Dog Gone Walkin

We have been using David Wright’s pet sitting and walking services intermittently for several years. We have an older pit bull who is obstinate on walks and a younger pit bull (2 years old) who is just the opposite and always raring to go. We have come to rely on David and he’s been great about accommodating last minute requests if he can possibly make room in his busy schedule. He’s great with both people and dogs and I never ever worry about my dogs when they’re in David’s hands. David is also 100% reliable. My dogs love him and that’s all that’s really important.

David is amazing. I moved to San Diego less than a year ago with two very different pups. He started pet sitting for me during a quick work trip and has been my go-​to ever since. My dogs love him and I feel like I never have to worry about them when I’m out of town. This is my very first Unilocal review but I wanted to share what a pleasant experience it has been working with David. He is accommodating and reliable and genuinely cares about my pets — I couldn’t ask for more!

David walks my Bowie twice a week and is always great with communication and reliability. He keeps us updated on potty breaks and is flexible with our schedules. David is willing to incorporate commands we are working on too. He’s been a life saver during our first puppy experience. Bowie says, «good job!»

You know what my mom never taught me? When you have three dogs, one of which is a 150 –lb *dog-​aggressive* Great Dane, your friends are wary to dogsit for you. Who knew?
Enter David! I had mentioned to a friend that my partner and I were taking a weekend trip, and my friend recommended David to us. I called (or texted?) him, and arranged for him to come over and meet our animal family. He was great with all of our animals (three dogs and two cats at the time) and we asked him to come by twice a day while we were gone to love on and feed our animal crew for us. David was great, communicative, and he even sent me a couple of pictures of the dogs while were away. I am a sucker for that sort of customer service. I highly recommend Dog Gone Walkin!

David is great, and I highly recommend his services. He has been watching my bulldog for about 3 years now, Monday through Friday. Bulldogs are very high maintenance, slow walkers that require patience, and David does an excellent job taking care of him.
He has always been available last minute, too, which I greatly appreciate.
If he can fit you and your dog in his schedule, you ought to strongly consider using his service.

Just an update to say that David is still my hero! I have needed him several times, a few times on zero notice, and he’s been wonderful. I was in Europe for a week and I was able to text David and communicated about my dogs the whole time. He’s the best best best. Trust your dog to David, he’s the real deal.

If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you love your furry friend and want them to have a great time even when you can’t be around… well look no further, David is your man.
No, I’m serious, don’t even bother reading any more reviews, because he is amazing.
The first time I required his services, I called him last minute and needed a walk same-​day, which he was completely cool with. I left a key under my mat, and ever since then, he’s been my dog’s best friend when I can’t be there.
I also love that he took the time to come over to my house and meet me in person, and even gave me a run-​down of what he does with my dog Beans when he visits. He had such a great understanding of her personality, and little Beans greeted him with such happiness when he came to the door– so nice to see!
I am a COMPLETELY neurotic parent and make all kinds of requests (I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I even asked if he would send picture messages of my pooch) — and he happily obliged!
I also requested that he walk my pooch with another dog so that she has someone to play with, and sure enough, he has another client who lives right down the street. Getting pictures of the two dogs playing absolutely makes my day! When I’m bored at work, I can be confident that my dog is well taken care of.

A couple of months ago my mom was hospitalized and unable to walk her 2 young, energetic dogs. My boyfriend and I were able to briefly walk them after work, but with hectic schedules we both realized that they needed more exercise than we could give them. A friend recommended Dog Gone Walkin and once we met David, we knew we made the right decision to use his services –mostly because the dogs immediately loved him! And they know good souls when they smell them :)
My mom is out of the hospital and in recovery, but she continues to use David’s services because the dogs are calmer and maintaining a healthy weight. We’ve realized that some of their behavior issues were most likely caused by excess energy. Even though she walked them every day they clearly needed more. David takes them for hour long walks around the neighborhood three times a week and twice to a dog park or dog beach to socialize them.
David is reliable, patient and trustworthy. He truly cares and develops special bonds with dogs he walks. I highly recommend David and Dog Gone Walkin. If Gus and Ruby could speak English I’m sure they’d say the same thing :)

I don’t think I’ve written a review on Unilocal before, so that alone should show you how impressed I was with Dog Gone Walking. I already had a daily walking service that I was using, but I needed someone to do a Pet Sitting job for me while I was out of the country in May… and because I was going to be without cell phone or email service, I needed this person to be extremely reliable and trustworthy. As a good pet owner should, I did some research (including my own daily walking service) for availability, price, services [because I needed this to cover both my dog (Rambo) and my cat (Patsy)] and reputation. Well… this all led me to Dog Gone Walking, and I’m glad it did… David did an excellent job and it made my vacation all the more relaxing because I didn’t worry about the home-​front at all!
Before I left for my trip, David made a point of coming to my house 2 TIMES to review our daily/​weekly/​monthly routine to make sure both Rambo and Patsy got all the care they need (including their flea treatments as scheduled). Of course, the second visit was sort of my idea in order to make sure I was totally comfortable with the plan, but he pleasantly accommodated this request. Upon returning home, I found everything exactly as it should be… happy pets and all! I even had a full report of their activity… they had almost as much fun while I was on vacation as I did!!!
Dog Gone Walking doesn’t advertise much, so they build their client list by recommendations, word of mouth, and by being in the dog-​walking community. So, you will often notice someone sporting their T-​shirt advertisement at Morley Field dog park, Coronado Dog Beach, or any number of other dog-​friendly venues… I know this because I see them often!
The next time I need pet sitting (or even a substitute daily walker), I won’t have to do any research because Dog Gone Walking has my vote… actually, they have three votes from my home: me, Rambo and Patsy!

My husband and I recently went on vacation for a week, leaving our two dogs alone for the very first time. I was really anxious about it because one dog, Broccoli, is a timid, gentle soul who was likely abused before we adopted her, and I thought she might have a total meltdown without us. The other dog, Mike, just joined our family a couple months ago (also a rescue), and he is the exact opposite — fearless, assertive, destructive, super smart (can open doors and his crate), and a talented jumper (can get on top of the fridge). We’re having some success with training, but it’s a slow process. Needless to say, I was a little concerned that the house might burn down while we were gone.
Enter David. He came by about a month before our trip just to meet the dogs and see the house. He contacted me again about a week and a half before we left and we arranged a time for him to come by to pick up the key and go over any last minute instructions.
He stayed at our house the entire time we were gone, which is exactly what we wanted — someone to move in, take care of the furry monsters, and hold down the fort. He even indulged the neurotic parent in me and sent me daily email updates. That gave me so much piece of mind, I can’t even begin to tell you…
When we arrived home, everything was exactly as we left it. It was remarkable. And the dogs were happy. Which means we were happy.
