Established in 2009.

We are fresh to the downtown community as an establishment. But the managers and employees have been in the industry all their lives. So when it comes to customer service and making sure the customer has a great time, it’s very simple for us here @ Taste & Thirst. So come by and lets make some history for this place. Our happy hour will go down in the history books as the best happy hour to every hit downtown San Diego! ½ off ALL drinks 3 – 8 pm everyday.

My friend and I came here with our dogs after the Thai place we had intended to go to was not seating outside. Yay for that because we got some delicious burgers here! The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because they were out of fries and tapped out of the beer I wanted. I was really craving some fries… oh well. Tater tots were pretty good tho! Definitely check this place out! If you are bringing dogs call ahead because they only have two tables outside.

Maybe it’s just this area of Diego. But I am convinced there is no bad place to eat, drink or vape in this area. The vape guy and customers were a huge help in picking my juice (I left mine in Washington). The bartender is the sweetest! Can’t wait to watch her battle the guys in the video game on the big screen. Everyone is so personable. Which totally compliments my talkative self. Love it!

Happy hour all night (½ off drinks was great!) Bartender very nice. Bacon cheddar tots good.
The crowd varied from typical local folk dressed nice/​casual. To some different characters. A little squished at the bar as I had to keep moving away from getting bumped.

Was walking by this evening… Somehow dropped my wallet, not even drunk and I get a phone call 5 minutes later from one of the security guards there, Johnny and he had picked it up! I walked right back and picked it up. There are still good people in the world!

This place is the chillest hangout spot origanlly took my girl there for a pub crawl that ended up getting cancelled but my boy Johnny at taste and thirst hooked it up so we could still have a goodnight and enjoy ourselves! Will definitely be coming back here when we visit again! Thanks guys good lookin out!

This place has an amazing happy hour! Half off drinks and tons of cheap apps. The drinks are good and the food is fine. Pretty average atmosphere and slow service but you can’t beat the quality for the cost. I’d go here again.

Ryley is amazing! Such a fantastic bartender/​waitress. Since we arrived she has been on top of it! The food and drinks were amazing, super delicious. Highly recommend the chili cheese tots, yum! Make sure you say hi to Ryley when you come! Highly recommend!

Been coming to Taste for years now. Can’t go wrong with half off all drinks on Thursdays until midnight! Family owned and operated makes this a local pub stop you can still catch familiar faces at even with the vast growing downtown atmosphere. Make sure to try the sliders with the secret Taste sauce! The menu has somewhat of an upscale feel to it even with the pub style selection. Much love to the Dalmay family for forever keeping it real.

I LOVE THEIR FOOD. I work near taste and thirst and go to them often for lunch. Their specials and food are excellent. I LOVE their fries cooked perfect. My favorite is the Turkey bacon sandwich wrap. Excellent portions and quick service… I highly recommend eating there. Their friendly staff wont disappoint.

Their happy hour here is a GREAT DEAL! We ordered the chips and salsa [as that’s a cornerstone rating item] the salsa is good and tasty, not overly spicy but has a little kick. They use black pepper in it and it gives a different but good flavor. We then ordered tater-​tots with chili and cheese, this is a pretty big plate of tots. I was impressed with the quantity and value of these from the happy house menu. The chili is canned and that was to be expected. We also ordered chicken strips with buffalo sauce and these also were surprising as they are huge chicken planks. The wife and I both couldn’t finish these items. Honestly the prices being half during happy hour made this completely affordable at about $ 20 for both of us [yes it included 2 beers], and the quantity is impressive you definitely get your moneys worth! I will be back.
They did have football going on all the TVs which was fine, it was a little loud due to the game being on but the people were not a terrible source of noise and that was really nice.

Came to this establishment arriving from OC bc of Unilocal and it did not disappoint. Brought the 2 young guns with us which could have been a problem at most bars but Johnny took care of that.(in and out b4 8pm, but really no rush). Melissa our server was excellent. She shared the great half price appetizer specials and entrees. Lots of beer on tap and the Jets/​Dallas game with UFC ON. What more can you ask for. We’ll be back!

I’m a downtown local and must say this is a bar you don’t get tired going to. The people that work here are so down to earth and friendly. It’s a family owned and operated operation.
Some great things about this place
HAPPY HOUR EVERYDAY 3−8PM half off all drinks beer and wine
They carry Craft brews they only have ten taps but they rotate 5 constantly… also have a decent sized bottle selection
Great place for viewing parties such as UFC and boxing
Their food is typical bar food but it’s never bad.
Some of the best items are the chicken strips Tnt style and the truffle tater tots.
Also if your in the mood for a burger you must try the TNT burger so delicious
They also serve food late night
So check this place out they are a great group people to know in san diego!

Taste & Thirst is the best place for happy hour! And of course regular hours!
They’re located central from everything. So, if you’re looking for a place to pre drink before going out, dancing etc, I highly recommend Taste & Thirst! Drinks are inexpensive during regular hours but even better during happy hour! Unlike other places in downtown San Diego, their happy hour is until 8pm!
Staffs are great! Johnny at the door is amazing! Rodney, Roman and Ryan are great guys and definitely know how to take care of their customers.

Second visit here, and it was better than the first. Bartenders Reily and Annette took great care of me; great beer and food suggestions. Manager Tina made sure all was good and really made me feel welcome; great customer service and a very well run bar.
Will visit again on my next trip, you should visit as well.

Come on a Thursday and all drinks are 50% off and all appetizers as well. I had no idea that deal was happening when I stopped by so I made sure to take advantage of it. They feature a full bar as well as several beers on tap. For apps my group decided on chips & salsa, chicken strips, and the truffle fries. Drinks and apps for 3 people came out to a whopping $ 21 bucks. Not bad! The chicken strips were very good. Very juicy and the buffalo sauce was great. Huge portions too! The truffle fries were very crispy thin fries with lots of parmesan. The chips and salsa were pretty basic. Nothing to write about except they were only $ 2! The staff here are very friendly and I can tell this place gets packed during weekends. I would highly recommend coming here on Thursdays if you can for their amazing deals.

Was a bit skeptical about this place after being greeted by the security guard Johnny I felt like I was at home. He invited us in and gave us the best customer service I’ve ever received at a bar. Made food and drink recommendations and made sure we were taken care of.
The bartender was super friendly and helpful, very attentive and gorgeous.
This place is filled with great food, spot on drinks and specials and amazing service. I will definitely be coming back again.

Came here for the BOGO drink special they had going on which turned out to be one of the cheapest drinks we had downtown.
$ 12 for two pitchers, yes they serve single drinks in pitchers, also free shot with Unilocal check in, best deal anywhere!
Service was also excellent, they have a DJ, all around descent, not too crowded, great stop if you are on a budget.
