Mission Valley Dentists

I recently started coming to Mission Valley Dentists after not having been to the dentist in quite some time. I was nervous and knew I had some neglected maintenance that would have to be dealt with. I scheduled my appointment and can’t express how happy I have been that I came to them.
Both of my visits (so far) have been almost enjoyable, which is saying A LOT for a dentist visit. The care, the patience, their demeanor have been a ¹⁰⁄₁₀ and all of my nervousness about seeing the dentist has gone out the window. They put together a plan to get me back on track and explained everything to me in detail. I ended up needing a root canal and I literally could have taken a nap in the chair while the procedure was performed. No pain, no discomfort. I was literally more relaxed during my root canal than I am 85% of the rest the time.
If you’re in need of a dentist and have been putting it off, give them a call. You will feel MUCH better after your first visit and I’m so glad I did.

To the amazing doctors at mission valley, you all are beyond awesome! The staff could not be any better, starting with Kristina and Dede. What a better welcome than a smile when you first walk in to your most feared nightmare «the dentist». I don’t see why many say it’s over priced, I don’t believe in any of the negatives because you get what you pay for. Your not flossing? Well ask google what the outcome will be. PERIODONTAL DISEASE. It’s a shame when people lack education and blame it on «a scam». If a scam is what you believe in, go somewhere else don’t waist your time coming here because unlike most they CARE. I can almost guarantee my next check, that Scalla will treat you like her own and take the outermost care of you. From Omar to Enrique y’all are the best! Till next time MV :)

This is the second time I had to write a review as my first one was not here anymore. I am not sure what happened, but I don’t remember the names as well.
I saw a lot of bad reviews about people complaining about rotten service, but when I got there everything looked pretty normal if not great to me. There were a lot of customers and I was greeted in a timely manner. I was asked for my signature about all the paper work and the receptionist at the desk was very friendly and answered all my questions.
The technicians name I believe was Omar, and he was extremely friendly. I was greeted well and treated well. They used state of the art equipment and everything was very clean and tidy. He was able to take concerns with me getting my X-​rays as I do gag easily.
My Dentist was Dr. Nguyen. He was very nice and kind and he wanted to talk to me first before we did anything. This was rather strange for me as I was never use to seeing the dentist first to talk to. This was rather nice as he asked me for the reason for my visit, any problems I may be having, or any concerns I have with my teeth. He was very helpful in going through my X-​rays and explaining to me in great detail when I had questions.
He did recommend to me a prescription fluoride which could be seen as «pushy» as some people implied, but if you ask a question maybe they would inform you of why they would do it and you can make your own decision/​look it up yourself. I decided to try it as I figured I didn’t get a cleaning in over 2 – 3 years and thought my teeth could use some help.

I must admit this is the best, most genuine, @ extremely professional dentist office I have ever experience.

Rotten Service, all about making the most money off of their patients.
I went in for an emergency recementing of a crown. I was told by the dentist who was brand new that he needed an x-​ray first to determine why the crown had come loose. I already knew the reason was because I was over-waterpik’ing He proceeded to have the assistant run the X-​ray and told me that he believed that the root could be infected because there was some area that looked questionable in the X-​ray, refused to recement and didn’t even mention a reason as to why the actual crown had come loose. He also told me that he would need to destroy the original crown and re-​do the root canal, and make a brand new crown that they would guarantee for 5 years. The one he wanted to destroy was less than 2 years old. He also told me that no other dentist would touch it or recement it for me. I left his office and proceeded to my older dentist that was further away by my prior residence. He also ran an xray, said it looked fine. He also saw the dark around the root, proceeded to pull off the loose crown, said if the cement doesn’t hold this time due to low original tooth structure I should consider getting a implant not another crown that would just fall off repeatedly which he would refer out to for an oral surgeon not trying to make money off of me but more concerned about my over-​all health. If you have thousands of dollars you want to throw at dentists barely out of dental school, this is the place. I also canceled my (My-​Smile) health plan they charge you an additional 115 dollars for. The services are not really a major discount if you shop around. They have the machine that will mine a tooth on the spot but they aren’t the only game in town. And this is the only highlight of this place and the fact that the people at the front desk are very nice. BUYER BEWARE, bait n switch

