Hyatt Regency O’Hare

I come here every few years for a conference and each time, the experience is always positive. It’s located so conveniently to the airport and the hotel itself is stunning to look at. The architecture is very modern (reminds me of «Inception») and the rooms are clean and well kept.
The hotel has great amenities, including a parking garage, convenience hotel restaurants, and good service. There were also plenty of Über’s driving around the area which I found surprising since it’s not near the city.

Internet signal in «outer towers» weak to non existent. Inner rooms much better.

Staff very warm and friendly. Room very clean in appearance and the mattress get two thumbs up (lumbar issues).

I stayed at this hotel for a conference and what impressed me the most is the level of customer service the staff here gives at every level. They go out of their way to serve you and to be proactive in taking care of your needs. I was impressed on how the clean the rooms are as well as how the hotel staff restock your basic toiletries. They have a restaurant that is full service and has an incredible all you can eat breakfast and dessert bar. They also have a wonderful little snack bar that serve Starbuck’s Coffee! Even though much of the staff are Bears Fans their shuttle service to the airport and to the train is spectacular. I highly recommend that on your next trip to Chicago you consider staying at the Hyatt.

Like most airport hotels, it’s all about location for preference of where to stay. This is a nice, clean property. Well maintained, clean and updated rooms, carpet etc– I had a very good meal at the lobby bar and a great breakfast buffet at the restaurant on site. I would recommend it to friends and associates. Staff was also friendly too! The shuttle driver was courteous and professional and quick!

If I could do less stars I would, here is my story they had a amp bazar and it got where their had to be so many Muslim people witch at first I thought oh I will look at what they sell cause it is so pretty, but as the evening went on it turned into thousands of people you couldn’t even get through the lobby downstairs then fights broke out police yelling and people yelling chanting I video the whole thing from by my room on the 4 th floor this went til midnight off and on then from midnight til 3:30 a group of younger kids got rooms and went in and out all the time there was 15 people in the room that I counted again the staff was well out numbered. Half of who came during the day didn’t have rooms so I don’t think the hotel made anything off them but I can say they lost me as a customer

I always enjoy my stays at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare. The staff provide stellar exemplary service.
The airport shuttle is always on-​time. The added benefit is that is complimentary.
The rock stars that provide impeccable services are: Michael in the Club Lounge, Tom from Events, Sarah/​Juana from Catering, Dan, Jerrell and Shane of PSAV, Justina Maria from Housekeeping, Eva, Osmond and Lillian of Banquets and Alex — Shuttle Driver.

First of all, this review only pertains to the conference facilities since I was not an actual guest in one of the rooms. There is also a huge convention center directly adjacent to the hotel which is connected by a skyway (and that I went to initially since the organizers of my event apparently suck to the point of not adding any signs) but my conference was located in one of the ballrooms on the third floor of the hotel itself. The front doors of the hotel, if you elect not to take the revolving doors, are like trying to open the door to a bank vault. When you throw in the fact that it was windy as hell on the day in question, it made matters far worse. I ended up looking ridiculous for a brief moment thinking I was pulling when I should of been pushing. I saw a poor woman in a cocktail dress get knocked to the ground that made my encounter seem minor. I felt really bad for her, especially after she toppled end over end and a good 50 people got to check out her (rather strange) taste in undergarments. She looked so embarrassed.
The lobby of the hotel is HUGE and open, with cascading upper balconies of several guest floors and large see through elevators that span the far side. There is also a large open restaurant on the second floor and a coffee shop directly adjacent to the front doors. As far as lobby amenities go, the place is good to go.
I am sadly getting to the point of being old hat when it comes to these types of industry conferences, so I was admittedly not in a very good mood from the jump. As such, so you might want to take this one with a grain of salt. The ballrooms are plenty big enough, and the staff members that I interacted with were cordial, though I began to get the distinct impression that most of them were about as happy to be there as I was. My main problem with execution was how lackluster their audio system was. I was sitting near the back and I could hardly make out what the guy at the podium was trying to say. If they tried to turn it up the feedback was akin to a flock of pigeons caught in a blender.
The food was your typical conference fare and was about as unremarkable and unmemorable as virtually any other I have experienced. The only reason I remember now what I even had was that I took a picture of it. It will sort of satisfy your hunger but that is about the extent of it.
Lastly, and most annoyingly, 27 bucks for parking and nearly 40 for valet? No modifications for those only staying a short time? Are you friggin kidding me? And No, as I found out, even people staying at the hotel are not spared of this expense. Nothing like being anally raped with a bowling pin with no lube. Ridiculous.
Unless forced to for work, I will not be returning to this place.

