Called Jay to replace an ice maker. Paid $ 163.00 up front. When the ice maker wouldn’t come out easily he forced it out, which severed the Freon lines. The fridge was unrepairable. He then admitted he carries no insurance & started pleading not to give a bad review, that he would pay for a new refrigerator by the end of the month. That was July 4^th weekend, it’s now Labor Day. He has only texted once that he was bringing money the next day, only to not show up. He won’t even return the $ 163.00.

Had a good experience with Jay. He was polite and did a good job fixing the issue with our older fridge. When it wasn’t the circuit board the first time, he came back and a fixed the other thing it could be at no extra charge.

Yesterday one of our air conditioners stopped working and made a loud buzz. We Googled the issue and found it could be a number of different things, so I looked on Unilocal for someone to come fix it. As Remedy had all wonderful reviews I called Jay and he came by after he was finished with his morning appt. So far so good.
Unfortunately I didn’t realize that Jay was the same person we tried to hire last year to repair our washing machine. That was a mess. He came in, took the machine apart, acted like he was doing things, and then said he didn’t know if he fixed it or not but had to charge us anyway. Well, guess what? It was way worse than before he showed up and on top of what we paid him, it cost another $ 300 for someone else who knew what they were doing to resolve the issue.
Anyway, Jay shows up this morning and even though neither of us said anything, it was obvious we both recognized each other (my bad for not remembering before I called him, but it was over a year ago and we had just relocated to TX). He asked me to turn the system on so he could take a look. He went around the side of the house and I went to the thermostat and turned it on. By the time I got outside (30 sec later) he already had the air conditioner apart and was holding the capacitor (cylindrical battery) and said we needed a new one. No big deal, except that he quote me $ 178 for the job.
When I questioned the price, verified that the part he was going to use cost around $ 30, and confirmed that this was nothing more than plugging it in (literally, no tools required), he got very defensive and said «Well, everyone else will charge you more.»
I explained that his competitor’s prices were not my concern, and since we already paid him last year for a job he royally messed up, perhaps there was a reasonable price he would like to quote (NOT $ 140 for 5 minutes of work, plus the $ 38 he was charging for the capacitor).
I asked if this was something I could go purchase myself, because the install was super easy. He told me I needed an HVAC license to purchase this part (not true, see below). He then tells me he has had his license for over two years and tries to keep his prices below his competition. I questioned this because just over a year ago when he was here breaking my washing machine, he was just about to sit for his HVAC license exam. He finally admitted that next March will be two years (actually, it’s next late May, but who’s counting).
At that point he got extremely defensive, walked back to the air conditioner and told me to find someone else because he didn’t want any «bad reviews». I said, «Bad review? You haven’t done anything, but if you leave me hanging, I’m absolutely going to let others know about it.» Apparently he is very concerned about what might be written about him here on Unilocal.
He refused to have a professional conversation, packed up his things and quickly left.
I went inside, sat down at my computer and researched which capacitor I needed to purchase. Turns out that the cheaper ones like Jay was going to use are not only made in China, but they only last a year or less. The good ones (made by AmRad) last for many years and cost $ 70 at JohnStone (who does in fact sell to the public). I drove over there, picked up the AmRad, had a very nice conversation with the guys in the store, came home, and 5 minutes later my air conditioner was working perfectly.
All Jay had to do was not try to overcharge me (perhaps $ 89 to replace a battery with the cheap component he was using, or pay for the part and $ 50 to do the job?) and I would have been none the wiser regarding the cheap Chinese capacitor he was going to use.
All I’m saying is while Jay might be able to do the job, and I’m not suggesting he can’t fix your problem (though it was hit or miss for us), it’s important to know what is being charged, the quality of the components being used, and what exactly the job entails. I, for one, am not about to be ripped off only to find that next year I have to go through the whole thing again. Shame on you Jay.

