Red Bar

So being a local around this area. I’ve decided to try this place out. The sign once you walked in said seat yourself. So as I’m seating myself. I’m looking at their menu for dinner. I waited for 20mins. Still no service to come greet me or ask me for my drink order. I had to yell at one of the staff members to come take my order. In order to get their attention. I would imagine nice hotel like this would have staff on their customer service A game. I recommend people to try this place out for ONLY THE FOOD. NOT FOR THE SERVICE. the waiters and waitresses don’t even greet you or say Hi or make it feel Welcoming to come into their Hyatt Regency Home.

Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. So this became the go-​to place for dinner.
Food = okay. (They have a standard menu, and a sushi menu.) It was hit or miss on a few items.
Chips and salsa were great. But that’s easy (usually). Red salsa and salsa verde, both had great flavors and spicy. House made chips = crunchy, thick and addicting. $ 6.50.
Chicken quesadilla = 3 chicken tacos with pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream on the side. It was okay. I wasn’t a fan. $ 10.50.
Mustard crusted sustainable salmon with red quinoa and wilted swiss chard. Perfectly cooked, tender salmon, and the whole dish was a great combination of flavors – spicy, tart and nutty. This was one of my favorite dishes from here. $ 18.00.
Buffalo chicken wings, comes with celery sticks and bleu cheese dressing. Asked for ranch dressing. The wings were good but a bit on the dry side. $ 11.00.
Cobb salad (Grilled chicken, smoked bacon, egg, avocado, blue cheese and tomatoes
tossed with lemon-​Dijon dressing). I skipped the bleu cheese and asked for extra egg. It’s ginormous, filling and delicious. Another one of my favorites from here. $ 15.00.
Service = friendly. Attentive.
Prices = moderate. (Typical pricing for a hotel restaurant/​bar.)
Plenty of seating, dark inside. TV screens galore.
Overall, not a bad place for a quick bite or just a place to hang out.

Was staying at the hotel for a few nights. Would normally have room service but decided to eat in the bar. Service was fine, wine was just okay and food was average. I had the pesto bacon pasta. It was definitely a good size portion, however it was a serious overload of pesto. A little too overpowering so I couldn’t taste anything else in the dish. If I stay at that hotel again, would definitely try something else or go somewhere else.

Typical big hotel restaurant and bar in terms menu items, but I was surprised of the quality of the burger I got. I was stuck here because of flight delays, and after 2 weeks aboard a cheeseburger sounds pretty good. I was surprised by the juiciness of the burger, and how well put together the burger was.
Service was pretty good even though they had more guests than they were expecting due to flight delays, it made the place feel crowded on a Saturday night. No complaints, the food is priced appropriately for a large, chain hotel at the airport.

Wasn’t expecting much from a hotel bar, but was pleasantly surprised. Had the mustard-​crusted salmon dish with quinoa. Food and service were great. The entrée was actually really well-​priced. Will be back.

Had a Pepsi with no refills and was charged $ 7. I recommend ordering a beer instead for the same price.

First to thing to accept is the the fact this is a restaurant in a hotel. So expect pricing to be a little steep. I started off the spinach and artichoke dip which was good. One my favorite appetizers of all time. I then got an Angus burger which that costed about $ 13 but it did fill me up after that dip. The beer selection was not all that great but it was alright to have something to drink at least with my food.

Maybe the servers here were all having a bad day…
Yuricka (my waitress) chose to give me a scolding because I chose a dirty table. Well this was because another waitress instructed me to sit there and then never returned to clean it or take my order.
You never blame the customer for something like this. Super unprofessional. I was ready to walk out but since I was staying at this hotel I had no other options for food.
They get 2 stars because the calamari appetizer was huge (it needed more seasoning and more than one lemon). Also the hot wings were fairly decent.
I’m going to assume that the food will always taste the same and that this business would deserve 2 stars without the poor service so the 2 stars are my way of being fair.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Seriously, the worst restaurant service of my life. Not once, but twice in a row. Last night we waited 20 minutes to be greeted (after asking the bartenders for service, and no they were not busy) then the manager Jose promised a better experience if we came back for half off. We came back, waited another 20 mins for drinks as our cold food was brought out right after. The sever never rang in several items from our table, then the manager Jose refused to make the forgotten items because the kitchen was closed. He also tried to blame us for the server not ringing in the food… And we are still paying for half the food. I have never received such awful service from servers or managers. I would have had better service at McDonald’s.

