Most unprofessional crappy service ever. From the pick up time to the drop off, entire service is crap. UBER is 1000 times better

I don’t recommend Silver Cab at all. Our taxi was 15 minutes late, unacceptable for a cab company!!! Therefor we arrived late at the airport and had to rush to the check-​in.
We tried to call them many times while waiting for our taxi because we had no clue of when the guy would show up and nobody picked up the phone.
Nobody took the time to let us know about the delay.
Also it says «flat rate to the airport» well this is a scam because we were charged by miles/​time spent in the cab.
DO NOT GO FOR A SILVER CAB!

My 2 star review is mostly based on the dispatch /​reservation system. On my recent trip i had an early morning flight so when i called Silver cab before i went to sleep the night before and reserved a cab to pick me up at 4:30 am. Gave them my name, phone number, and address, and 4:30 am pick up time; «OK 4:30 am, You’re all set» she said.
I set my alarm, 4:15 get up brush my teeth. 4:30 rolls around, no one shows up, i give them the benefit of the doubt and wait another 5 minutes before calling… Still a no show. I call them, and explain that i made a reservation the night before and no one has shown up, «I don’t have anything for that.» he tells me. WHAT, WTF! What was this name, address, phone number, and ok you’re all set, deal then?
«do you want me to send someone now?» well yeah, i need to get to the air port «ok i’ll have someone there in 20 minutes.» That means i’ll be there 25 minutes after i wanted to arrive!
I think to myself F#cK I’m going to miss my flight! With a little quick thinking i unpack my suitcase and get rid of all the large liquids and gels so that i can throw it in hand carry and avoid the check in counter and head strait for the security line.
The guy shows up he’s nice, i explain the situation, he speed up a bit because he understands my situation and doesn’t want me to miss my flight. Thankfully i made the flight partly because he sped a little and partly because i avoided checking my luggage, if it were not for that little quick thinking i might have been screwed.
The driver was nice and thoughtful and the only reason it’s a 2 star review and not 1. Guess I’d use them again but only at the time i need a ride. Don’t call ahead and make a reservation they don’t have a reliable system. Just call 30 minutes before.
Come to think of it, i’d probably go with another company next time. Why should i change how i do things?! Im the consumer, I’m paying, I’ll find a company who can keep a reservation and arrive when i want them to.
Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where They don’t have a car for Jerry at the rental car agency.
Jerry: I don’t understand, I made a reservation, do you have my reservation?
Agent: Yes, we do, unfortunately we ran out of cars.
Jerry: But the reservation keeps the car here. That’s why you have the reservation.
Agent: I know why we have reservations.
Jerry: I don’t think you do. If you did, I’d have a car. See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don’t know how to *hold* the reservation and that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.

Silver Cab caused me to miss my flight. The dispatcher had told me that a cab would pick me up in 10 – 20 minutes, but I had to wait an hour. And Silver Cab never bothered to call me later to let me know that it would be longer… I had to keep calling them to get the status. If Silver Cab had just told me, I could have made other arrangements to get to the airport in time.
The cab driver also did not bother to call me when he arrived on my street, even though I had asked the dispatcher several times to make sure that he call me. When I told him that I was upset that I had waited so long and had a flight to catch, he said that he had been told that I had cancelled my cab ride, but I had never cancelled it. When he finally got me to the airport, he saw no urgency in my making my flight. He thought it was more important to check his cell phone rather than open the trunk, and I had to remind him that I needed my luggage.
When I finally got into the airport, I was told that I would not be able to make the flight.
I called the dispatcher to let her know that I was upset and that Silver Cab had made me miss the flight. She just said «OK» and did not bother apologizing.
I cannot afford to miss flights that cost me hundreds of dollars, and neither can you. If you want to make your flight or other plans on time, use Über or Lyft. That way, you can see the locations of the vehicles and get a good estimate as to when they will arrive at your home. Silver Cab will not give you a decent time estimate, a decent dispatcher, or a decent driver, and will not be concerned about your schedule.

Worst cab company I have ever had the misfortune of using. Called hours before to secure a cab at a specific time. Both times the cab was over 45 minutes late. I missed a flight and was late to work.
Please never EVER use this company!!!

Called to schedule a cab ahead of time. Don’t ever call to schedule. They did not call us and left us waiting outside for 30 min. We called the cab company several times to find out where he was, always giving us the same answer «he’s on the way» do not use this cab service.

I used these guys 3 times a week at least. They tell you 15 minutes and it’s normally 20 to 25 or the cab driver cancels your order in my case 2 cab drivers, and they don’t give you a courtesy call to let you know your order is going to now be 30 min. I hope lyft and user take these cab companies that lie and expect a tip. And why is paying with my card a big deal to these people. I will never use this company again. Good luck

I complained to the Better Business Bureau and the business, errr CROOKS, never responded. Figures.
Below is the email I received from the Better Business Bureau.