Hotel room = good. Clean. Updated. Wish the lighting was better. Bathroom light by the sink = turns on ever so slowly, as if in a horror film. I wish the room had a physical directory but it appears that most of it accessed via TV. Something to be said about old school touches. Oh well, difference of opinions.
Room key = touch and go! (Easy access without fumbling.)
We had a room with a balcony on the 7^th floor. Decent view of the fall foliage, big skies and partial sunset. Standard room doesn’t have a fridge nor microwave, but we asked for a fridge and they obliged.
Elevators = the central hotel elevators, all 4 in one location, which makes it less confusing but also creates a mess when the place is full (there was more than one convention going on here. Try about 7!) There are other elevators for access to the other hotel rooms, too.
The lobby is actually on the 3^rd floor from the parking garage elevator, and there are signs everywhere indicating that.
Most of the hotel has been updated and you’ll see the modern decorative touches throughout. The aesthetics of the overall hotel is beautiful, clean and modern. Indoors, there are various places to sit and enjoy the natural sunshine, and there are a few outdoor benches, too.
There are three restaurants inside this place, two offer sit down dining (O’H American Grill and Red Bar) and one is a pick-​up-​and-​go type of place with a gift shop (Perks). Room service is available (via TV screen).
Meeting place? Not an issue. They have plenty of space.
Need fast check in for air? They have two terminals for print off. Helpful!
Prices = expensive.
Complimentary shuttle service to/​from ORD. However, since there’s construction at ORD, they drop off at Shuttle Center only. Read the signs carefully.
Parking = plenty. But the spaces are tight. Yes, you’ve got to pay to park, and it’s not cheap.

Short Version: If you’re staying here on a company card, you’re going to love it. Even if you aren’t, it’s still a gorgeous hotel. If staying of your own volition, though, do expect some of the charges and amenities to be a bit grating. We ended up getting conference rates which made the entire stay more affordable, but if we had paid the standard 200+ a night and $ 25+ a night for parking, we would have been more annoyed.
Disclosure: Didn’t eat food. Didn’t use Wi-​Fi.
Pros:
–Hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful decorations all over and four giant elevators that are quick and responsive to ensure you rarely wait for elevator time. The lobby and exterior of rooms honestly looks like something I expect to find in some weird, futuristic world where this is how we all «live». Decent open common areas with greenery and gorgeous neutral colors and natural lighting. The photographer in me was super happy.
–Lots of items available as complimentary items in case you forget something. Make-​up remover, shampoo, razors, deodorants, etc. However, call down to have the items delivered to your room. As we found out, if you go down to the front desk because it seems silly to ask someone to deliver deodorant to your room, they won’t actually give you the item. They’ll ask you to go back to your room and wait until the item is delivered. One of our item requests was forgotten about and we had to request it again. Other two requests were fulfilled with no problem.
–Hotel room itself was very clean and pristine. Everything was very modern and up-​to-​date and worked perfectly. The windows were full, floor-​to-​ceiling windows which were gorgeous.
–Lots of available bell hops to help you get your luggage loaded up and moved to the room. Very polite. Staff was very polite throughout the weekend as well. Check-​in was simple and easy.
–Walkable distance to a Starbucks coffee and the Stephens Conference Center. The hotel itself also offers a small coffee shop with some Starbucks coffee options (including Frappes).
–Decent neighborhood with lots of people walking around and a (very) short drive over to the Rosemont Outlet mall.
Cons:
–No swimming pool or hot tub. This is odd. They do, however, have a very fitness-​focused fitness center with treadmills and other machines.
–People everywhere. All the time. Unlike some conference hotels, this one has multiple conferences all of the time. Expect to see people milling about all of the common areas at all hours of the day. Some of the entrances to the hotel walk through conference areas as well (we ended up walking through a wedding reception — which felt weird.)
–In-​room fridge has no room for any personal items. Ice bucket is super small. No in-​room microwave for standard rooms. However, they do provide microwaves near the ice machines.
–Rooms are pretty tiny as well. No excess space. Just pathways around the bed with a TV and desk on the opposing wall, and that’s about the gist of the room.
–I LOVE airplanes. However, if you don’t, be aware that this hotel is along the approach path for O’Hare, so there are constant commercial flights (with their accompanying noise) every couple minutes or so. It’s noticeable in rooms but not bothersome.
–Hotel is quite adamant about using the bell hops. Luggage carts are not available for use unless you’re utilizing the bell hops. They are serious about this. We watched someone get chased down for trying to use one.
–Hotel parking isn’t free. It’s $ 26 a night for self parking, and you’ll use your room key for unlimited in-​and-​our privileges (including some use allowed during checkout day). Our conference rate brought it down to $ 10 a day, but still, was not expecting to have to pay an extra $ 50 for two days in parking. Parking lot includes a parking lot as well as a tall parking garage — even so, it was hard to find parking, and we couldn’t find a spot until we made it to the very top floor of the parking garage.
–Gigantic electric billboard right outside our hotel room window kept shining in tons of excess light. We wanted to leave the heavy drapes open to enjoy the night lights of Chicago, but there’s a GIANT Hyatt billboard located right there.

