History

Established in 2004.

Based in San Diego, California, Winstead and Son’s Custom Builders, Inc. specialize in elegantly crafted, custom luxury homes. The owner of this family business, Tim Winstead has over 25 years of experience building custom homes throughout Southern California. After he surpassed that 10,000 hour experience marker, Tim knew it was time to go into business for himself. He, and his family, opened Winstead and Son’s Custom Builders in 2004, during a great time for business. The crash of 2008 hit hard, but Tim’s craftsmanship, integrity, and work ethic kept the young business alive during these rough times in our economy. Today, Tim Winstead leads Winstead & Son’s Custom Builders, Inc. toward the revival of our community by contributing to the value of our neighborhoods.

Business Owner

Tim Winstead has been building homes for 27 years, more than half of his life. A son of a contractor, he started working for his father as an apprentice carpenter at the age of 17. Tim’s father taught the basic foundations of carpentry, and at the age of 19, Tim left home and ventured off to San Diego, California, with aspirations of working on custom homes over looking the ocean.

Working with two of the finest builders in San Diego, Tim honed his skills as a builder for the next 15 years. Tim will always considers himself as a craftsman. His passion and dedication to his craft ultimately became the reason for his success.

In 2004 he started the family business by establishing Winstead & Son’s Custom Builders. His vast knowledge in every stage of construction, as well as his hands on approach to building, has resulted in some of the best craftsmanship on our coast. He continues to run his business with respect, integrity, and (you guessed it) craftsmanship.
