***BULLY ALERT***
I’m updating my review to show you exactly what I am talking about. After I posted my original review, I was contacted 3 times, all speak/​show the points mentioned, their horrible professionalism, their indescribably bad communication, narcissism, and now add flat out BULLYING me to change my review to their resume. I am attaching PICTURE PROOF, if it gets taken down, I have over a month of other conversations that speak to all these points as well where I have no problem showing or explaining to people that want to contact me individually.
First: Unprofessionalism and bad communication, the day after my initial review I received an email that says «What’s your cell number buddy…» And that’s it. I knew where it was going so didn’t respond. Note: It is at the end of a long email chain of over a month of back and forth conversations which have my name and contact info in it; my name isn’t ‘buddy’
Second: Egotistical, unyielding, always right, you’re wrong, frat mentality. As I said I didn’t respond to the first email, so they followed up with a second email stating I didn’t understand, they communicated what they could and couldn’t do, and basically I am completely at fault. Well… First off, I wrote how they do this in my first review and they reacted exactly how I said they do. They said they made ‘new’ drawings from existing models, well, if they are existing, how do you think the created them in the first place, do the math here. I have an email spelling out exactly what I wanted, down to the smallest detail, even attached 2 pictures!!! It was impossible to misinterpret! IMPOSSIBLE! So they knew they couldn’t do it exactly right off the bat and wanted more money to actually do work, well, the quote was for that ‘extra work’ in the first place, they just tried to get out cheap and dodge. Then they wanted me to remove my review… HOW MANY OTHER REVIEWS DO YOU THINK THEY AFFECTED IF THEY DID THIS TO ME.
Last: Intimidation and bullying! I received a private message from a «Sandy B» in La Jolla, literally antagonizing and name calling me! Look at her page; she has never reviewed anything from the business! Again, do the math here, someone associated personally! I mean her insults are so juvenile it’s comical; however, it speaks to bullying and detracts from the integrity of the review process with the intimidation!
So, as with my last review… If you want to subjugate yourself to this BEWARE and BE PREPARED because this is the kind of place you are dealing with… SHADY! My next stop now because of this will be to report them higher in general because the bullying and intimidation.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! — THEY WALKED AWAY FROM A JOB INSTEAD OF MAKING IT RIGHT — I normally don’t write negative reviews unless I am absolutely forced by an experience that still gives me nightmares. Sadly speaking, working with DC concrete has been a very poor experience. Back in August 2015, I started remodeling my kitchen by stripping it down to bare walls. My wife and I invested a lot of time and energy in going for something modern, top of the line, best of the best. Basically we put in 50k in the project. Because we wanted a modern look, after a lot of research, we decided to go with concrete countertops even though it was going to cost us more than granite and siltstone.
It all started well. We went to their showroom in Pacific Beach, talked to Chris and the other guys, picked out the shade we wanted. While there even decided to get an integrated concrete sink made as well by them. A few days later they came down for measurements and discussing how the install would work with the contractor. We agreed on a quote. All good at this point.
On the day of the install, they arrived on time. The kitchen was prepped up by the contractor for their install. Lo and behold, counters arrive in two different shades. Two distinctly different shades! But Chris and his guys assured us, its because some of the slabs were still wet and the shade will get fixed in a few weeks. They installed, sealed it and left. After they left, we noticed the edges and corners where the counters meet the wall had gaping holes that they hadn’t filled up.
We paid DC concrete for work completed except for the last install which we agreed would be paid once the counters are finally sealed all in one shade. A month later counters were still different shades. And all kinds of scratches were surfacing all over the counters. They looked like someone was using the kitchen counters for commercial use… that’s how worn out and used the counters looked even though we were barely using the kitchen it as it was not complete.
After endless phone calls and emails, someone from DC concrete showed up saying it was a shame the counters were two different shades and it didn’t seem like we would get our original shade but they would try to fix it. This was in beginning of October. In December, after chasing them, they finally scheduled us for a date and time to come to take a look at it again but left a voicemail to say they couldn’t make it and will reschedule.
Its February 2016 now and we have not heard back from them. We have left endless messages but no response. Now my $ 50K newly remodeled kitchen has two shades of counters with scratches that appear out of nowhere. The concrete sink looks a disaster and the rest of the countertops have unfinished edges. These guys have walked away from the unfinished job and all attempts to get in touch with DC Concrete have failed.

We did 2 fireplace surrounds with these guys and they came out great. Exactly what we expected and then some. Yes they are busy but they get the job done and in a timely manner. I would work with them again.

I had them make a fire pit top, the first one had a bad side that they tried to repair but looked terrible, the agreed to make a second top which actually looked worse than the first, very discolored (almost like an animal print). I understand concrete has variations in colors but this was way beyond normal. My very experienced contractor agreed that it looked terrible. DC would not make it right, and I ended up having to paint it, which is not the look I was seeking. They did not stand behind their work.

These guys do a great job and have pride in their work. They built a customized fire table for me and did exactly what they said they would do and more. I’ll be back again.

I am upgrading my review as D C Concrete. They have now responded to our issue and have agreed to fix the cracks by the end of January — but if you do a floor talk to them about cracks ahead of time and make sure the sub floor joints are prepared properly (our contractor did the sub floor DC did not) and that there is a plan in advance fir fixing it. Also perhaps avoid dark colors as water and soap show up strongly (same as dark tile) or granite.
The cast concrete counter and window surround came out really nice and I would recommend DC for this type of project.
We had a shower and bathroom floor along with a vanity counter made and installed by DC concrete. I love the color and style of the concrete and was thrilled when it was installed BUT — Our floor has developed large cracks along the sub floor tape lines less than 6 months after installation. I have called and emailed to get someone out to look at this and address it but cannot get them to come out. The last communication — more than three months ago — they said they would get to it when they could. I cannot get them to respond at all. I really want to recommend them but this unresponsiveness to what I consider a big issue is really disappointing.

I had a hearth made up for my fireplace with little tile accents and it turned out better than I had imagined. The detailed work was perfected and Chris was extremely helpful and easy to work with. I will definitely be using them for my next project.

DC Custom Concrete did a fantastic job on our fireplace re-​do. It’s owned by 2 guys, Derin and Chris. I was dealing mainly with Derin. He was thorough, the installation went seamlessly, which means his measurements were perfect the 1^st time.
He and Chris are very attentive to what you want, meaning they know how to listen, which is not always a given. They met their deadline and they are all around a great team. Professional, friendly and very talented in their chosen specialty.
I highly recommend DC Custom Concrete.
