I moved into Centre Pointe apartments when I first located from Tucson, Az. I relocated for my work and after owning my home in Tucson for 30 yrs. I was nervous going into apartment living. Michelle, the asst. manager was very helpful with my initial move-​in. There were delays with my employment relocation paperwork and Michelle worked with me on every delay. She really helped decrease my stress. My experience here at Centre Pointe has been wonderful. Don’t know if I could say enough about the place but I will try. Usually don’t write reviews but I just renewed my lease and feel that I should share my experience. I love the place. I initially leased a studio and just renewed it on a one bedroom apartment. I looked around but could not convince myself there was some place better than Centre Pointe. It has everything. First the location. It has the garden view. You walk out of your apartment and you are outside. It is perfect. There are other places in the neighborhood but you have to walk out of your apartment, walk down the hall, take an elevator to the ground floor before you get outside. It is more like a hotel living and not for me. The name «Centre Pointe» says it all. It is in the center of everything. Fashion Valley Mall, the largest mall in San Diego is just up the road, lots of stores and restaurants. Costco, Trader Joe’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, 2 Starbucks are only minutes away just to mention a few. A lot of other retail stores but that is just to mention a few. They YMCA is walking distance. A great place to work out. The trolley station is located within walking distance from the apartments. There is a Police Station just down the road too. I feel very safe here. I frequently get up in the middle of the night to walk my dog and have no problem doing so. The grounds are well lite and there is usually a security guard patrolling at that time. My neighbors are great too. There is a mix of all ages, professionals, young and older, young couples and some military. I had never had any problems with late night partying. Everyone is friendly. I usually get into a conversation with someone when I am out walking my dog. They grounds are well kept. They are always doing the landscaping, i.e. cutting the grass, trimming trees, and emptying trash cans. The place looks beautiful. I even had the owners of the condos up the street comment on how nice Centre Pointe is maintained. Last but not least, you have the «Centre Pointe Team» They are great! They make the place. There is Simona, Michelle, Ivy and Jose. There are a few others and I am sorry I can’t remember their names right now. They are always friendly and more than willing to help. Never had a bad experience with anyone of them. They go above and beyond their duty. They keep the residents well informed with the monthly newsletter. They are always putting on some type of events for the residents each month. They have done breakfast, wine and cheese parties at the pool, and even cooking classes with Brad, a local Chef. Last Friday the four of them were at the both entrances to Centre Pointe giving a lunch bag on your way out to work. Now how special is that? They were up at the crack of dawn to do so. They recently redid the pool area and there is a beach party today 12−3pm. Sorry I am going to miss it cause I’m working but I am sure it will be fun just like the other events. Simona knew I was looking for a one bedroom apartment and she kept me informed when they came available. Ivy always answers my questions and has follow through on all my requests. Michelle assisted me in letting someone into my apartment when I was stuck at work so my dog could get walked. She is great. She lives on site which is a good thing and says a lot about the place too. I only called the emergency off tour hotline twice in the last 13 months. I get prompt call backs no matter what time it is. I have to say I was impressed with Jose when he came over my apartment on New Years Eve to change out the batteries on the smoke detectors when they started alarming. The day before that, he assisted me when I shorted out the electricity and had to reset the circuit breaker. I think I covered it. I guess you can tell I love the place and very satisfied living here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, well kept place to call home.

We have lived at CentrePointe for almost 2 years now, and we absolutely love it! We have been in their one bedroom floor plan and will be moving into a two bedroom very soon. Two years ago we lived in Arizona and I was so stressed about organizing a move across states and moving into a place I hadn’t even seen in person, but our leasing agent Michele was amazing and even sent me pictures from inside our new place! The move was very smooth and hassle free. Fast forward to now and we still love it here, it is in the center of everything San Diego, right next to Fashion Valley Mall (including their Trolley station). The apartments are upgraded, include air conditioning AND and in unit washer and dryer, and are very pet friendly! We love walking our two pugs around the complex, they even have a little dog park. I always feel safe even walking them at midnight before bed. Parking is also great compared to other complexes in the area, we get two parking decals for our cars and one visitor pass for guests. There are always plenty of places to park, anytime day or night! Great pools, tons of BBQs, and they even host events for the residents. The one thing missing is a gym area, but I have heard that is in the works too. We hope we can stay for a long time to come :)

My husband and I moved in after the renovations, and thought it to good to be true. Everything is updated, dogs are allowed (with a hefty deposit nonetheless), and the overall complex is maintained very well. The staff are okay as well, the first person we dealt with had a family emergency and afterwards we’ve had to talk to someone who wasn’t as nice, for lack of better words.
However, a couple months in, numerous construction projects (dealing with plumbing and shutting it off for hours etc), having to park across the complex if you have a second car or risk it getting towed, and getting double charged for rent, just isn’t my cup of tea. I understand apartment complexes are always changing and trying to keep up, but again not my cup of tea. I don’t think I’ll renew or lease when it comes time to.
Edit: The paper thin walls also allow you to hear the ridiculous noise the plumbing makes at various hours of the day and night.