Came here for a conference. Been to this conference several times. This hotel had the WORSE WORSE FOOD EVER!
Even at the restaurant… the food was NOT good.
The rooms were not great. Rooms needed to be updated. The updates that they did were insulting to my dollar– they were very cheap.
Staff were nice.

Most worse Wifi ever. Even with charged premium account it does not really work stable or even kind of fast.
Rooms are okay, but far away from any luxus

The shuttle from the airport to the hotel is wonderful. There is wifi and it is fast and efficient and comfortable.
Check in process was easy and enjoyable.
My room was just okay. 2543. I like that the window opens but I wish it opened more than 4 inches. The toilet is sometimes super loud. Like the keurig and the sound machine and radio. Nice that there is a fridge but it was a tad to small to really fit things. Free wifi was nice. View is not so nice.
The housekeeper was very friendly.
The water at Perks and in the mini bar is so expensive and the sink water is disgusting.
Room service was fast and tasty. A little expensive for what you get. I ate dinner that way twice and the other two times I walked to Gibsons. I prefered the nights I walked to Gibsons. It is an easy walk and the food was better AND cheaper. Had the steak with asparagus the first time and the arancini and flatbread the second time. Definetly didn’t need to order arancini and flatbread. One would have made a decent meal.
The conference rooms were comfortable and easy to navigate but a tad bit to small. Trying to squeeze between the round tables (had they been not quite as big the situation would have been better and accommodated table discussions better) when people were sitting in the chairs.
Had the hotel lunch buffet one day — pasta and meatballs and bread sticks. The meatballs were good as was the marinara sauce on plain noodles. I did not like the ziti with orange cheese or the bread stick. Didn’t even try the carrot cake but heard it was icky.
I liked that Perks was willing to make fresh iced tea for me everyday. The scone was really good. The line would get crazy long though and I would be late to conferences after waiting in it so long.
The biggest bummer of my stay was that I forgot my new cell phone charger plugged into the room when I checked out. I called the hotel 3 times. Left my name/​number with housekeeping. They verbalized that they would look into the situation and return my call. I never heard from them again. :(

Meh, a little outdated. Shortcuts were seemingly taken on renovatons. The doors in the room were old and very worn. Old tub with new tiles on the wall. ++Very nice staff, which is a huge plus.

