Worst tasting food ever! Friend got the chicken and waffles, the waffles were burnt and the chicken were basically chicken tenders/nuggets. I ordered French toast with hash browns and sausage. French toast and hash browns were bland and sausage absolutely gross. The staff was friendly and we received our food at a normal time. We were there on a Saturday night around 11:30 pm.

Worst IHOP you will ever go to!!! Do not come here if you have other options and even if you don’t, you’re probably better off starving for the day. From the terrible cashier taking orders who doesn’t know how to properly greet a person or the annoyed waitress who obviously hates her job, this experience was by far the worst I have ever had. After a great night of dancing in the gaslamp clubs we needed to refuel and thought that ihop would be a good idea… boy were we wrong. We ordered our food at around 2:00am only to be surprised at 2:45am with«oops we’re sorry, your order isn’t ready, please wait 5 mins», 20 minutes later still nothing, apparently the incompetent employees mixed up the entire restaurants order. About 5 people requested their money to be returned. If I could give this negative 5 stars I would, unfortunately I can’t. Save yourself a headache and stay away!

Although the food was decent, I wouldn’t come back here again. It took just about 40 minutes to get our food. I’d expect for any place that has the word«express» in their name, to at least have our appetizer out in no more than 15 – 20 minutes but we received our appetizer minutes after our actual food. They gave me the wrong order so I still had to wait. The lady who was bringing the meals was very prompt to fix it but to be honest don’t waste your time to go eat there because you’ll wait much longer than expected so it’s not worth it.

They got our order totally wrong and it’s not even that cheap. Go to Brian’s 24 and you get more food for the price.

Pancakes, awesome. Service, awesome. A waiter, whose real name is Wayne, but goes by «Superman» was indeed the most super of men. He’s the best. Go get yoself some pancakes.

My friend went to the restroom and obviously locked the door. An employee walked in on her with a key, without knocking. A horrible experience for my shocked friend. The kitchen also got two of our orders wrong.

I arrived before the lunch crowd; only one table occupied after I ordered and sat down. Just about every other table was soon occupied with customers who must have appeared much hungrier than I did. EVERY table was served before me and some were actually done and left before I received my meal. After ordering, the cashier gave me a big number to set on my table; the same number as on my printed receipt. The other tables had similar temporary numbers, but it should come as no surprise that my number was lower than every other table. Yet, the server didn’t catch on that my table with the lowest number was frustratingly clear while all others were served. My coffee was provided upon ordering so all was not lost, except for my meal, when I inquired as to its whereabouts. «What did you order?» she asked. «Everything on order #11», I replied, which curiously matched the big white sign with two black ‘1’s in front of me. That’s what I get for going to an IHOP in a town full of cool places to eat. It’s all Brian 24’s fault: if he had been open, I wouldn’t have needed the 11 in the first place.

I came into I hop from a club and as soon as I came in I was helped by an employee named Steven. He was amazingly helpful. Because I hop express is different than normal ihops. He helped me and my wife and had the calmest demeaner and was not what I expected. Just his great attitude made me enjoy coming in. He also took the complicated order I have him perfectly. for that I am giving this I hop and five stars and Steven ten stars.

I DONOTRECOMMEND, menu very limited and service as well. It was 5 of us and each entrée came out individually so by the time my daughters food came out everyone else was pretty much done eating… They came out to verify our order 3 times, and every time a plate came out they asked what else was missing… Poor service and I’ve never paid $ 75 for 3 adults and 2 kids at an ihop… should have just went to Richard walkers! Never again-ever!

Pleasantly surprised by the great service! We stumbled in for the free short stack of pancakes that came with a donation to children’s charity. Great service!

Would not go here! Bad service(took +25minutes before our entire order was served), order was not as requested, meats were served before pancakes were ready(can’t have one without the other), scrambled eggs tasted like the boxed mixture, there was no regular old fashioned syrup at any of the tables I could see(only the flavored varieties). Salt and pepper shakers, syrup holder, and table were nasty sticky. Servers hung around the hot food table chatting, no expediting from what I could see. Our server said she was waiting for my pancakes after she delivered the rest of our order, 5 minutes later I went to go check myself where they were… Not even on the grill yet! Breakfast platter and kids breakfast, no drinks– $ 18 not worth it! Go else where!