By far silver cab is the worst cab company I have ever used in my life I wish I could give negative stars. I’m part of the flight crew so I’ve been to every city you can imagine and have experienced better customer service from cab drivers in which they hardly spoke English.
I just moved to San Diego this month from New York and don’t own a car so needed a form of transportation for my fiancé to get to her job. I used there service you could say 1 ½ times. I originally called silver cab to notify them that I wanted to use them 4 – 5 times a week and that would need them at a specific time each day for pick up at fix flat rate cab ride for my fiancé which the dispatcher told me was set up. I called once again 7hrs prior to needing the cab ride to confirm and was reassured she was getting a ride. My fiancé leaves our home and while waiting in the designated area she was getting picked up, she received a phone call from the cab drivers personal number who tells her that he just woke up and that his on his way. Twenty minutes later he shows up. When he shows up he asks for her to give street by street directions or to tell him what the gps is saying instead of being attentive himself. They finally arrive to the destination in which the cab driver harasses her for 13minutes for extra cab fare because he let the meter run and «didn’t know» what the flat rate was. After a few minutes of me arguing with this incompetent sexiest individual over the phone, he final takes the flat rate fare but he drops her off a few blocks away because he doesn’t want to go through the hassle of making a u-​turn. Being the creepy type of driver only this company would hire he proceeds to tailgate my girlfriend slowly for another 3blocks just glaring at her and apparently forgot all about the u-​turn he’d had to take.
I should of learned from my first experience but needing another cab service I decided to call again but this time voice my concerns with the issues that came up with the last driver. I was able to voice my opinions and the gentleman on the phone reassured me everything would be okay and that another ride was arranged. I should of just called another company because this is the ½ so called service. This time my fiancé waited for 10 minutes past the scheduled pick up time, so she called the dispatcher only to come across a rude women who said no cabs are in the area even though we had scheduled this ride days/​hours in advance. The dispatcher also being the trailer thrash type I’ve only heard of use rude language to notify her to call a yellow cab because nobody is coming. After hearing about this I called the cab company only to find out SILVER CAB!!! is the WORST! cab service, after mentioning the scheduled pick up or lack of she muttered profanity and hung up on me.
I urge anyone who thinks just because they offer a flat rate and they can get a deal it’s not worth it. Avoid silver cab this is an unreliable, incompetent cab company which doesn’t believe in customer service. I honestly don’t know how they are still running. Did I mention SILVER CAB DONT USE!!!

Driver arrived early and was quiet and courteous. Cab was clean, spacious, and a smooth ride. Nice service. Would recommend.

I needed a cab and quick. Found this one on Unilocal.and the reviews left me feeling shaky about calling Silver Cab. It was my first cab experience in SD. I have lived elsewhere in a touristy town where cabs can be found my the dozens.
I called Silver Cab. and right from the call until my journey was complete… I gotta give them 5 stars.
When the dispatcher picked up my call, she was friendly. Told me a cab could get me in 10 minutes. I asked if she knew a ballpark quote of what my rate would be… she calculated it for me. She told mr what driver number would pick me up. Sure enough Mr Driver #18 arrived promptly. He was courtoues and friendly.
We arrived at my destination quickly. The fare came out to less than what was quoted — we hit a lot of green lights.
Other reviews have said that Silver Cab was cash only… this one had a point of service machines to be able to pay with a card.
I will use Silver Cab again when I need a cab.

Truly the worst cab company and drivers anywhere I have ever used a taxi. Drivers in 80% of the time have no idea where things are and do not drive well. Drivers along with most dispatchers have no personality. Cabs are old and uncomfortable.
I am a bartender and have called cabs thousand of times, I know how they are. People don’t want a DUI and rely on a car service. This is no car service.
I am so glad LYFT is around now. BOYCOTT SILVER and become a member of LYFT or UBER. Get a credit right off the bat and clean nice drivers, clean nice cars. OH! Did I mention the wait is normally no more than 5 mins. A cab can take 30 mins
I hope these new services kill SILVER.

Call and schedule a cab. Go ahead, do it. You’ll regret it.
The sad thing is that they were once my go to cab company when I lived in North Park. At that point (several years ago), they were fairly quick but you still would get the bad cab attitude 90% of the time. I was able to deal with that but since then they have only rolled downhill.
The drivers never seem to know or care where they are going and are usually on the phone the whole time. Be sure to buckle up because chances are that you have just embarked on a wild ride in a cab that sounds like it is going to rattle apart under your feet. And then there’s this: «Credit card?! Whaaaaaat?! Are you craaaazzzyyyy?! Cash only, I will take you to an ATM.» Sorry Charlie. When they asked on the phone if it would be cash or credit I was crystal clear.
With options like Über and Lyft in SD now, skip these dudes — they don’t deserve you dough.

