Thinking about metal? Well, now is a great time as there are many benefits a metal roofing system provides. From providing peace-of-mind to adding value to your home, a metal roofing system is a great decision
I completely agree with the review left by Dave G and I would think one star is generous. I have a roof that took almost 2 weeks and constant badgering on our part to complete and now my homeowners insurance won’t cover the roof under the policy because Altek refuses to supply me with a completion invoice and building permit. We were recommended Altek by another customer who was very happy with them. So we ponied up the extra money above a traditional comp shingle roof assuming this would be the last roof we would ever need. We were given zero notice of when the job would start. We had to call company several times and were eventually told Monday and the crew should be there before noon. Thats it. Two guys show up and things seemed to be going ok the first day. Only thing is they left a HUGE mess with just stuff all over the entire yard — equipment, metal scraps, etc etc. Owner contacts us to say that we never picked a color for the gutter and he needed us to do that asap and someone would leave a color sheet under our porch mat. When we tried to ask him about price, etc b/c we might just put it up ourselves later we were told, ‘if you want to put that cheap crap on your roof be my guest but its your roof.’ very unprofessional. By the second day we were noticing that there were lots of jagged edges and inconsistencies in the roof. Our roof is easily visible from the front yard and almost at eye level so we could see everything. We tried to bring these up to the installer but not much changed. By the end of the week we were feeling horrible about our decision to go with Altek to pay almost 3 times a normal roof price and have it look so horrible. Several days only one guy showed up to do the job so it took over a week for a roof that is a small rectangle. When we emailed the owner pictures of our roof he bluntly said we are not getting a sub-standard roof and that he would be out Monday at 9 am to go over the job with us, his project manager and his #1 installer. We said we won’t want anyone on our roof doing any more work until we meet to go over the job. Monday at 8:45am we arrive home to find the same installer up on the roof by himself. We were shocked and very upset! When we ask where Dan was he blandly said Dan was sick and won’t be coming. He said the project manager would be by at 10am. The project manager showed up at 11am. No call to say he would be late. We thought we had everything sorted out and Altek sent their«#1 guy» out with the same installer to finish the job(the other installer who had started the job had apparently taken another job the previous week). When they told us they were 100% done, there were still inconsistencies, roofing sealant smeared across the roof, scuff marks and a vent flashing that was buckled that someone left, etc etc. Again we took pictures and sent them and said this is not right. The buckled vent was guaranteed to leak and that was their idea of 100% after having to go back twice to complete the job. The worst part is that now my homeowners insurance won’t warranty the roof. All they need is an invoice showing installed dates, materials used and the signed building permit inspection card. I have tried for 3 months and have gotten the runaround. I have left countless emails and phone calls. I’ve been promised the owner will contact me and have received nothing. Now they are just ignoring my requests for information that should be standard for any job. I feel sick to my stomach that we spent so much money for a roof that is not covered. I still think a metal roof is a great idea but I would NEVER recommend this company. Stay Away!

After doing my research of the pros and cons with switching over to metal roofing, I persuaded my grandparents in Chula Vista to trust me. Every time I visit them, they seem to always complain about their energy bills and they disregard my opinions about turning over to the more«energy efficient» life style. At first, I wasn’t sure about investing in Altek Roofing because there were only a couple reviews that I could rely on. I e-mailed Daniel Marion and got a response the same day. He and his people were super informative, answering all of my questions and concerns. It has been a couple months since I last saw the finished product but my grandparents randomly call to thank me for the advice. Thanks Altek for your quality work and for saving my family a lot of money.

Bottom line if you use this company: Owner is not very detail oriented… at all. Take good notes and get everything in writing up front. You have to follow through on every detail because they will not and will make excuses. Progress payments are good because it seems they are more interested in collecting the next payment rather than focusing on the customer and asking whether everything is as agreed. Workmanship and quality… well, as long as you stay on them and continue to partly manage the job, it gets done but a lot of frustration could be avoided just by having the owner not make excuses and instead focus on the quality of the job. Honesty is an issue too… however, I’ll just recommend that you get everything in writing and follow up yourself. A lot of sloppy work that was called ‘complete’ several times. If you are VERY persistent you get a decent job, but there is a level of arrogance and«I just finished I’m ready to pick up the check» that as a business owner I’ve not seen. I eventually got a good product but it was a very frustrating process that took almost a month to complete.