Super Job — I recently had to have my entire heat pump system replaced. Jay and his crew came in and did a miraculous job. They were fast, efficient, professional, and friendly. I would highly recommend them. Jay even spent the time to program my thermostat and show me how to use it. Great Service. Thanks,

My refridgerator died shortly after a trip to HEB, so you can understand my panic. I found Remedy Aire on Unilocal,and called. Charise got me scheduled and Jay and Christain came right out. The part was ordered, replaced and my fridge was back up running in no time. I couldn’t be more pleased with how great they were. Christain even swept up behind it for me! I would recommended them to anybody! Fast, friendly, reliant, resonably priced for sure! I really appriciate everything!

Our AC went out last night, and I didn’t know who to call. Looked on Unilocal,saw Remedy and Jay. Gave them a call at 3pm and he was there at 4pm, just like we asked. About 30 minutes later he was on his way home, and our house was starting the cool down process.
I am very thankful for Jay. We got on his 6 month checklist as well for only 40 $.
He as well does appilances, and I will not be afraid to pick up the phone and call.

Jay is the best! Bought a gas dryer off Craigslist that was a great deal. Just was set for LP instead of natural gas. Seller even gave me the fittings to convert it with. Thought this was a DIY project until I researched it online. Turns out, you REALLY need to have someone certified that can do it right. Called our standard appliance repair guy, but he wasn’t licensed. Looked here’s on Unilocal and found Remedy close by that had great reviews. Called him in the afternoon and he scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Did the conversion with the parts I had, didn’t take long and invoiced exactly what he quoted. Now Jay is in my contacts and buh-​bye to the other one. Will definitely use again when the need arises.

our 14 year old refrigerator died out and we need to know if it was fixable or need replacement. I pulled up Unilocal and looked at the reviews and picked Remedy. He put us next on his list and was out to the house in about 30 mins. He felt it was the capacitor and said if the new one didn’t start it up, then it was the compressor and it would be smarter to get a new frig. It was fixed with the new capacitor and we set up another visit to check our A/​C system for 40 bucks. Fast, friendly, knows his stuff and the price was right.
I highly recommend Jay.

Jay was great. They worked hard to fit me in the day I called and he came early. Then he went out of his way to get a part that burned out on our A/​V Unit. I will def. call them back for other work. Thanks Jay!

Our GE Fridge/​Freezer went out and Jay was out here to evaluate the problem and went out to get the replacement part installed and working in a matter of about 2 hours before anything spoiled. He was very friendly, thorough and fast. We will definitely be calling him again for our future needs.

The Unilocal reviews don’t lie! Jay was great, responsive and best of all available! Needed a spark module replaced on our stove and he was great! We’re in Round Rock and he showed up the same day and ordered the part and was back in 48 hrs to replace the part. Honest guy, he was recommending that we don’t replace the part and wait but we wanted to go ahead and get it done. I respect that. Most of all I love that can fix the AC for those awful summer months!

I would highly reccomend Jay and Remedy Air. I initially had him replace the water valve due to leaks and also had an issue with my freezer freezing up and leaking out the overlow. He has come back several times and is always very pleasant to work with. He always works with me on meeting up which is greatly appreciated as I live in RR and work in S. Austin and I can only meet at certain times. I would have no hesitancy in reccomending him; he is an honest and knowledgable professional.

I called Remedy Air & Appliance based on reviews I read online. I’m so glad I did! We have a rental property that needed oven repair. The oven had pretty much stopped turning on, so we really needed a quick repair. Jay went out early the next day & quickly determined the problem. The next morning he was back with the part and had the oven working again. (yippee!)
We also had him look at the dishwasher while he was there. It had been making some strange noises. It (of course) wouldn’t make the noises while he was there & he didn’t find anything wrong with it. I really appreciate his honesty (not charging for a repair that wasn’t needed). The dishwasher is still working fine but if it starts acting up again, I know I can trust Remedy to repair it.
Jay was very easy to communicate with. If he didn’t answer the telephone, he was quick to return my call. He keeps a busy schedule, but he tried his best to schedule a time that worked for our renters. He called when he said he would and he was on-​time. After looking at the oven/​dishwasher, he called me with the repair cost. An invoice was emailed to me as well as the receipt of payment.
I’ll definitely use Remedy Air & Appliance again in the future. It’s wonderful to have found a great company that is reasonably priced, knowledgeable in their work, friendly, and honest.

