Joe has been recommending different wines to us for years now and i have never had a bad bottle. The Saturday tasting and events that they have are always informative and a great way to find new wines.

Is there a way to rate 10 stars instead of just 5? Joe’s is the kind of place that makes me glad to live in San Antonio: they’ve got the best-​curated selection of wines and spirits in town, the entire staff is genuinely friendly and passionate about wine, and the tastings on Saturdays always include great deals, a good food truck, a farm stand, and a colorful cast of characters. 10 stars!

Finally checked this place out and I was impressed! A very large selection to pick from. I was greeted right away and they directed me to the Sardinia, Italy collection in the back. I was looking for a birthday gift for my husband who studied abroad there 20 years ago. Sardinia is a very small island off of Italy, (I was thinking maybe they had one or two choices) and the store surprisingly had a collection of about 10 wines from the region varying in prices. Will def try again!

I love love love this place!!! The staff is always smiling and is always ready to help. Their knowledge on the wine and liquor is on point. I always come here to get my family and friends gifts and usually grab some goodies for myself as well. If they don’t have what you want they can always get it for you! Support your local wine store and check this place out. :)

This is a wonderful place where you can go to relax and meet amazing people. Valentine’s Day my first time attending a wine tasting event and I was impressed by the variety. Not only was the staff friendly but the customers were also welcoming and informative regarding the wines. We were able to socialize outside and drink some good wine!

My favorite place in San Antonio! Free wine tasting every Saturday, my boyfriend and I try to go every week. All the employees remember us and they are all so nice! It’s a pleasant experience every time. On Saturdays they always have a food truck outside as well which is great food. The wines are amazing here. They have a huge selection and even though it’s not a chain it has great deals! So glad we found this gem!

I really enjoy the free wine tasting they always host every Saturday. The owner and staff have always been kind and helping. The wine and liquor selection is wonderful and worth a visit. Let’s not forget the taco trucks that come out every Saturday as well.

Great place to get some really good wine though didn’t have a lot of choices on sweet wines the ones the did have and recommended were so good.

This was my first visit here and it was amazing!!! The staff was friendly and knowledgable about wine. They have wine tasting Saturdays which is what brought me in to the store. Every week they have a different food truck which is great. I cannot wait to return next week.

Great service. I was looking for a wine and they were the only ones who had it. (I looked at 4 different wine shops). I also found they had hard to find food items. They had fresh foie gras and these wonderful young walnuts in syrup that I have only been able to find in small villages in Lebanon. I also bought nice acrylic plates and wine glasses along with snacks for a beach trip.
If you are looking for something special this is your place for food and wine.

Why go anywhere else for wine and spirits? This eclectic place has a huge assortment of wines ranging in price from $ 7 to $ 700 per bottle and everything in between. Every major growing region and varietal is well represented. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My wife and I have attended their FREE Saturday afternoon wine tasting 3 or 4 times. Each time, we’ve enjoyed several tastes of whites, roses, and reds and naturally took home a few bottles. In addition to wine, they have a crazy selection of spirits, many of which I’m sure you’ve never heard of or tasted. The building is an odd maze of connected rooms, each with a different theme or feel. This is wine heaven. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I like to drink. i especially like to drink wine. My home in TN has its own winery and its amazing. After the first month of living here I can’t tell u how much money I wasted trying to find a decent blackberry wine. I checked this place out. Not only are the staff kind, helpful and really listen they also have FREE wine tastings. If I didn’t live so far away from here I’d be here every week. Hands down, the best wine store in SA

Ladies and gents, look no further for the most extensive and impressive wine selection in San Antonio! My friend referred me here after hearing me rave about HEB’s Central Market selections. I stand corrected! Stop by during a tasting when they have food trucks in the parking lot! Next one is Wednesday, January 30^th where you’ll be tasting an impressive array of Italian wines!
Then grab a bottle from Spain or Napa Valley; we got some incredible and affordable recommendations from staff!

Great wine selection and Weekend sales. A great way to try wines before you buy. They have two tasting bars with up to 10 wines to try every Saturday afternoon. We do miss seeing Grappa roaming the store as he recently passed away.
Enjoy the Saturday food truck selection parked in the lot as well.

if you want THE BEST selection of wine, beer, liquor, or anything in that arena, there is NO OTHER OPTION. You have got to check this place out if just to be in awe of their wine selection. Are you a Scotch drinker? Look no further. You can get a $ 40 single-​malt or a $ 600 50 year old Islay. The staff is very nice and all of them are very educated.

This is my favorite liquor store, EVER and I have lived all over the US and visited stores in many places and this is still THE standard that I hold other wine stores to. Needless to say, this is the HANDS DOWN best wine store, EVER. Enjoy!

Not only are they not at ALL snobby or pretentious, they are super helpful even when you’re searching for budget-​value wines. Their recommendations are practical and straightforward and right on the money.
The selection is fabulous and the service top-​notch. Definitely a must-​visit if you are expanding your palate and looking for a little friendly guidance!

In whichever city that I live. I find at least one store in which I can be certain to find the absolute best of everything when it comes to libations. In Dallas I had the Goody-​Goody stores, in LA I had The Winehouse and Domaine LA, and let’s not forget Bevmo. Now that I live in San Antonio I have Joe’s Fine Wine and Spirits. This place may be smaller than most, but they make excellent use of what space they do have. I walk in am greeted with a genuine «Hello!» and a smile. Suzie began to help me right away by giving me the full tour. She lead me around their wonderous labrynth showing me their break downs country by country. I also make sure that I stop by both of the tasting booths in the store.
Wine is really the star of the show there, but they do have an impeccable selection of spirits, after all it’s in the name too. The have a wonderous array of Single Malts, as well as myriad of the other of the major spirits. Other stand outs include One Barrel Rum, from Belize. That’s a hard one to find, and my Stepdad’s favorite. I end up leaving the store with two bottles of red, one from Spain and the other from France, and both were recommended by Joe himself.
They have special event tastings as well so I made sure to get on their email list. Though I did see the entire store i look forward to going back and really going through it. I have plenty oftime for that.

