History

Established in 1993.

Lumber Liquidators (NYSE: LL) began in 1993 when Tom Sullivan, a building contractor, began purchasing excess wood that other companies didn’t need and reselling it from the back of a trucking yard in Stoughton, Massachusetts. The company found its niche market in hardwood flooring. The first store opened on January 5, 1996 in West Roxbury, Massachusetts selling 150 sq ft of flooring the first day. Eight months later, a second store opened in Hartford, Connecticut and from there the increase continued.

Lumber Liquidators negotiates directly with the mills, eliminating the middleman and passing the savings on to the customers. The environmentally conscientious company only purchases from suppliers who practice sustainable harvesting, which allows forests to heal and re-​grow faster. Everything Lumber Liquidators sells (unless specified otherwise) is first-​quality, graded to industry specifications, and available in standard flooring lengths.

No matter how much money you might think you are saving it is not worth it.
The customer service from the beginning was absent at best, we installed the dark bamboo flooring and after a year in a half it has shrunk and pulled away from the corner round exposing huge gaps in the cement base floor.
I went to the store and they offered to give us more corner round which made no sense because the corner round wouldn’t cover the huge gap the shrinking had created no furhter help told us to call Customer Service and the installers.
Neither took responsibility and after multiple phone calls and emails, submitting a 5 page information request from Customer Service they offered a new box of flooring which again did not resolve the problem. It would have cost us thousands of dollars to tear out the floor and install one new box of flooring. The small amount of money you might be saving on the cost of the product is not worth the aggrivation and poor quality of the product, installation and customer service.

I just bought 150 sq foot of high quality vinyl flooring for $ 103… how amazing is that? The staff were very helpful and the store has lots of flooring to choose from. I would definitely go back when I want some hardwood flooring.

These guys are great! Came in looking for stairs and viola, they found me the best most beautiful looking stairs for half the price. I couldn’t even DIY this project cheaper. My house looks custom and people are raving left and right about how nice the stairs look. I owe it to lumber liquidators! Customer service there is also outstanding, when I purchased my stairs my car was full so they waited for me to come back and helped me arrange everything into my vehicle. Again 5 stars, I’m definitely shopping there again.

I purchased flooring from Lumber Liquidators for my entire home (3000 sq. feet), the floors are beautiful. The cost was much less than their competitors and the quality was far superior. I would recommend Lumber Liquidators to anyone! The salespeople were very kind and helpful from start to finish, Lea and Jonathan especially.

I have been needing to shop for laminate for my hallway. I stopped by this store on a Saturday afternoon not knowing very much about laminate and I was immediately greeted by Lea and the friendly staff. I looked around and found a couple of samples I liked. She then helped me pick one I loved and it was actually cheaper than the posted price with all qualifications I needed. She was very friendly and helpful and I appreciated her educating me on laminates. The check out process was easy and they loaded my car carefully.
While laying the floor, I had not purchased enough and needed a couple of more pieces. I called this store to see if they had it at the San Marcos store. The gentleman looked up my order and he was able to see they did. I went over to the San Marcos store and I was helped by Makayla. She was also very cheerful and helped me with transition pieces I still needed to purchase at a big savings.
The floor is down and it looks great, I am a very happy customer and I would recommend both of these stores.

Love this store. I had a burn on the floor and needed one box to replace it. I spoke to Steven and he told me that he had a box. About 10 minutes later he called me back, even though I did not leave my number, and told me that he went to the warehouse to look and he could not find the one box that the computer showed. Told me Chula Vista had a box I could pick up he next morning. AMAZING customer service. Thank you.

BUYER BEWARE!!! READ THE GUARANTEE BEFORE YOU ORDER YOUR FLOOR!!! Then go to a reputable dealer who has better protection for you. The flooring I purchased had 3 different sheens and since it came from stock on hand, I suspect the flooring was from mixed lots. The flooring looks like a patchwork quilt. It has raised edges and seams are separating which is a trip hazard.
In order for the 50 year guarantee to be valid I would have had to inspect each piece of flooring before installation with 4 installers working on the floor at the same time which was an 8 hour job. Lumber Liquidators took no responsibility for their faulty merchandise. I’ve never been so disappointed in a vendor.

