Martin is exceptional, sincere, detail oriented, and thoughtful. Martin’s rates are extremely reasonable, even if you arrange for him to work after hours.
Martin’s name was given to me by someone from a larger more well-​known company (where Martin had worked and had left to start out on his own). From the start, this impressed me, because people don’t often refer competitors, but even the rep had said, «You’ll like Martin. He’s great, although he’s probably busy.»
Martin was indeed busy, but he found a way to fit me in, as long as I was flexible.
This, by far, beat the two and three week appointments I was offered by all the other companies I called.

Martin gets my business, this guy is great. SDG&E performs free furnace inspections so we had them come out. I wasn’t expecting any problems since we’d replaced the furnace when we closed on our house in July 2012. Surprise surprise, turns out the large heating & air company who originally installed our furnace didn’t fully connect the furnace vents to our ducts and cracked a duct during the installation, so heat was spilling into the attic and into the furnace closet rather than where it was supposed to go. Maybe they should’ve spent more on training their service techs and less on their catchy TV commercials. Anyway, the SDG&E inspector red-​flagged and deactivated our furnace due to the whole «leaking gas from cracked vents» thing. Zephyr Heating and Air came highly recommended by a family friend who works as a real estate agent, we called Martin the same day as the inspection and he was here the following morning.
Martin knows his stuff, his prices beat his competition, and he’s a very friendly guy. Definitely easy to be around. I know one other reviewer also mentioned that he doesn’t mind staying late to finish a job instead of returning the next day, that was my experience as well. I don’t know if he has any other employees or if this is a one-​man outfit, but Martin was very thorough and I’d recommend his services to anybody.

We had Martin install central air in our 1940s Rolando home in the spring of 2012. His price was extremely competitive, and he provided excellent service. He took time to answer all of my many questions about sones and noise levels and energy efficiency and I don’t even remember what else. I did a ton of research on my own, participated in a few forums, and emailed a couple of manufacturer reps, and everything Martin recommended was backed up by experts around the country. Not that I didn’t trust his word — I just wanted to be sure we understood what we were buying, since this was a significant financial investment for us.
Martin showed up on time, had everything he needed to do the job, and was very courteous and respectful toward our home. As the day went on, we wondered if he might be running into problems but every time he popped out of our (unfinished) basement, he smiled and assured us everything was proceeding nicely.
At one point he acknowledged that the workday was over, but if we didn’t mind, he wanted to continue working into the evening and get the job done rather than come back the next day. With a headlamp on his forehead and covered in dirt from under our house, he stayed focused and positive and finished the installation at about 8 o’clock that night. He certainly didn’t charge us overtime, of course, because this was a bid job.
We have enjoyed air conditioned bliss ever since. He got us the right unit and he installed it perfectly and we haven’t had one single problem.
I would hire him again in a heartbeat. But hopefully I will be here in this house enjoying the A/​C for a few more years.

Martin did a fantastic job of installing a new mini-​split in my home in Normal Heights. I can’t say enough about his strong work ethic. He’s also well spoken and polite on top of being great at what he does. I strongly recommend him and will certainly have him do more HVAC projects for me in my rental unit. Thanks so much Martin!

Zephyr worked within my budget with amazing results. Their thoroughness is something rare you find in a contractor. I had a few different companies try to resolve the issues I was having with the heating & air of a large basement I own. They offered a unique alternative to the other approaches and it worked like a charm. I highly recommend them! A++++

I was looking to get my air condition fixed once again, and this time I decided to go with a friends suggestion. I’m really glad I did. This is my second review ever on here, so I’m not exactly sure what I should write, however what I can say is that the service was good and the price was good. Now the only thing I’m hoping for is that it doesn’t break again.
