Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk

Visiting last night for an overnight stay, i used the self parking across the street. I must say that I love this hotel and will continue to make this my place of choice. The rooms are modern and the amenities of the hotel (spa and market) are fresh and remodeled.
The only compliant that i have is that when you self park, you are subjected to a public parking structure that is dark and filthy. I am not sure if the structure belongs to the hotel, however there needs to be some serious cleaning done to the parking spaces themselves and the two, non-​airconditioned elevators that serve the 5 story structure. I don’t suspect anything has been cleaned in years.

The hotel is very nice, wonderful accommodations, and a perfect location… If you want to stay up late and enjoy the open container laws on the riverwalk. I had a room on the 8^th floor with a view facing the atrium and I could hear everyone in the bar until the late evening… Every time a patron laughed loudly I could here he in my room. I didn’t fall asleep until after midnight and I had to work the next day. I requested a room change not facing the atrium and moved to a room on the first floor. The following night was a wedding anniversary party where the ballroom was bumping music until 11pm. Enough bass came from the ballroom to shake my room door mildly. Had I been in San Antonio to party I wouldn’t have minded, but I needed to be up at 6am every day.

Absolutely love this place! We came down for a little mini honeymoon until our real one in October. The hotel found out about our recent wedding and upgraded us to a suite for free. All of the staff here is extremely attentive and sweet, even the house keeping is nice! Everything is close by from the hotel as well. You walk less than 3 minutes and you’re at the Alamo. You’re also in the heart of all the good food/​activities. The hotel even has its own entrance to the Riverwalk, which is close to the good stuff on the Riverwalk. I will DEFINITELY return here on my next visit.

I stayed here last week and I must say it was very comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and I loved the bar that they had there. It’s very convenient when you want to step out of the hotel because numerous restaurants and bars right there! If anyone is wanting a good stay while not paying a hefty price, then this is the place to come to!

Bed bugs! I had to switch rooms at 2am when I found 3 bed bugs on my pillow. After a long day, I thought worst was over, only to find another bed bug in the new room! Creepy experience. I am now afraid if my luggage or clothes are infected — I do not want to carry this mess to my home :(
The hotel staff changed the room, but are denying finding any bed bugs — which is a lie. I should have clicked pictures as proof :(

It seemed like a nice idea, a hotel on the river walk, the lobby was very beautiful but the rooms were seriously nothing special. The carpet was dingy, the bathroom rails were coming undone, shower curtain and every other towel were stained, my sheets were the same all week, never changed by the house keeping. I had a good view of the Alamo tho, I swear the only good thing about it.

A beautiful property with an ideal location. The rooms are terrific and the staff is wonderful! Over the top, kind, thoughtful, and welcoming staff. I travel a lot for work and arrived weary from the day’s trip and the staff here are the best I’ve met. I got treated like a princess to ice cold water and a gorgeous cheese tray. Thank you, Hyatt Regency Riverwalk. I’ll stay true to you when I’m in San Antonio next.

great hotel! was helped by JR who was super friendly and answered all the questions we had. the lobby is very well decorated and there’s lots of places to sit and relax or people watch. will be back.

In all honesty, for nearly $ 250 a night I really had hyped myself for a posh experience. I understand now that I’m really paying for the location to the Riverwalk.
Starting with the room:
The layout is awkward, the Tv doesn’t point at the bed and the furniture that the TV sits in is more than a foot away from the wall, making the room feel smaller than it is. I think they wanted the bed to face the view, which is here or there because we’re looking at construction and boring graffiti.
The towels were stiff, the bed was not what I expected for the price and a little uncomfortable.
The shampoo and conditioner provided is a joke. Hyatt, don’t even provide it if it’s going to be this brand, it’s just awful.
Parking:
It’s $ 29 a night, a dollar cheaper for «guests». Be ready for it, there is nothing closer that allows come and go. The parking is why we ended up not spending any other money here in the hotel, I just assumed that this pricing was going to be consistent.
The view:
Internally, it’s beautiful, great job. We paid mostly for the location and view.
The staff:
They have been mostly kind and gracious but within the first day we’ve had to call to have them explain how the garage worked or to not have room service come check on us. Some things can be explained a little more to avoid a customers confusion and annoyance.
I expected a vacation and a certain Hyatt standard. I got a discount because of my job but I would be really upset if we paid full price. We stayed during Fiesta and the noise didn’t bother me, I expected noise from the Riverwalk. I’m upset that the quality is poor and they seem to care only for the bottom line, making money.
Don’t stay here, try another similarly priced place, maybe you’ll get breakfast included.

