This doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I came in without an appointment and almost immediately walked out. The woman behind the counter was rude and has a total lack of customer service training. The place is run-​down and gross. There was also more than a 2 hour wait even though they had just opened. I ended up going to the La Mesa clinic, but Quest messed up the billing completely. They duplicated part of the test without getting it pre-​authorized first, and on top of the $ 272.49 towards my deductible they’re sticking me with the remaining balance! My oncologist and my benefits counselor all state that I do not owe that amount (it’s actually illegal in California to do Balance Billing), and unfortunately my oncologist said they’re doing this to thousands of (cancer) patients. I’ve tried calling multiple times but no one ever seems to know as they’ll state the additional $ 249.50 they’re trying to charge is «a deductible, co-​pay or something». Yet Aetna states outright that they did not follow SOPs by getting it pre-​authorized and they deemed it unnecessary. So now I’ve been having collections call me twice a day. I will NEVER set foot into a Quest lab again as long as I can help it!

I came here to get my biometrics done. It was easy making an appointment online. Getting there was easy but parking kind of sucked. I parked at a lot and had to pay $ 3. My appointment was at 8:15 on a Friday. I checked in and got called within 5 minutes. Staff got my weight, height, waist size, blood pressure, and blood sample. I was in and out within 15 minutes with no issues. I got my results online within 5 days. Other than parking my only other compliant was that some of the staff were gossiping about other employees pretty loudly. Not very professional in my opinion. Other than that everything went smoothly for me.

Walked in, walked right back out. It’s old, filthy and disorganized. I can’t imagine letting someone stick a needle in my arm in that place!

After going there again I must update my review. To be honest, I was having a rough preggo day. To be fair, it was mostly my doctors offices fault for telling me to go there for prenatal screening, they forgot to tell me they discounted the screenings at quest. The parking company sucks, but again can’t really blame them for that either. I went back for my glucose testing recently and the staff was really helpful and nice, I didn’t have to wait at all to be seen as I scheduled my visit. The staff checked in on me and offered to have me lay down as the glucose test makes you a bit sick. I still don’t appreciate how difficult it is to talk to an actual person before going in since you have to pay for parking and if they don’t offer the screening you need you are out 3 bucks just to walk in, the neighborhood seriously has absolutely no parking, all the streets require resident passes to park.

Pick another lab location. This place is dirty, slow and unfriendly…

When I first read the Unilocal comments, I was apprehensive to choose this location, because of all of the negative reviews. However, I was signed in, and taken back to have my blood drawn within ten minutes, time. Without an appointment. Everyone was extremely nice, and diligent, especially Holly. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

I’ m still not sure that someone wasn’t trying to pull a scam. I came to this office yesterday to have some blood drawn. After the tech put my info in to the computer, he said that I had to give him my credit card up front before he could draw my blood. He said that they will just put a hold on it, and will charge it once they find out from the insurance company what my portion will be. I told him that I did not feel comfortable doing that and I would just go somewhere else. He said they could just bill me then and proceeded with the blood work. He said they do this only to people with a PPO. (What about people with NO insurance? Wouldn’t they be at a larger risk with them?)
I had a funny feeling about the whole exchange.

Please train your drivers to be obedient to good service and the safety of others.
1:04 pm, on the 163 S, Washington St. Exit vehicle SD15 chose to merge 3 lanes at once while it was not heavy but busy in traffic. The way they smoothly traveled across and did not jerk the steering wheel lead me to believe they this was the norm for driving company vehicles.

I thought I was being punked when I came to this Quest. It is super hard to find. I called and they said it was in the basement of a tall grey building by Scripps. The building is brown and it is not underground in a basement, but rather on the first floor.
Anyway, I waited 20 minutes in the waiting room before anyone came out to greet me. There was another couple of people waiting. Then 3 employees came out at once apparently just talking in the back.
The red head with bangs had helped me. She ate M&Ms while she typed my tests into the computer right next to a sign that said no eating in the draw rooms. She then wiped her hands on her smock and drew my bood. Hygenic. She told me all about her life while she drew my blood but I was already put off.
I will go to there other Hillcrest location exclusively and hope they do not share employees.

I previously would have given this Quest location 5 stars. I’ve had two babies in the area and had to visit Quest on a regular basis during both pregnancies. When I made an appointment, I was always seen right away. The staff was friendly and things moved like clockwork. There was always someone overseeing the paperwork and administration in the front while a second person did the lab work in the back. It was a model of efficiency. Life was good.
Unfortunately, the management decided to reduce the afternoon staff at this location to one person. Even with our appointment we had to wait. There was no one at the front desk for periods of 10 – 15 minutes at a time. She was clearly overwhelmed. When we were called to the back, she had to continually back and forth between the lab room and the front desk to answer the phone, get the paperwork, etc. It was frustrating.
Mind you, this lone staffer was incredibly nice and calming and professional. She deserves five stars without a doubt. But until Quest gets its act together and adds a 2^nd staffer in the afternoons, I recommend taking your business elsewhere.
ps — the parking garage is pretty awful and does not accept credit cards.

I have been here three times so far. The two ladies that work there are very sweet and kind! They go out of their way to make conversation. it is actually really refreshing. The first time I was there, they gave me suggestions on where to go in San Diego and made jokes… very refreshing compared to the Quest in Tustin where they don’t speak English and all look like they want to kill themselves… anyway, this place is better!
Parking is a little bit of an issue. I think they have a pay lot right next door because I saw the stamp on the check in desk for validation. But, i just drive down the street and park next the apartments and walk.
The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is that they could more just a little bit more quickly and get you in and out the door.