I’ve lived in Centre Pointe for a year, and we really love it here. The units are nicely updated, especially the kitchen, with sharp cabinets, countertops, and backsplash. The amenities are great. the pool is clean with plenty of chairs, there’s multiple bbqs for residents to use for free, 2 firepits, and even a putting green. Management is very friendly and helpful, Michelle and Simona are awesome. Jose and the maintenance staff are amazing. any (minor) issue we had was resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. Overall, you won’t find a better value in Mission Valley.

I lived at Centre Point for a year in 2015 before relocating to the Bay Area. I simply loved living there with my dog. The interiors are new and contemporary in design. The landscaping is beautiful and well maintained. It felt like a resort hotel. The office staff and maintenance crew are very friendly and accommodating. They responded quickly to a couple of minor service requests I had. The community was quiet and the residents were nice. The apartments were centrally located, close to the beaches, the freeways and downtown. I miss living there!

I lived at Centre Pointe for the last year and I can truly say it was an awesome place to live. Very nice apartments with beautifully updated kitchens. The community was very quiet. Though you don’t get an assigned parking space, there was never an issue finding parking. There is also plenty of guest parking, though it was located on the far end of the complex away from my apartment. I really enjoyed my year living here. If I had to complain about one thing, it was that I didn’t love my apartment facing Friars Road. If I could do it again, and I absolutely would live at Centre Pointe again, I would pick one of the apartments that faces the interior of the complex.

First off Centre pointe has been our home for more than 3 years now! My boyfriend and I were looking for something in the central area of San Diego and came across this place! It had been our first complex to view and thank God we did, cause it became our last! The apartments are spacious, newer remodeled with hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, washer and dryer in unit which is always a major plus and great views to the out door gardens. Don’t even get me started on the pool area, always so clean and quiet, we bbq and sit at the fire pit at least once a week to relax and enjoy! We’re pretty much obsessed:) there are also food trucks, Sunday brunches, and wine and cheese meat ups at the pool area also cooking classes! So great! It is extremely quiet here even on the weekends which we also enjoy!
Second amazingness, is the staff, we LOVE Michele! She is energetic, extremely friendly, easy to talk to, very knowledgable with anything you will need/​want to know, and has a great smile:) she is our go to girl for sure and never lets us down! The rest of the staff is also great! The maintenance crew are always on point with there work, they very much respect your privacy and are always willing to help when needed! We can not say enough about Centre Pointe! My boyfriend and I plan on living in this community for a very long time! The only thing we could ask for is a small gym one day! But other than that pure happiness:))))

I remember living here when it was called «The Bluffs II» back in 2006 – 2007. Looks like they are still being managed by Essex Property Trust but the name has changed. I can see why considering the condos next door are called «The Bluffs».
The apartments there at the time were decent and served their purpose. The one thing that really upset me more than anything was the manager (Auren Ednalino) who used to work there. I told her that I was driving my second vehicle (which was kept offsite) since my primary car was in the shop and that I didn’t have a sticker on my second car. Auren told me that she would communicate that to security and that my car would be safe. Sure enough when I got up to leave for work the next morning, my Ford Mustang was gone. I found out that it had been towed. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Not only did it cost me $ 300 to get the car back but I had to take the day off of work and have a friend drive me to a tow yard in El Cajon to get it. When I contacted the regional manager, she met with Auren and I and as expected, Auren denied everything! Things did not go in my favor and since the lease was coming up for renewal, I gave my notice and moved out. I had considered taking Essex Property Trust to court at the time but it would have cost more than it was worth to fight it. Think twice before moving to this place and make sure to always get things in writing from management!
Piece of advice to management is to write things down that people ask/​tell you and communicate better with your staff!