Stopped in for a late night meal. I was disappointed that the sushi wasn’t available after ten, but I loved the watermelon basil non-​alcoholic drink. It was refreshing, full of flavor and only 55 calories! I didn’t try a true cocktail, as the alcoholic cocktails on the menu went for as much as $ 16, which was shocking!
I had the southwestern wrap for dinner, it was ok. The chicken was moist and had just enough spice, but I felt there was too much cold shredded cheddar in the wrap. It was grilled so the warm and cold clashed. Overall, I was happy with this hotel bar — warm and trendy ambience and a decent place for a late night snack.

Great dining in an eclectic hotel setting. Perfect spot to catch up on Big Ten football games and scores on the multiple television monitors, whether you’re getting jiggy with wings and beer, or handling your Sushi & Sashimi chopsticks business.

Rarely do I order Nachos, yet tonight I just felt like having them. They are cheap quality and below sub standard here. Super Thick mass produced unauthentic chips. Wasn’t sure if they were stale or just horrible. Nasty Plastic cheese. Jalapeños straight from a jar (so gross). And nearly non existent ‘avocado cream’. The nachos were horrible, with prepackaged toppings (nothing fresh) and non foodie. Chicago is a city boasting some of the best food in the country. These nachos were rookie, cheap and made with the cheapest ingredients. Blach! Never gain!

Better than most hotel bars but still a hotel bar, so sot expect too much.
Steak sandwich — ok as such goes.
The server was friendly and helpful. So a bigger than average tip just for that.
Other than that, average place. Higher prices than it should be, but that’s what you get from a hotel place.
Tip — order your drink neat or on the rocks. If you order a mixed drink you won’t think there’s any booze at all

This was a good option for dining at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. I had a Chicken Cesar Salad and it was fairly well done. The chicken was grilled very well and tasty and the dressing was a nice supplement.

Over priced food that is not that memorable, but you are in a hotel after all. I give the place credit for having revolution in a can at least, a can of eugene porter will run you 7. They also offer sushi if your wallet can handle it.
As a place to sit, relax and enjoy company or the game, Red Bar wins.
Tip — there is a very generous plate of chips and salsa that can be had for around 7. It comes with red and green salsa with just enough kick and I am told that the salsa is handmade at the hotel.
The biggest challenge Red Bar has is whether it is open when you need it. Sometimes it is closed when it does not make sense, i.e. opens at 4pm on a Sunday.

The restaurant didn’t have enough servers. We had to clean off our own take before sitting down.
And the sushi? Disgusting. I ordered a green dragon roll and it tasted like the eel has been left out for days. It was so gross, I spit it out rather than swallow it.
The calamari also tasted old.
The chicken on the chicken nachos was as dry as the Sahara.
The only reason I’m not giving this one star is that the waiter did his best for us, and they didn’t make us pay for the food we didn’t like. The manager came over and told is they were removing the bad items.
Time to fire the chef there though. For three people of a party of 6 not to like their food. Bad odds, my friend. That chef needs a kick in the ass

Best sushi ever!!!
I’m definitely a sushi lover, and ordered some sushi for room service. I have to say, at the standard of a hotel-​restrant, the sushi here is amazing~! A little bit pricy, but it totally worth it!

It is funny because every single time that I travel to Chicago for team meetings, we stay at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare and the Red Bar is down in the lobby. You would think that the number one focus would be that we go out to grab some deep dish pizza or some Chicago style fare but we always migrate to the Red Bar in the lobby.
The bar is not listed as a sports bar but it could be. It has tons of hanging televisions that has sports on all of the stations and it has a great feel to the place.
The food is a good mix of everything from wings, to nachos to sushi to shrimp style pasta. Trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed in their food and their attempt to create a fine dining pub food style establishment.
I personally had the hot wings and the cheese quesadilla and I loved everything about it. the service was great and attentive and they had an ok selection of drafts on tap (I think about 5 of them).
If you are traveling or just looking for a place to relax and eat and drink some wobbly pops, then check this place out.

This place is pricey for what you get! The food is ok. It’s mostly junk food, salad, and sandwiches. Luckily, there is sushi too which is the only thing I would order from here. I noticed that the leather seats in the booths were quiet tattered. For a nice place… They should get on that. In general, it is a nice ambiance.
FYI — They do validate parking.

Red Bar is still pushing out the good drinks and food in a contemporary environment.
Had the sushi on this go around and while okay– they do better with standard bar fare like the nachos, pizza and burgers.
The level of fun is always dependent on who is in the place…but since biz travelers all have the same mojo when at a hotel bar…it always seems to work out just fine.