As I am an avid traveler, I am very particular about my hotels. Ended up paying about $ 300+/ night for my stay so I expected lavish rooms and excellent customer service. However, that was not the case.
Pros
— The lobby is beautiful and really open
— Location is wonderful (Doors open straight to the Riverwalk and a street down from the Alamo)
Cons
— Rooms are small
— Beds are uncomfortable
— Customer Service was so so
— Self Parking for $ 30!
— This is a small note but I used two tissues and the box was empty. No extras around to replace it.
Also my friend asked for more towels and they never came. Instead, housekeeping came at 9:20AM to see if we were ready to check out. Seriously?!
DONE with this place. Probably won’t ever stay here nor do I recommend it. Not worth what I paid for it.
UPDATE: Thought I was done and then went to the Bathroom in the AM to do my make up and BAM lights went off. Great way to start my morning…

One of the least pleasant hotel stays in recent memory. Room is such that you (the guest) cannot control the HVAC fan and when it’s on high speed — it sounds like a rocket launcher. Torn curtains in the room, lousy TV system (though they were swapping that out on my departure day).
Lastly, don’t get tricked by the «business plan» which they tell you includes breakfast, but what they mean is that it includes the breakfast buffet. There is NOTHING about this hotel that is designed for business. Might be a great place if you’re in San Antonio with your kids or plan to spend your time drinking up and down the River Walk, but as a business hotel, it just plain sucks. Very disappointing for a Hyatt.

Thank you for the great hospitality. KUDOS to the banqueting department. I am allergic fish and they were so kind to supply me with a an excellent substitution: veggie pasta. Loved it. Thanks again.

THE worst service I’ve have ever had. Very unprofessional. My girlfriends and I have paid for a suite to celebrate a friends bachelorette. After the manager came to our room to report a noise complaint, the rent-​a-​cop showed up, along with two managers to kick us out. The wanna be cop reported on his phone that he was, «talking to immature girls,» while my friend and I stood silently in the hallway. Do NOT stay here. We wanted a nice, safe place to stay. Apparently this is not the place. Afterwards, the manager called and politely apologized for the inconvenience. But she had no courtesy to say that in front of the wanna be cop and head manager.
I will NEVER stay here again. You are an embarrassment.

Pros:
+ Location Location Location. This hotel is right on the River Walk and you have direct access to it on the first level. I came here during New Years so we had the amazing view of the fireworks that happened down the street. Since I was on the 10^th floor, the view just doesn’t get any better.
+ No one can deny how beautiful this hotel is. From the front lobby to the little bridge on the bottom floor to the hotel rooms. The rooms were very comfortable and plush (Though double beds are full sized not queen sized). The elevator rides were so pretty because it’s glass and you can see the entire inner part of the hotel.
+ Service: Very good service at the front desk. Very friendly staff and definitely took care of all our needs.
+ Gym & Pool — excellent gym on the rooftop (would’ve taken advantage of it if I was staying longer). It had all sorts of equipment, water, and headphones!
Cons:
+ Price. It’s about $ 250+ per night. I know it’s a prime location, but if I didn’t book my hotel with points, I wouldn’t have been able stay here. Parking is $ 30 self park. Let’s not kid ourselves.
+ Pool was not open! So sad that the time I go the pool is not open … the downside to it being an outdoor pool means it can’t be open when it’s cold (I’m sure it’s great when it’s warm).
+ Bathrooms were quite small, everything was a little crammed since it was sink/​toilet/​bathtub all in the same small room.
+ No free food of any kind. There’s probably a comfortable Holiday Inn, etc. nearby that has free breakfast for half the price. So if you are willing to sacrifice the location, there are better places to stay.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay because it’s a prime location and a beautiful hotel. But I won’t be returning if I can’t book with points because at the end of the day, the hotel wouldn’t be worth $ 250.

No. can we say Oh hell no? I have many things to pick at. but lets go in order (photos are uploaded too):
hotel room: So the room was inside of the hotel (as in faced the inside of the hotel) and the room has these white textured walls with really nothing on them. Felt very prison like and not homie at all. Also the cable didn’t work beyond 6 channels out of over 40 channels. They said they were trying to fix it, but never did. The walls were SO thin that I could everything the people next to us were doing and saying. The room had a door that connected to their room. which I didn’t like at all. Just for over $ 140+ a night I want a plush room. The bed was nice, but with the lack of décor and weird room feel. it just made me not want to stay there. Call me nit picky, but how would you feel walking into a room on the riverwalk with just a bed, desk and tv dresser? No décor or the ability to open your blinds. because then everyone can see your business??? very isolating!
Parking: $ 29 – 39 a night. depending on self park or valet. The freaking parking garage isn’t even their own. it is a regular parking garage where you share with the general public. We paid $ 29 for self parking and found one of the last parking spaces on the 5^th floor. That made me mad too! I have stayed at lesser hotels and had a better parking situation. Also, when you check out keep one of your cards to get out of the garage. Then there is a box there to put your card in. … they don’t tell you that at all!
Location: Not a bad location as it is right on the riverwalk, but again I don’t like the smell of sewage river lol. But if you like to drink and eat on the riverwalk then this is a great location for you. I got a hotel room here because I thought it was going to be a plush hotel and all rich like. But nope!
The customer service was good and they did comp my shitty hotel stay with free parking. and the girl was very nice about it all. i wasn’t rude about it because it wasn’t here fault that the hotel has issues, but I won’t be staying here again. Oh yeah, the room service has good options and the food isnt horribly priced at all. They do have some GF options and try to have healthy options too. Over all I won’t be back, but it definitely is a funny experience for my husband to laugh on another time.

