Description

Specialties

Monart is a specialized method that teaches children of all skill levels to draw realistically while helping them build confidence! Monart’s unique method teaches visual perception and fundamental drawing skills to children and teens in a non-competitive environment that promotes confidence and self-esteem. Using the Five Basic Elements of Shape (an artist’s ‘alphabet’) students are able to perceive the composition of the world around them and learn to draw any object using this visual language. The Monart method offers enough structure for growth and success, while allowing for freedom of expression and individuality in each student’s work.

Monart currently offers:

–Summer Art Camps

–Ongoing Art Classes at our Liberty Station Studio

–After School Art Programs at Public & Private Schools

–Daisy, Brownie & Girl Scouts Classes

–Private Party Group Classes

History

Established in 1992.

Monart School of Art opened in Solana Beach back in 1992 as one of the founding Monart franchises. Since 1979 the Monart drawing method has been taught around the world through Mona Brooke’s best selling book Drawing With Children. The original owner, Cynthia Stringfellow, set out to offer art classes and camps to children of all skill levels throughout the community. Since 1992, Monart has placed a high priority on offering art classes at public and private schools in addition to our studio in order to address the decrease of art programs in schools. The current owner, Leslie Vaughn, has been working to grow the school and extend our classes to more children in more schools throughout San Diego county. As of January 2015, our studio has moved down to Liberty Station as a more central location to better serve the greater San Diego area.

Meet the Manager

David L.

Manager

I am the general manager at Monart School of Art at Liberty Station in Point Loma. My wife and I moved to San Diego back in fall of 2008, and I came to work for Monart shortly after. Over the past 5 years I’ve really enjoyed working with so many talented kids and their parents. I’m very excited about the future, and I am committed to growing the school and offering art classes to more children at public and private schools throughout San Diego county. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions you may have.