Awful management. Apartment complex is part of a towing scam. Western Towing was called to tow my car from their lot at 2am in the morning. There was no warning. Western Towing had the car for 9 hours and charged me $ 450. One of the workers at Western Towing told me the apartment complex gets part of that fee. Pretty shameful. I gave two stars because the apartments are decent, though a bit overpriced.

Do Not Rent From CentrePointe Apts unless ur prepared 2 b taken 4 a major $ ride. Know going in that they have two built in add-​on gimmicks 1. AUM — utility maintenance every tenant forced 2 pay 4 averred common area utilities most of which are broken more often than not. Fire pits esp. one in courtyard rarely works; 2) the pool that is supposedly heated has been non heated all winter (waiting for a part, same standard response as to why fire pits and barbecues are often not working); 3) Barbecue stoves outside don’t always work. In addition there are safety hazards in the fire pits and barbecue stoves being out of service because tenants have noticed and reported to little avail that on many occasions blown natural gas which is major fire hazard blow openly. If a tenant or pedestrian walking their dog lights a cigarette, kaboom for all. Ask CentrePoint or its mother company Essex for an itemized bill of what AUM actually is metered at each month (because it increases each month and tenants pay up to $ 8 – 9 add-​on to pay online for their AUM bill). The prices of the apartments are inflated given some have existing housing code and building code violations which makes the inflated rents even more egregious. But the most disturbing concern should be for potential women in this community. This is not a gated community and if a woman or mother with small children and the like want to live safe and away from some unvetted neighbor tenants then these women should not rent at CentrePoint Apts. Most of the so-​called fab reviews in this Unilocal post by others are placed there each year by ownership (Essex) and property management at CentrePoint where the personnel perpetually change every 3 – 6 months in the front office so do not expect any consistency, continuity or professionalism in comparison to what is customary in large professional management corporations in the community.

CentrePoint will be the first apartment complex that I’ve lived at for more than a year since moving out for the first time 12 years ago just to give an idea of how happy I am as a resident here. I do a lot of work from home so having serenity and a peaceful working environment is very important to me.
Fashion Valley Mall is walking distance from the apartment complex, which is a huge plus.

MIguel is absolutely amazing! I’ve lived here for over four years, absolutely no issues, thanks to Miguel! Always goes above and beyond and is authentic. Having a Manager who is reliable and dependable makes all of the difference when it comes to choosing a place to live! Miguel should be running this property, I’ve been through over four different property managers and he is the one who has been consistently working hard! Great place to live and staff on site is the best I’ve ever had. Miguel rocks!

I have lived here since January and love it. Since some of our old neighbors who complain about everything have moved out our area has become a lot more friendly and neighborly. I see people at the fire pit all the time when I walk my dog at 11pm or 12am so not sure what the person below is talking about. Some people are never happy no matter what you do… But I love this place! Cooking classes, the pools are always nice, jacuzzis are nice, close to shopping/​restuarants/​the trolley, dog friendly, tennis, central to everything in San Diego… etc etc… and office management is awesome.
If you are worried about stuff being stolen, dont leave it outside, and take everything out of your cars. This is San Diego, that happens everywhere. I lived down town, ocean beach, point loma, college area and at all those placees someone broke into someones car in the area… it sucks but its not managements fault.
I would recommend this place to everyone!

It finally happened to me… All these cars had been getting broken into recently and bikes were getting stolen from peoples patios and stuff, but I mean I live on the SECOND floor… Someone climbed up and took the nicer bike we had. They left the rustier of the two, which is very nice of them, but I mean really? On a balcony that faces the main street? Where was security? How does that even happen? I had heard of people on the first floor getting their things stolen, but I mean WOW! Second floor now? Filed a police report, but I doubt I’ll ever see that bike again. I feel like paying this much and not having any security shouldn’t go hand in hand… But seriously, I don’t feel safe at all anymore in this place. Add this to the list of other gripes from before, and this place just isn’t worth it. I hate how they say the places are newly upgraded when everything is so surface touched…

I just moved in with my fiancé in March. The entire process was so easy. Michelle and Miguel made it so easy and enjoyable. We came back three or four times before we signed the lease just to make sure they were real people and not putting on an act. They are the nicest people to have as community managers. When out in the complex they always say hi have a smile on their face and seem to really enjoy the work they do.
Our units door needed the lock fixed when we moved in and it was fix by the next day. I love the fact the I can log onto my account online and place a «fix it» order check up on its status and see if it was completed. I also love the convenience of paying my rent online.
I’m not going to lie if I hear someone talk I g about looking at new places to live I tell them they have to check out Centre Point.