My boyfriend and I had the best experience here and we would definitely stay here again.
The rooftop pool was clean, it wasn’t too crowded, and I loved it. They also had a bar up there and some music.
Our room was perfect! We got one with a balcony and not only was it an amazing view but our room was spotless, our bed was so comfy, a great selection of movies on the tv, and room service was perfect!
Our favorite part was that it was on the river walk and so close to everything.
What a perfect location and perfect hotel.

A very pleasant hotel, located in the heart of the Riverwalk area. It’s an 11+ story Hyatt with a very nice open atrium, rooftop pool and a good restaurant.
The rooms are good sized and many look into the atrium. It’s a bit weird to see other window fronts, but you can always close the drapes (which are truly room darkening if sunny).
Rooms include a fridge (definite plus) and the bathroom is decent sized. Good amenities too.
Highlights include the pool deck (top floor, go to 11 and then turn right/​go up the stairs and you’re right three). Spectacular view of the city. It’s not really big, but it’s definitely a good place to get sun and relax if you have a few moments.
I didn’t use the workout room/​gym but heard it was decent by a workoutaholic friend.
Why did I say 11+? Well, there is the lobby, ballroom level and then «hill country» level (more meeting rooms). So really floor 1 would be 4 by the usual method of counting. Not a big deal, but I did see people confused by it.
Also, there is a lower level which connects to both sides of the riverwalk (one towards the Alamo, about two blocks away and the other to the main restaurant/​shopping portion of the Riverwalk. Oddly, you can’t directly access it from the elevators unless you get two of the five that go all the way down but you still have to walk down another flight of stairs. There’s also a single elevator bank by registration that goes down (just between those two floors). Also, because there are only five elevators that service the rooms, waits can get very long at times. This is probably the main lowlight I encountered.
The staff is extremely friendly, housekeeping did an excellent job and I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located right next to the river walk! It’s convenient to everything downtown. There’s plenty of shopping and restaurants to walk to. I could see the Alamo from the room I was in.
The hotel itself is very nice. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. If there is an event going on prepare to wait a while if you valet your car.
The hotel rooms are a decent size. For a double room the beds were about the size of a full and very comfortable. There’s a small desk and a little sitting area. The bathrooms are pretty tiny. There’s only enough room for one person at a time to use the sink/​mirror. The rooms are pretty sound proof minus the hallway noise. I never heard my neighbors but I could hear every little noise from the hallway. My hotel room faced outside to the river walk and I could hear people at all hours of the night that were down on the river walk.
The hotel bar stops serving food and drinks at midnight so if you’re in search of something to eat or drink you’ll need to venture outside of the hotel.
Overall this is a great place to stay if in the area.

Really nice gym. If your room isn’t ready you can get in a good workout while you wait. This hotel is located on the San Antonio Riverwalk (which offers up TONS of options for food, dining and entertainment that is accessible by foot.
The room I stayed in was nice however the bathtub dripped the entire time. The front lobby staff was very helpful as was everyone else I interacted with. I have to agree with other reviewers that the noise in this hotel is a bit more noticeable than other places I have stayed. I could hear everything in the room above me. Also, the lights are weird. Sometimes you cannot turn certain lights in the room on yet at other times I could. The desk lamp (which was plugged into the wall) would only work after 6 am. Another small con was the wifi which really could be improved.
The fitness center was nice and has a scale which I really appreciated. There are multiple treadmills, elliptical machines and bikes. plus there are free weights, exercise machines, fitness bands and some kettlebells.
I appreciate the fact that there were hand sanitizer stations located throughout the hotel. I must have encountered 50 people who were either coughing or sneezing so this was helpful.
Also, the elevators can be slow. At one point I had to wait over 15 minutes because of the line of people waiting to get on.

Very good service. The property is clean and well maintained. The service is excellent. The food is delicious. The room is large.
The only thing and it’s actually a small thing I would suggest is the bed. It feels like a hide a bed. Maybe its already in the works. Change that and get one more star.