I had an one night stay here due to flight delays, I am a Hyatt guy but not a big fan of airport hotels, but this was a free hotel room after a 15 hours of flying. I got in late, and got into my room and pretty much passed out, showered, than got back to the airport. The hotel room was clean, but felt they slapped nice looking furnishings made poorly and it was showing wear and tear after a few years.
This hotel is huge, so there were weddings, seminars, and lots of stuck travellers crammed in this monster of a hotel.

I stayed here over a weekend for a work training event. I got a small room, which was ok, but I was missing some of the toiletries and even though I called and waited 2 hours, never got them. I had to go down to the front desk and then wait for help and wait for them to go get them. I also didn’t have a room service menu and ended up just grabbing something from the café they had. I asked for a menu and I did get it many hours later.
I was happy to be in this training and have some alone time, so short of my room catching on fire or being dirty, I didn’t really care where I stayed.
I liked how close it was to the outlet mall and walked over there Saturday night for some exercise and shopping therapy.
I’m not sure I would stay here with my husband as I like them to pay attention to me or at least give the appearance that they are.

For a brand name hotel charging more than $ 200 for a room, I’m really disappointed at its service and hardware.
Stayed there for two nights with family. The location is close to airport, which is convenient. But the service and room is no matching for its price.
We got hard time finding our rooms after check in. The room number and the key simply does not match. After I confirming with the front desk, we were told that our rooms were in another wing, which needs to talk through a long corridor to another set of elevators. Shouldn’t he told us this critical info right when we got our keys, instead of letting us got confused wondering around?
The phone in our room does not work at all and I had to get the front desk again. Five mins later a technician showed up and found the phone plug was loose at the wall. Shouldn’t this be checked before they giving us the room?
And for a $ 200 room, that was some lousy mattress! Every time I rolled over, the bed made the loudest noise like the spring was gonna break. It was so loud that all the family in the room could hear it. I called the front desk to complain, and they promised to send in someone to take a look. Guess what, that guy never showed up until we checked out.
And $ 25 for overnight guest parking… if the hotel is located at Chicago city center, sure I get it. But it’s near airport and the land price is not that expensive, shouldn’t the parking be free?
And of course, no complimentary breakfast…
In general, totally disappointed.

We rented out a banquet hall here and the staff are very accommodating and welcoming. We had to move some equipment into the building a week before the event and they let us put it in a room that no one was using. Everyone from the gentlemen at the front (who helps you unload and park your cars), to the front desk, to the banquet hall staff were just amazing. The blew me away with their service, whoever trains all these staff members are doing an excellent job.
The banquet hall was beautiful. They had a huge dance floor and it can easily fit 500 guests. The appetizers were really good. We had a 4 course meal provided by Hyatt, the soup was great, everything else was average.
Good to know: parking is free for all guests who attend the event at the banquet hall and guests who stay the night at the hotel and leave the next day at noon. Like I said… accommodating.
We also rented a double bed room for $ 100 ($ 124 including tax). It was flawless, and room service and housekeeping were quick to respond to my requests. Something that bothered me was they close housekeeping from 1 or 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM. So if you need any pillows, blankets or bed sheets, ask for it before midnight! They also have free standard wifi, which is good enough for everything on your phone (snapchat, email,
etc).
The day after the event, we had a brunch on their top floor. It was a cool venue and you can see the skyline from it. The food was delicious but it must have been expensive to have that up their. It was all self-​serve, but they still had waiters who went around filling your cups with water or juice and asking if you need anything.

I bought a two night stay at this hotel through Priceline (name your own price). The rate I haggled on was great but unfortunately the parking fees here were $ 25/​day. This is extremely steep for self parking in a garage. At least give me in and out valet service for this price in Rosemont. These are downtown Chicago prices.
I found the room to be clean and quiet and the bed was comfortable (I had a good nights sleep for once).
I didn’t use any of the amenities or eat at the hotel because it looked pricey and the menu wasn’t interesting me. I found a Mediterranean restaurant nearby (see my review for Shawarma Inn) and also a breakfast spot (Tiffany’s Restaurant and Bar has a review too) that were both delicious and reasonably priced. The hotel is near Rivers Casino and within walking distance to movies and shopping.