BAIT and SWITCH
Went on their website and saw a selection of engineered products in the two dollar range. A chat session popped up and I asked bout inventory and was told 1400 square feet were in stock at the Miramar store.
Upon arrival the only employee is the showroom pronounced she was on her lunch hour. and couldn’t help me. A gentleman arrived and while not at all rude, he didn’t seem all that interested in making anything happen. He said that all the lower priced offerings that were on the website were long sold out. He showed me some things that started at about double the price.
Huge waste of time. However, when driving out of the strip center I saw a warehouse across the street with a sign that said «hardwood flooring». Please see my reviews on California Flooring and Design.

We have purchased from this store on 4 occasions for 4 different houses, but never again. Consistent with other reviewers’ experience, they definitely oversold the bamboo flooring. It buckled during high humidity and part of the finish came off a couple of the boards post-​installation. We had lousy support from Lumber Liquidators (locally and at their headquarters) when we asked them to remedy the finish issue — they only offered a nominal credit. Do not expect that the warranty to be of any help to you if you have an issue with their products.

Our first experience at Lumber Liquidators was surprisingly awesome. They have a good amount of samples plus large sections installed as their flooring so you get a really good idea of how the floors would look in your home. The best experience came from their assistant store manager Leah, she’s extremely knowledgeable and though it was near closing she was very gracious with her time. She didn’t rush us out the door, even though she knew we weren’t ordering that day. As this is our first time doing flooring, she made this process painless. One of the better customer experiences we’ve ever had. We definitely recommend giving them a look.

If you want a hassle free experience when looking for wood flooring… Lumber liquidators Miramar Road is where you want to go. When you get there, ask for LEA EVANS, She is the best When it to comes to customer service and customer satisfaction!!! Lumber liquidators has a huge selection of real wood and laminate flooring. As a contractor I’ve been dealing at lumber liquidators for years and I take all my clients there, and haven’t found a reason not to go back yet! Remember ask for LEA, she is the best!

I ordered some solid hardwood for my kitchen, great room, stairs, and office. My order was somewhat complicated but they took care of me. Part of my order was due for store pickup, and when the arrival date got pushed back, they paid to Fedex it to my house. The salesperson Lea is outstanding. She helped me every step of the way, including picking out the wood (Hazelnut Acacia), which I absolutely love. Great experience all around.

Had a great experience with Leah and all her staff !! We traveled from Yuma, AZ and to two different places before finding this location and couldn’t have been happier to. From initial visit to delivery, Leah was on top of things !! Like a boss !!! Had to return some extra material that we didn’t need and exchange for other and once again Leah to the rescue !! We were very impressed with her courtesy, great attitude, professionalism and willingness to help us in all aspects of our order, 1500 square feet worth! Highly HIGHLY recommend Lumber Liquidators at this location. Talk to our girl Leah !! She’s beyond awesome and she’ll take care of you !!

We went into the store and found a strand bamboo that we loved. The salesperson was very helpful about all of the positive aspects of the product. He totally failed to tell us that strand bamboo is extremely sensitive to moisture and humidity and at the very least the installation guidelines must be followed to the letter. As a result we are having to replace 1,000 sq ft of flooring because it buckled and cupped within six months of installation on our concrete slab. When we filed a claim they said that we had to hire a flooring inspector to verify the installation. Of course he found that it was not installed per instructions. However, he and 3 other flooring professionals we have consulted since said that strand bamboo cannot be safely installed on a concrete slab in San Diego county. They all fail due to the slightest bit of moisture. Remember the old saying if it is too good to be true (price and the salesman’s enthusiasm) it must not be true. We’ll never shop here again.

DO NOT SHOP AT LUMBER LIQUIDATORS. They sold us that cancerous material just days before 60 minutes came out with their investigation. I bought 12 boxes of material and then found out about the health hazard. We did not use the material and purchased the wood at costco. If you smell the laminate from costco, it smells like wood. The lumber liquidators wood smells like chemicals. My wife called the store and told them about the smell and the lady said, «Oh yeah thats the formaldehyde you are smelling». If you can smell it, it must be a health risk. I went to return the wood and they were rude and uncooperative. Only gave me a partial refund, but at least my family’s health is not at risk. Their stocks are falling and i hope they go out of business for putting everyone’s health at risk for a dollar.

So far I had a great experience with LL on Mira Mar Rd. I walked into the store, and right away was greeted by a girl working there. She was very patient with me and educated me on different flooring option. The staff has been always nice and friendly. They were able to modify my order over the phone and adjust the price when the Bamboo I had ordered went on sale for $.30/​sqft cheaper.