I’ve lived here since August of 2013 and I absolutely love it! I moved here from the east coast so I wasn’t able to see the unit prior to signing the lease, but they helped facilitate the transition so smoothly. The new office staff is awesome and super friendly and helpful with anything I need or any questions I have. I’m not sure what everyone else is talking about because they definitely still have fitness classes twice p/​week as always, the property is so well kept, I see clean up all over the property all day everyday. I’m a single girl living here alone and I always feel safe and as though I have people to go to (the office staff) if I ever need anything. Love this place!

A note for new residents: You will most likely not have the type of experience I had, from what I see, the new interiors of the apartments are very modern and nice (and laundry in unit!). Here’s what CentrePointe is good for. Takes Pets and Location — it’s safe, if you’re going to school at USD… it’s just down the hill from campus, and its the most central location in San Diego. If I moved back down, definitely would target this area.
My experience: I lived in CentrePointe before when it was called The Bluffs II — had no problems, really, besides some maintenance issues, but they were resolved quickly with no problems. Then management changed and all these renovations began. It was all exterior (at first) with a promised finish date of a couple months. VERY VERY loud (even from the roof), during the day, which was a constant problem as a student. Parking spots lost because of pods of equipment. Finger smudges on my walls from installation of windows. Then, surprise! We’re doing re-​piping inside, move all our stuff from cabinets, bathroom, and kitchen areas, walls ripped up, and we had to be out of our apartments for entire days. They had to hold a community meeting because everyone was so upset. No rent compensation for months and months of very disruptive and inconvenient troubles (or at least for the time we were basically forbidden from going into our apartments!) (But, I did get my full security deposit back when I left — kudos to CentrePointe for that).
A side note: When CentrePointe took over they proudly displayed a sign out that stated «People Love Us On Unilocal». I’m an avid Unilocaler, but COMON Unilocal… they only had three reviews at the time and at least one was clearly fake. I hate that kind of stuff. Build up cred with quality then give them the Unilocal stamp of approval.

I truly wish this complex had a better dog breed restriction list (say, along the lines of the Irvine Co., it’s not like we didn’t see pit bulls at this place during our stay). Moved out in August and have to say the management team here is professional and courteous, the maintenance crew is responsive and kind, and the units are beautiful, albeit small and not so sound proof. Considering a move to the valley for USD or State? Consider this complex, the residents are fantastic, the amenities are worth the $, and the location can’t be beat.
We truly would have stayed if we could have our dog with us and if it was just a tad more sound proof! (Seriously, we came back, lived here when it was the Bluffs II!)

Just moved in this summer. Im giving it only 4 stars because, parking for visitors is kind of hard. I like to have friends come over sometimes, and it’s hard at night for them to find street parking, and you’ll get ticketed if you park inside the lot. I gave my visitor decal to my sister, so she comes once in a while with it and parks in the visitors section. But, there’s ample parking here for others to park instead of the street, so I dont see why it’s not okay for them to park inside without a permit. especially in visitors section.
Anyway other than that, its the best apartment ive lived in, in san diego. It’s quiet, its renovated, and modern. It has laundry inside the house, which is really important to me. Dogs are allowed. I have a frenchie and he loves it here. I live on the first floor and right outside my door is green grass where he loves to go potty. There are doggie bags provided by the paths/​trails here. Theres also a doggie run, where you can go throw the tennis ball for dogs to run and catch.
Although there isnt a workout facility, they do offer circuit training classes once/​twice a week at the tennis court. I just bought tennis rackets and tennis balls with my boyfriend and we go make the best of our amenities.
Great place to live.
BUT it is pricey. They should lower the rent a little bit.

I had to move from out of state. Naturally, I had a lot of questions since I would be renting without seeing the place. A lot of complexes I e-​mailed responded with what seemed like a script and gave me all the info I didn’t need. Hannah responded to my e-​mail very quickly and actually listened to me, answering the questions I had asked specifically. She sent me photos, talked to me on the phone, and was always quick to respond to my e-​mails. She really knew a lot about the area and helped out a lot.
When I arrived the apartment looked just like the photos. Everything was brand new in the apartment, I guess they recently renovated. I’ve only had one maintenance issue, but they came over the same day to take care of it. I’m still learning San Diego, but it’s a great spot to be in since I’m close to everything. I’ve been here for a little over three months now and I’m really pleased overall.