To 4-​star or to 5-​star?! That is the (terribly difficult) question. So, I’ll settle for 4…4 now.
Anyway, what’s not to adore? Walking in here is like walking into a library for wine… it’s all labyrinthine and homey.
FREE (as in no $$) wine tastings every Sat from 11 – 6 (and apparently on Tuesdays, too, though I’ve yet to attend one of those), at two separate bars, each usually centered (albeit loosely) on some region or theme — most recently one focused on California wines, while the other featured «old world» selections.
The variety is outstanding, and I usually end up leaving with a couple of gems, since on Saturdays the entire inventory (excluding sale items) is also 20%. Wait, you mean I either get it on sale or… I get it on sale? Yes please!
I was gonna give it 5 stars since Jason Dady’s DUK Truck now beckons from the parking lot on these divine Saturdays (get the TJ-​style duck confit tacos when they are on offer, please), but then I just have to take it away because since its advent the beloved Grappa, Joe Sag’s blind and adorable dog, has been MIA. (Too much tempting food for him. I understand.)
Oh. There’s treats (pastas, pork chops, dipping oils, spices) and a rad assortment of liquor, but this place truly is all about the wine.

LOVES IT! This place is awesome. I’ve been here a few times with a friend and I feel like this is the ONLY place she goes to buy booze and even pastas, sauces and spices. As soon as we drove up, I was like «Hey! I’ve been here before.» The place is amaaaaazing!
They have wine tasting events and even little snacks around the place whilst you peruse. Everyone that works there I believe is family. They are all so nice and if you can’t find something they will direct you to the right place. A few years ago on my first stop here, I bought this tequila liquor (yep) that I hadn’t seen anywhere else and brought it back to Dallas with me. I drank it in 3 days, don’t judge. I was never able to find it anywhere else again… le sigh.
They have aisles and walls to the ceiling with all kinds of wines and liquors. Great selections! In one wine room, they have sale bottles and specialty bottles ($ 200+), they truly do have everything. Don’t judge by the small house Joe’s occupies, they come packin! In the back room, they have pasta’s that I’ve never seen before (in person) but read recipes on them. It was all so exciting! Tons of wines, tons of liquor, tons of pastas/​spices/​sauces etc! A guy was also handing out samples of wine they just got in. Deeeeelish! They also have little impulse buys (i.e. 3 oz liquor bottles) by the register, so stock up!
I also adore the old black lab that sits in the front, he just looks so contempt. Everything about this place screams family. I love that. I know if I lived in SA I would only go here too…

Warning: this is going to be a rant.
I’ve been here twice now on Saturday for the wine tasting. The first time was very enjoyable and it was just as Aliyah described in her review. Everyone is nice, the atmosphere is very social, and I even went home with a bottle of saki. This weekend I went again and discovered half the crowd was the same (they must be wino’s :).
My girl and I visited the front bar for a while, tried all the wines, then the back and did those as well. I wanted to return to the front room/​bar to check out some bottles on the shelves. As I was reading a label, the employee behind the bar (different than the one from earlier) loudly said «Hey, hey YOU! Come over here.» At which point he pointedly asked for my identification. Reacting to the puzzled look I had, he offered that even he «gets carded at the airport.» huh?! I have no trouble being carded in liquor/​wine stores. However, a logical policy would be to card people when they enter the store, before they are served a sample, or at checkout. I had already been in the store for almost an hour trying the wines and I didn’t see anyone else getting carded. Also, I was in the middle of browsing! Totally unprofessional, –3 stars from an otherwise 5 star review.

I suspect that their wine selection is exquisite. It certainly looks that way. But I wouldn’t know a thing about it. Their hard liquor room, now that’s my favorite! They have bottles from all over the world. Rums, grappas, piscos, vermouths, some french bottles I never heard of, and many, many more. Like a toy store in a very adult kind of way.
If you need help, there is a guy who has an opinion about every bottle. Gosh, I envy his line of work! He helped me find some really good stuff I’d otherwise never look at.
I also enjoy walking past their rack of ports. It’s a real roller coaster. Year goes down and down, price goes up and up. Yee-​haw, hold on to your hats!
Prices on everything are very competitive, especially with 20% discount that seems to happen every Saturday. They also hold tastings all the time.
Grappa the dog is not helping any of your shopping; he just sits there adding friendliness to the environment. It’s a very relaxing Saturday experience, overall. And a kind of shopping I can truly enjoy. Too bad it’s a 40 min drive from my house.

I adore this place, it is very often part of my Saturday.
Stop by for wine tastings from 11am-​5pm, most often up to ten wines can be tasted. All items are 20% every Friday and Saturday. That includes wines, pastas, spices etc.
Their overall selection is pretty satisfying and IF it is not, they may be able to order what you are looking for on your behalf.
Grappa, an older black lab that is an animal companion of the Saglimbeni family, can be seen begging for treats — don’t feed him but do give him a pet on the head. By treats I mean the yummy bread and olive oil or pâté that is complimentary at each tasting.
In addition Joe’s has cute napkins, gift baskets and greeting cards for sale.
Standing space can be limited and the place can get packed, but Joe’s draws a nice crowd so enjoy.
