There a reason why everyone on here is giving Eric 5 stars. He’s worthy of every penny!
Even with us running be hide, hiding in bathrooms and the whole bridal party just all over the place. He keep claim and got the party started!
He DJ my wedding this past Saturday (12÷5÷15).

Eric was the best! You could tell from the first meeting that he knew what he was doing and he was good at what he does. We used him for our wedding on 10÷17÷15 and he was fantastic. He helped us finalize an event timeline which kept everything running smoothly and the online tools/​database really made things easy. But, most importantly, he’s a great DJ. We had a few definite requests we wanted to hear and left the rest of the song choices up to him… and he nailed it. He had the right mix of oldies, pop and throwbacks and the dance floor was never empty.
Eric delivered on everything he promised, was easy to work with, knew what he was doing and is a great DJ, not to mention the price is right. I would highly recommend him.

Eric was very friendly & easy to work with. He kept my wedding moving at a good pace and played all my requested songs. He made sure my guitar player and officiant has proper mics and amps and met with me prior to the event to ensure name pronunciations and timeline was nailed down which calmed my nerves.

Just got married 2 weeks ago. Eric was very affordable and easy to work with. He is professional and was there on time to set up both the ceremony and reception areas for our big day. My husband and I were really particular as to which songs were played at the reception, and Eric did an amazing job keeping the music going and the dance floor full all night. The electronic web forms Eric provides to enter all the wedding info were so helpful and convenient. I would highly recommend Eric for all your DJ needs!

Eric DJ’d our wedding in August and did a fantastic job. He played a perfect mix of songs we had requested as well as other material that got everyone on the dance floor. He had a great soundsystem for outdoor events as well as extensive uplighting/​etc. He was great to work with in planning the event, walking us through all the details and making sure that everything would go smoothly the day of (it did!). Eric takes great pride in his work and we cannot recommend him strongly enough.

Eric DJ’d our 07/​17/​2015 wedding at the Martin Johnson House in La Jolla. We met with him in March, and knew immediately that we wanted him for our day!
We were really focused on picking out our own music for most of the day, wanting more indie and rock earlier during cocktail and dinner, and then modern party music with songs for the older generations mixed in for the dancing part of the evening. He listened to all of our requests, and thenput together seamless selectrions of music that incorporated what we wanted, but also kept the whole day moving!
We even had some silly requests (an uncle of mine and his sons did a little skit, we had some friends do a choreographed dance later in the evening), and he handled them all with tact and made sure everyone felt included. I even requested if Eric could play «Timber» by Kesha a second time later in the night (it’s my favorite party song), and he told me «I’ll play anything you want, you’re the bride!»
Eric is also very tech savvy, which made our lives so much easier among all our wedding vendors. He accepts credit card payment, and you complete your timeline, song requests, etc through his secure website. After an initial face to face meeting, we had one phone meeting shortly before our wedding. Otherwise we completed everything online at our own pace, which was really helpful!
Thank you Eric for keeping our party going on a high note and working with all of our special requests. I would recommend Eric to anyone!

Eric DJ’ed and emceed our wedding on ⁶⁄₂₀ and did a fantastic job. He was very easy to work with both during the pre-​wedding planning and during the reception itself and gave us just the kind of party we wanted. We highly recommend him!

We were initially a little skeptical of so many reviews, and all 5 stars, but they are deserved. Eric brought personal attention to our wedding with a few calls to get to know us and what we wanted for the event. We were able to let him know how active a participant we wanted him to be and could even specify his attire for the evening. In addition to the calls (one when booking and one a few days before the event) we had access to a customer portal on his website where we could specify a timeline for the night, songs we had to have, songs we would like played, songs we didn’t want at all, and other relevant information to help him provide the service we wanted. The web portal even reminded us about a few things that we needed to fit in to the schedule and pick music for.
Day of the wedding Eric was fantastic as well. He showed up early and was ready to go long before people arrived. With him as MC the flow of everything throughout the evening was seamless, and the music he played (outside of our requests) was perfect. He kept a good crowd on the dance floor at an event with a large mix of people, and we had many people come up to us and say what a great job he was doing.
Eric has been doing this for a while and it shows — he knows what he is doing. We highly recommend him to DJ anyone’s event.

We hired Eric for our January Scripps Seaside Forum wedding and he exceeded every expectation we had for a DJ! From the moment we had our first meeting with Eric, he understood the Hall n’ Oats music vibe we were going for and wanted to help. When we wanted a particular song, he got it. When we wanted a different introduction for each bridal party into the reception, it was done seamlessly. Eric provided excellent sound for both our outdoor beachy ceremony and indoor reception. Even better for the technology unsavvy people, his music site is easy to navigate and he was able to read the crowd to keep the dancing going all night. With all of the stresses and choices of planning a wedding, we have absolutely no regrets hiring Eric.

We hired Eric for our wedding on May 9, 2015 in San Diego. He was so easy to work with! I ended up having another vendor cancel on additional lighting and a monogram last minute, and Eric had no problem adding that to our contact. He truly was a life saver! We had two phone meetings and both times I could tell he really loved his job and was a total professional! His lighting was beautiful and the monogram he got us was perfect!
He was able to find all the songs I requested even if they weren’t available on his website and everyone loved the music he played that went beyond my playlist. His music selection was perfect for our guests and matched our music interest. Weeks after my friends are still talking about how our DJ knew what jams to play and how much fun the reception was because of the music.
He came over and talked to us during the reception just to check in with us to make sure we were okay with everything. We asbolutely loved all the work and effort he put into the music, lighting and monogram!