Sad to say that it’s been such a consistently bad experience, it was worth me paying out-​of-​pocket to go elsewhere. The front desk people are super friendly and nice and deserve kudos, but the ultimate bad dental treatment is incredibly substandard. Even though they are in my network I definitely won’t be going back.
The last visit took 90 minutes for a routine cleaning which was done in 5 minutes. The doctor was jumping between patients while other employees watched. It felt like being in a fish tank experiment. Then I was a trapped patient in the chair forced to listen to a sales pitch of all the additional services I needed. When I declined the additional services I sat for 30 minutes unattended in the chair waiting for my cleaning, which never happened. So I actually left, but as I passed the doctor chatting in the hallway he stopped me & convinced me to stay. Unfortunately he did the cleaning in 5 minutes by only flossing my teeth. Huh? Seriously?! I brought the problems to their attention as I left, which they expressed appreciation, but nothing changed… except each time I went for my routine cleaning it seemed like they frequently change dentists.
I don’t totally put this on the dentist. The organizational process of the operation contributes to this dysfunctional experience.
On one of my visits prior to the one described above, I was told that I needed a crown and, of course they have the machine to do it on-​site. I was warned to not delay because of the potential risk. This was a new experience to have such a significant problem with my teeth, which caused me obvious concern. I felt it should be fixed right away, regardless of the high cost. In the interim I was cautious about how I was biting or chewing. But at my visit to another dentist after the above incident, I was told there is nothing wrong with my tooth and nothing to be concerned about or monitor.

Okay let’s start off that I am a returning patient but unfortunately the dentist that I was looking forward to no longer works here so they schedule me with dr. Winn. I been going here for awhile but I never had a problem with this office until now. I came here for regular dental cleaning and all of a sudden I have dr Winn exam my teeth and he said that I have gum disease and that I need to get deep cleaning along with other things that he added costing additional $ 500. I told him I’m going to pass because I don’t have the money right now and I will do the cleaning that insurance will cover me. What upsets me is that they won’t take no for an answer, they would try find ways to convince you to get the cleaning. This lady that cleans my teeth told me that next time if I don’t get the procedure done, they could lose their license. She was not friendly and nice at all. I told her that I was used to dr Johnson as my dentist because he took good care of me. After I said that, she defended herself and say that everybody loves her and that she’s the best at cleaning. To be honest, she seems very inexperience and does not know what she doing because she was looking at the tools like what to use first and what’s even worse she didn’t even floss my teeth because that’s part of the routine cleaning! Then in the end she ask me if I have an electronic brush at home because she was trying to sell me one. I was suppose to be scheduled with dr Winn to do some of the cleaning but he didn’t even do it after I rejected him the $ 500 procedure. Usually when I’m schedule with a dentist, they take some part of the cleaning but he avoided me and have someone do it for him. I don’t know what’s wrong with this office but the staff are rude and it’s not the same how it used to be. This office needs to be investigated! OVERALL, DON’T come here, they are really here for your money.

They are the greatest dentist in San Diego. I refer everyone to them. They are super clean and know exactly what they are doing. They are very detailed on their procedures as well. They have other sister office through out San Diego and all of them are just as great!

The only reason I am giving this office one star is because there is nothing less to give. I am furious. Buyer beware!!! They tried to use the switch and bait tactic on me. I went in for a routine cleaning and was told I needed a scaling, but after I had it I called my dentist back home and was told that I really didn’t need that type of cleaning. They said it didn’t hurt me but this office was probably just going after the insurance money because they pay more for scaling. I also wanted to discuss getting tooth color fillings as opposed to the silver ones I already had. They tried to sale me all types of options, but I went with the basic filling. We had a treatment plan in place. When I returned 2 weeks later for my fillings Dr. Winn stated he didn’t feel comfortable doing a filling and I really needed 2 crowns and an inlay. 1 crown was the price of all 7 fillings I needed. He wanted me to have 1 done and then return later for more dental work the more he talked the more the price increased. I took a day off of work to have this done only to have nothing done. Dr. Winn was the dentist that agreed to the fillings at my original appointment and then he stated that he took another look at my x-​rays and decided against it. Shouldn’t he have been sure the first time we made a treatment plan. Use this dentist at your own risk. In addition they charged me card for the entire procedure at my original date, then when I returned they had failed to document this in my chart and wanted to charge me again. Now they have to credit my account and up to an hour after my visit they still had not credited my account. I would love to have this office investigated, because their business practices are not professional and are sketchy.