I wish I may, I wish I might, Give Silver Cab ZERO stars tonight.
But that’s not possible, so they’ll receive one.
Silver Cab ruined my anniversary yesterday.
My hubbs and I decided to take a taxi to North Park, bar hop & have a Fancy Schmancy dinner. Our son was settled into bed at his Grandma’s house, & for the ONE NIGHTTTT… We’re freeeeeee (or so we thought).
I called Silver Cab at 8pm, requested a cab for 10:00pm. The first guy I spoke to was cool, took all my info and assured they will be outside at 10:00 sharp.
at 9pm I called to confirm we were still booked for 10 (since I’ve heard lots of cab over book or just plain diss you) just to make sure everything was good (I like to keep things on track)
At 10:30pm no one was here.
At 11pm no one was here.
At 11:10pm I called to check on the cab and was told it was dispatched and should arrive momentarily.
At 11:30pm no one was here.
At MIDNIGHT I received a call from the CAB DRIVER who promptly hung up once I answered. I then called the company and told the RUDE ASS WOMAN what was going on and that chick had the nerve to tell me «IF I AM SO IMPATIENT THEN I SHOULD CALL ANOTHER CAB COMPANY»
Bars close at 2, it wasn’t even worth it by then. We ended up spending our only free night of the year watching redbox. Which was okay since we still had our QT.
But still, EFF YOU SILVER CAB.

Horrible service! Waited over an hour just to be told that there was no driver in the area and that they went to Chula Vista and there is not even a street in Chula Vista by the name of mine! They should be shut down!!!

I normally don’t write bad reviews, but when it gets to this level, I feel like I have to warn others.
I called for a van cab to fit six, but even tho they advertise van cabs, they didn’t have any. Fine.
I ordered two cabs which took about 15 min. Fine. The first cab drove over the lawn and off the curb of the hotel lot, and continued with a scary drive into town. Not bad, but still minus points.
I called a few hours later for a return cab, hoping to give them another chance to redeem themselves. They originally sent two cabs, then decided they could only send one. Fine.
We waited outside at the given address in wind and rain, and the cab never came. After 24 minutes, I called back. They told me a cab wasn’t available, and that they called and confirmed it with me. Pure lies.
I hate giving bad reviews, but when you lie, and when you’re dishonest, when you’re a poor business, and when you make my girlfriend stand in the rain and try and justify it, you deserve no business.
Not from me or anyone else reading this review.
We used another company but it’s not worth mentioning as that’s not the point.

Horrible horrible service. By far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Such horrible people run this place!
My friend and I called a cab from a bar one early night. We asked the dispatcher to have a cab come in 15 minutes, but he showed up within 3 minutes instead. When he called us demanding that we come outside we kindly asked if he could wait (and keep the meeter running, of course) and he barked out «No, I can’t do that» and left us!
Then the dispatcher called back my friend, asking if we still needed a cab. We explained that he came to soon and needed to cancel our cab, to which the dispatcher replied «Do us a favor, and never call this cab company again».
Let me say that again…

WHAT??? How rude!!! I have never had someone talk to me like this before! I have never been so shocked!
I will NEVER use this cab company again, and I will make sure that NONE of my friend or family use this company. They should simply close down with how rude they were

I have called them on two occassions and had bad experiences both times. The first was for a cab for friends and I and after being told the cab was outside and us standing in the cold, we were informed the cab picked up someone else in the community. We had to wait another 20 minutes making us late to meet with friends.
The second was in placing a reservation call for a cab to the airport the next morning. The address, phone number and time were all confirmed at booking… time to leave for the airport and the cab did not arrive. Upon calling, they had forgotten.
I would not recommend this cab service.

Came back home to Lindbergh on a red eye. Get to the taxi lines and try to get the cleanest cab (also a cabbie that was not on a cell phone).
Well apparently that would not work, as the cab pusher said I had to take this first cab in the line.
So I tell the guy where to go, jump in and we are off.
This guy was on his phone the whole time, literally.
He had a blue tooth visor hands free, and was chattering on incessantly in (my guess Somali) his native language.
He missed the exit I told him to take, and still did not
end his phone call as I was explaining how to get home.
We then double back through surface streets (eating up a few more bucks), and get to my neighborhood.
I tell him to stop, and he keeps going another block and he finally asks «Where house».
I reply «This is good I can walk, stop HERE».
While still on the phone, he does his credit card thing, and sign it and give it back with a big 0 in the tip.
As I get out, he almost drives off before I close the door.
At least he did not have a hygiene issue, and the ride cost me the same as my ride to the airport in Johnny cab (who I will call next time).
