ensure that the dog knows us and we know them before spending the weekend together.

We walk dogs at Fort Funston, McLaren and at land in Montara that we have for our dogs only! This land is safe and fox tail free and on 3 plus acres of pure lush Montara beauty. How cool is that?

History

Established in 2007.

It all began with a girl and her dog. isn’t that how all great romances begin? No but really, this business is all about the dogs in our life and how they inspired us to leave our office jobs for a job in the outdoors with animals almost a decade ago.

«Get A Leg Up» Dog Walking was born and raised in SF. Not many can say they are born and raised here, but our little Business can! Celene started the Business in 2007 and then Leo joined on in 2010. We have been going strong since then. We now have some land in Montara that we can go to, It is beautiful and safe, the dogs are so happy there with their pack and nature. Without the mayhem that dog parks can often be. This place gives them the time to be urban dogs running wild and free in nature and they eat it up!

After many years of fostering and rescuing and dog walking, we realize our life is full of dogs and there is no other way we would want it!

As a young girl growing up in Santa Cruz I always dreamed of opening a Dog Resue when I grew up. My poor mother, I thought my childhood home was a dog rescue! Even now, I would love to have many animals but living in SF makes that a little tricky. Luckily having a dog business really helps fill that void, I feel like I have a dozen dogs of my own since I love the dogs I walk like they are my own. I have fostered dogs through Grateful Dog Rescue and Wonder Dog Rescue, our current dog Tommy was our «Foster Failure», meaning that we kept him :) He has been with us since we started the business in 2008 and we may just have our eye on another new pup pretty soon in the future!