If I could give this place no stars I would. My iced tea smelled like sulphur and egg. There were cockroaches running around on the walls. The staff didn’t care when we brought up the issues and sarcastically told me to Unilocal it so here I am. Do not eat here if you value your health! This place should be shut down immediately for health code violations.

We were looking for a quick place to eat before going for a nail appointment and we came here. It says Express, but it took a while to get our food. The menu is limited, which is why it’s express? Regardless, the place seemed like a mess. it was clean enough, but def could be cleaner. Also, you first order at the counter, get a number, find a table and they bring your food over. We ordered a double BLT, an omelet and a breakfast burrito. Double BLT, we thought it’d be double the bacon, but it actually just had an extra slice of bread in it. The omelet was nothing special. The breakfast burrito, it tasted OK. but there was unidentifiable looking veggies inside.

OMG! I love this place! I ate here during Comic Con for the past two years. Its located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. They are now opened 24 hours. I’ve only gone in the early morning for breakfast and enjoyed my dining experience. It was fast and delicious. Its a great place for a hot meal and decent prices. BTW, they offer a «military discount» of 10% off your meal. I will be back next year during Comic Con.

Don’t go here please!!! It’s not the worst place in the world, but it WILL leave you with regret. My sister and I were starving after a long walk around the Comic Con outskirts and we wanted delicious burgers. We decided to go somewhere we already were familiar with and came accross this little place. It looks cute on the outside sitting in the corner of the street. The inside is nicely lit by natural light, you are not walked to a specific seat so that gives you the freedom of choice to sit near a nicely lit window(the only perk). The menu is displayed on screens, with an obnoxious blue background with yellow text color scheme, behind the register. My sister chose the classic bacon and cheese burger and I got the chicken breast burger. She hated her fries because there was no crunch or seasoning. My chicken breast was cold and hard it felt like it was just microwaved for 30 seconds. Not good. The customer service was nothing to brag about either. Just don’t go here.

Order came out correct and hot. I have never been to an express IHOP. My party times it about right but I can see this place being nightmare during the morning rush. Limited seating, self serve drinks, coffee refill at counter, order at counter waitress brings food to table… Not bad just different. I had the ham and cheese omelet. Good amount of heart stopping, artery clogging goodness! Four stars for a decent meal but let’s not get excited it’s IHOP and their completion is Denny’s.

Why all the 1 star reviews? Maybe people just like to complain. Ordered an omelette and some breakfast food for carry out. They were super friendly, extremely professional, the food was great, and everyone inside seemed happy. This is an IHOP express. It’s not like they’re trying to trick anyone. Don’t complain that you’re getting food served cafeteria style. That’s the whole point. It’s a tiny location with a limited menu that enables downtowners to get some tasty breakfast treats without having to drive to Point Loma. «Wahhhh!»(you).

Worst burger I’ve had in my life… normally when you leave the club late at night, anything and everything tastes good. This was a waste of calories in my book. Fries were meh. Customer service gets the stars… they did try to fix the issue but I did not want more food from that place.

Just… no. Don’t do it. When you’re inebriated and walking around downtown, and someone says, «I could go for some food,» don’t let yourself say, «I guess IHOP is ok…» It’s not! It’s a waste! For some reason I thought chicken strips and fries were the safest option(note the above comment of inebriation), but of course, the strips were over-battered and fried super thin chicken.

Luckily they were open early Thanksgiving morning, so I could get some breakfast before heading over to cheer on my sister at local marathon she was participating in. At the Express IHOP, you order at the counter and their menu is somewhat downsized, but with still plenty to choose from. I ordered their breakfast melt for $ 7 and some change. It was good and hit the spot, but I was surprise that it did not come with a side of hash browns or tater tots, like the other locations around town, when I have ordered the same item.( ) Then melt came with a good amount of ham, soft lightly seasoned eggs, and melted American cheese.( ) I liked the attempt of toasting the sourdough because it was unevenly toasted. The center was crunchy but around it was soft. They could of done better with the toasting. The girl at the counter was cool and brought me food to me when it was ready, but for the $ 7, I should of gotten some taters…