Best DJ ever! I’ve been putting off this review because I want it to be perfect.
We booked Eric early in our wedding planning based solely off of his amazing reviews. He was always available via email or phone whenever I had questions. We talked 1.5 weeks before my wedding and I felt so comfortable — he makes you feel like one of his good friends! He’s so down to earth, willing to accommodate, and he definitely knows what he’s doing. He asked me questions I hadn’t even thought of which was great… I knew he was looking out for us and wanted to make it a night to remember.
I called him on the morning of the wedding to make a last minute change to the ceremony music and it was no sweat for him! When I finally met him in person at the wedding, he was the nicest guy! The lighting looked phenomenal! He played all of our requested songs and did a wonderful job playing songs based off of the ones that got people out on the dance floor. My dad even called Eric a few weeks before the wedding to plan a little surprise for me during his speech… they both kept it a complete secret from me and I thought that was pretty special!
Eric is a true professional and knows exactly what he is doing! We would have paid a lot more for his services! He was so well prepared and full of contagious energy for our big day. The DJ can definitely make or ruin your wedding day and I recommend Eric with 100% confidence! He is truly the best DJ around!

Eric provided amazing DJ services for our outdoor destination wedding in La Jolla. His online system for scheduling the details of the event and selecting recommended and «do not play» songs was very convenient for us because we live in a different time zone. He was easy to talk to on the phone and highly professional. We spoke with him before the wedding about our music tastes, the specific songs we needed him to play (e.g., for first/​last/​parents dances, etc) and the progression of music styles throughout the night, and then he did a fantastic job with the rest!
Eric brought portable microphones for the ceremony (important due to the coastal breezes and background noise) and understood the layout of the venue well enough to perfectly set up his equipment including the extra up-​lights that he brought. We didn’t see him much on the day of the wedding but I know he was working hard behind the scenes with our wedding coordinator to keep things running smoothly. He also played a big part in keeping everything on schedule (we wanted to pack a lot of special events into a short period of time and had to vacate the venue by a specific time at the end of the night to avoid extra fees). We never even had to think about timing or transitioning between different components of the event because his announcements made all of that happen perfectly.
Eric also seems to really understand his audience. Our wedding involved a mix of slower oldies at the beginning and progressed into faster dance party music by the end. He knew how to read the crowd and when to pick things up and slow things down. Leading up the wedding, we were really nervous that no one would dance, but on the wedding day, due to Eric’s great music and enthusiasm, we almost had the opposite problem. There were so many people dancing all night long that our only regret is that we didn’t have a bigger dance floor! We agree with the other reviewers — we wish we could have more parties in San Diego so we could hire Eric again and again!

A heart felt THANK YOU to Eric Starr. I’ll personally never forget his energy & kindness to us on our special day. I loved his organization + the time/​energy that he put into our photo slideshow. I’ll personally never forget dances with my new husband, my girls, my mama, my dad… Eric was so easy to work with and I (WE) honestly had no worries from the time that I met him. 100% responsible… Reliable… Fun… Personalized… And he did little things like going the extra mile to pronounce the wedding party names correctly… He played our ‘please play’ list & many extra songs– just based on our style. Our day would NOT have been as perfect without a SUPER wedding DJ. Eric took away all worry/​stress in the music category. He really cares & we hope to use him in the future with any other DJ needs!

Eric just did my wedding on July 24^th, 2014 at Twin Oaks Garden, and I could not recommend him more.
He was so easy to work with, and the day of the wedding I barely spoke to him. I say this as a positive thing, because you don’t realize until the day of your wedding, you will have little time to talk to the people you’ve hired to help on your wedding day, and you need professionals that can do their job with little direction from yourself.
Eric has the wedding thing down. He kept the party going, and appeared to work extremely well with the wedding coordinator. The music he played outside of my must play list was perfect, he really seemed to know the genre that me and my bride wanted.
I want another occasion to have him play at, just not sure what or when that would be =P. If you are considering E. Starr entertainment for your event, I would tell you to call now and make a reservation, you do not want to miss out on his services.

Eric was the DJ at our wedding over Memorial Day weekend 2014. He is very detail oriented and provided an outstanding presentation on his services during our initial meeting. In follow up meetings, he asked all the right questions to make our wedding and reception a great success. He is very easy to work with and he has a true passion for music. Eric did our wedding ceremony and reception in April, 2013 at the Coronado Community Center. He did a phenomenal job that night and throughout the whole process leading up to the big night.
When we first met with Eric he had a great presentation walking us through all our options and did a great job getting to know us, our personalities and our music tastes. The wedding night reflected this extra work and care.
He has a website where you can pick out all the music for the ceremony, special dances like the first dance etc. and also create a must-​play list and a do-​not-​play list for the reception itself. He makes sure to follow those lists but also reads the crowd and vibe of the night really well, mixing in other music based on the flow of the night.
Our dance floor was filled all night (and we had a huge dance floor) and all our guests had an absolute blast at the reception. Eric has an outgoing personality and is a true professional. He MC’d the night and kept everyone entertained and having a good time.
Eric provided all his own equipment including the mic for the ceremony and some cool up-​lighting for the ceremony that was a really nice touch and added to the ambiance of the reception room. His pricing was very reasonable for everything provided.
I highly recommend Eric as a wedding DJ!

Eric is probably the best wedding DJ ever.
We had a VERY ecelctic mix of music requests (everything from The Strokes, Peter Bjorn and John, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, classical music, Emmy Rossum, and Foxy Shazam, to Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Chromeo, and Billy Idol… just to name a few) and somehow he made it all work nicely and kept people energized and having fun the whole night.
You especially need to book him if you are having your wedding at the Twin Oaks Garden Estate in San Marcos. He’s on their preferred/​must use their DJs vendor list, and he knows that venue like the back of his hand.