I am writing this review because I do not want other people to go through what I went through.
I had a filling and a crown done at this place. The dentist is very efficient, nice and understanding. I loved the treatment I received as I was going through the process of the crown and the filling. I visited them 4 times. The office with the TV makes the time go by fast as they were working on my teeth.
The problem I had to suffer through is that I have insurance, however, they billed me instead. I called to follow up, and TABATHA worked with me to solve the situation and she is not an honest person with no customer service skills. She kept promising to call me back to let me know what happened with the bill and why I received it vs my insurance and she never calls back. She is very disorganized and does not know what she is doing. This situation has been going on for 2 months now.
My advice, make sure that you make sure you communicate with them all the time re billing because they are not efficient!

Went in for today a root canal on a referral and am extremely happy with the experience-​except the expected pain part of course. :)
The receptionists were friendly and knowledgeable! And the X-​ray tech was a nice young lady. Even the young man who assisted was super friendly.
Dr DelJouli took the time to sit and explain what needed to be done and why. It turned out to be more complicated than expected and when I had questions he looked me in eye and listened and gave a relative answer. Very professional.
And finally their office is clean, well lit, and comfortable. Did I mention clean? They have immediate x-​ray results and even make their crowns on site.
Overall I would recommend Mission Valley Dentists and based on this experience I’ll be seeing them again.

Best in the business, Dr. Babak Ariannejad was amazing! Everything was explained crystal clear and was done in the most professional manner I could have expected I highly recommend that anyone who needs anything done go to this office

This office can be somewhat difficult to book with (at least if you want an evening appointment), but you can instantly tell why. They are truly a wonderful office. Very clean space, super friendly staff, and a great team of dentists and assistants. Every time I have been in I am greeted instantly, brought back as soon as possible, and seen on time. The dentists have always been great at explaining everything to me and ensuring that I am comfortable.

AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS!
The first time I went to this office was with Dr. Dulac 6 months prior (I go to my appointments regularly and never miss one). The appointment took over 4 hours to complete and by the time I got out it was after 8 and dark outside. During the appointment he continually kept trying to sell me an electronic toothbrush. Over and over again I told him no and that I already have one that I don’t use at home. Why would I want to spend another few hundred dollars on another?! Yet he kept pushing me. Then they gave me teeth cleaning that was rougher than normal and had my gums inflamed for the next few days probably because I did not want to buy their toothbrush. After the appointment their office manager called me based on the office review I gave them and apologized and said that he has had other complaints that they could set me up with a «better» dentist and the owner, Dr. Aria. She said Dr. Dulac no longer works there so I decided to give them one more chance… HUGE MISTAKE!
This past time I went they told me that I had to get a root canal and after asking a few questions, Dr. Aria told me that the previous dentist Dr. Dulac missed it, figures… Originally they gave me a quote and said that it would be the same for metal or porcelain crowns, then when I took off from work and was already at the appointment told me it would be higher for porcelain and they quoted me wrong. They also told me that it was a one day appointment for any crown of my choice, wrong information again. At this point I was so frustrated Dr. Aria came in an tried to convince me of the cheaper metal crown (probably because he didn’t want to lose money off of the porcelain one). At this time I told him my concerns with metal because another dentist told me it could leave tattooing, which could later cause gum surgery. He brushed it off like it was no big deal. The other issue I had was that I wear retainers and they said that I would need to go to my orthodontist again to get new ones, which would be an additional $ 350 OR I could get a blue block crown that would be almost $ 800 dollars! What a rip off. They just want the money from it and don’t do what is the best option for the patient. I believe they’ve been having other issues because it sounded like the insurance company was have trouble with them as well.
At first everyone seems nice but now looking back it all seems like a façade or a cover up for incompetence. Quotes are invalid, cavities missed, all they want and care about is the money they make from patients. I will never go to this dentist office again. I feel very disrespected, upset, and frustrated to say the least.

I had a filling randomly disappear and had a big hole in one of my molars. I have a part time job and no benefits but needed an emergency dental visit. I was In Mission Valley and remembered seeing this dental office so I thought I would see if they had any special deals of fixing my issue.
I went inside and was warmly greeted and a dentist saw me 5 minutes later.
The tooth was in bad shape and I needed a root canal. I signed up for «My Smile Dental Plan» that cut some of the cost.
$ 1,900 total cost for this new tooth and they did a full exam with ex rays.
I like that they were every professional and super nice. I have had bad experiences at other places but this place was great and near my house. I need to go home and rest after that. I plan on going back soon to have more work done.