I gotta say. Jay at Remedy was a great find. He returned my call within minutes and was at my door the same day within the hour. That’s Fast! He identified the issue with my AC and got it running again. Then came back the next day with the needed materials to complete the job. Very professional and reasonable cost. He will definitely be my go to guy for AC and appliance repair. Highly recommended!

I called Remedy Air to get a 2^nd opinion on my a/​c problem and Jay with Remedy Air came out the same day, ran a few tests, and within 15 minutes found a major problem that the last a/​c repairman completely overlooked. I’ve never had an a/​c repairman examine every small detail and then explain it to me like Jay did. Jay’s close attention to detail saved me about $ 1500.00 in repair costs and my a/​c is working beautifully now.
He even put together an invoice and emailed it to me before even leaving my property. I can’t speak highly enough about this guy, he’s really got his stuff together. I would definitely recommend Jay to others without a doubt.

I was referred to Jay and couldn’t be happier with his professionalism. We were having A/​c trouble and the temperature started climbing again so we had to consider a repair. I called and left a message. Jay called me back almost immediately to let me know he was out of town and couldn’t make it, but he would call a family member in the business to come out. It was still tolerable so I let him know I would wait until Monday morning.
Monday morning came and Jay gave me a courtesy call to let me know he was running a bit behind (about an hour). Talk about an accurate estimate because he was on my porch in the hour. Came in, polite as can be, and checked our unit. Diagosed that we would need a new fan motor within 30 minutes and let me know he would have it in within the day.
Here’s the amazing part — he knew he was booked and couldn’t make it back out so he contacted a collegue to finish the job so we didn’t spend another night sweltering. He ordered the part, picked it up between gigs, and dropped it off at the home of the other guy coming out. I got a call letting me know when his collegue was coming, an accurate estimate, and no hassle or attempted upsale.
Honest, dependable, and professional. YEAH!!!

Jay at Remedy is top notch.
I had a Dishwasher problem and instead of taking the expensive route and quoting me replacement parts he sat down and tried to solve the problem. A half hour later and no parts I have a great running machine. Jay was on time and courteous, all the while explaining what was the issue. He was also very free with advice on how to get more life out of my appliances. If you need service work, Jay is your man.

I have a dryer over a decade old that wasn’t heating anymore. I called several repair services but Jay was the only one who could make it out the same day.
Fast, courteous, experienced, informative, resourceful (didn’t have the parts in his truck but got them very quickly), and competitively priced. Very pleased with the service and would call on him again.

Great service. Jay took my initial phone call to talk about my LG dishwasher and from there we communicated via e-​mail to set up an appointment. He came out and looked at everything, took it apart, explained to me what was wrong, gave me the entire process of how there repair would be handled, and he also gave me tips on taking care of it. Very quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend him from my experience with him.

Hey Unilocalers. My AC compressor went out on the weekend of 4^th of JULY! I heard about Remedy Air from a friend and gave them a call. I left a message and Jay immediately called me back… after being told by several other «AC guys» that it would take a week just to order the part I was about ready to give up. Jay came out that night. and instead of just replacing the compressor (like the other guys wanted to do — without even looking at it) Jay tested my system and found that it wasn’t the compressor, it was just a small part that had went bad. I was up and running — in cold air– in no time!!!
and being a holiday weekend, I was ready for the shock of a HUGE service fee, but when Jay gave me the bill, it was so reasonable that I almost felt bad paying it .