This office, their staff, the visit I just had was awesome.
The staff is young and professional and really relatable. They didn’t push anything on me and worked with me to make my visit go as easily as possible. The doctor was kind and the technician was gentle on my teeth (I didn’t feel like I was at a butcher’s shop at all). Plus, they have state of the art tools so x-​rays and cleanings go by really fast. They also have TV’s in every room for anyone who needs thourough distraction while sitting in the chair.
My teeth feel great and I would recommend this dentist to anyone!

I am a tourist from Australia and had a bad experience at this place. I came here after reading the reviews (the good ones obviously). Sadly, I now fit in the bad review section! Lol. After reading the other 1 star reviews, I don’t feel alone. I left with an awful feeling of being taken advantage of and bewilderment that a business can be run like that.
Everything started out great, customer service was professional, albeit insincere… After the check up the finance lady came in and gave me a sales spill that I’ll need 7 grand worth of work done but if I buy a $ 130 discount card I would get it for 4 grand, and she definitely recommends it (a no brainer right?). Anyway, one of the suggestions was to upgrade to the top standard cleaning, to get in under my gums (totally understandable) and it will be 600 plus dollars (don’t have it now)… plus lots of extras… I appreciated they explained everything to me and that’s that.
They said I need the full clean, and sent me out to pay. Minus a teeth clean. I paid the 60 dollars and didn’t feel right, I walked outside to re read the sign (my girlfriend booked it for me so I wanted to be sure they offer teeth cleaning with the deal) and I came back in and asked why I don’t get my teeth clean. They said I need the upgraded one. I said the ad is misleading, and can I still get the standard teeth cleaning until I do the upgraded one if I chose to. The lady at the desk counter started giving me reasons why I need the upgraded one, but still didn’t acknowledge that I am still entitled to a regular teeth cleaning. She spoke to me very condescendingly (the worst part) and said along the lines of, if you just want shiny teeth then ok we can do it for you, patronizing tone and look, while I’m in shock that this is happening.
Bottom line is, I paid for a teeth clean and check up. I expect a teeth clean and check up. If it is just a check up and recommendation of what I need to do then I will pay for just a check up. I asked the dentist, what will benefit me now:
*I leave today with NO teeth clean and come back for upgraded teeth clean
or
*I get a teeth clean now and come back for my upgraded teeth clean
She agreed the latter.
So why are we arguing about this!
I finally got my «teeth cleaned» and I am not exaggerating when I say she blasted through it in 5 minutes! I have been getting my teeth cleaned 3 to 4 times a year for years… and usually it takes around 45 minutes. When she started I was about to stop her and say don’t worry about it, please! I had had enough … but it was over before I knew it.
There were a few more little extra annoyances, little nibbles that if I mention sound trivial but when I look at it on a whole it compounds my feeling of being treated badly.
All in all, I feel it’s the business system and incentives they have in place to see people as how much money they can extract and all about the sales. They used sales techniques I read from book years ago, which I don’t believe work. The customer knows when something is not genuine.
Anyway, I hope I can make someone more aware and just do your research and ask and be clear what you are getting with these guys.
They have misleading and confusing information to serve in their benefit not yours.

Read that a couple times, understand that caries mean cavities. Understand then I spent weeks of time with these people getting my teeth «fixed.»

With so many Dentists to choose from it is quite a task to find the right one. I am so happy my Husband’s research led me to Mission Valley Dentists. If you are in need I highly recommend this office.
Like most people I don’t look forward to trips to the dentists office. but it is different here and I trust them to take the best care of me with the least amount of pain.
Dr. Aria is such a nice and caring dentist. it is quite a difference from my previous experiences.
Karen the Operations Manager makes this office even better. From the first visit she has gone above and beyond to make me comfortable here… she is so nice!!. She is also very organized and professional. She goes over all the treatments that you need in a detailed manner.
As a bonus. it is in the same shopping center that has the CVS and Ralphs that I shop at. and Starbucks!
I am so happy to have found Mission Valley Dentists!

First let’s start when you walk in, the waiting room is clean and organized, this isn’t your typical dental office, everything is clean and we’ll maintained, they only use the latest technology when crating your teeth, and the staff. Oh where to begin, first their was Russia the receptionist, she help me get all signed in and the wait was no longer than 5 mins from the time I walked in the door to the time of seeing my dentist. Dr. Aria (don’t know how to spell his name) was courteous and professional, and his dental assistant Ashley was amazing, she made sure I felt comfortable and she always make sure if I needed anything while they check on my insurance. It’s a breathe of fresh air when you walk in to a dentist that actually care about you.
Oh did I mention the tv I have with a remote in the exam room? I guess I didn’t but their is one :) it is amazing
