Mirage Nails & Waxing

Well, since every other time I’d been to Mirage Nails & Waxing I’d had a good experience, I decided to give them another chance. Big mistake. I walked in and asked for the same thing as last time, to have my eyebrows waxed. It was a different (very young looking) woman who waxed my eyebrows this time. Well, at least she tried to. She took me to the back, and thank God wasn’t on the phone like the woman who «helped» me last time had been. Well, she did my right eyebrow first. Let me tell you, when you have wax on your face, and the woman working on you pulls the strip not nearly fast or forcefully enough to pull the hair out, that is REALLY painful. When the first word you hear her say next is «oops,» it’s somewhat terrifying! I should have demanded to see a mirror at that exact moment. I guess I’m just too shy for things like that or something. So she proceeded to put wax under my left eyebrow, then screwed up in the exact same way on that side, and again just says «oops.» Wtf?! So she grabbed a pair of tweezers to finish what she started. It was far more painful than having a strip pulled off in less than a second is. I was thinking the entire time she was tweeting my eyebrows «I asked for waxing, NOT TWEEZING, not to mention I have tweezers at home that I don’t have to pay to use!» She charged me the normal price. I even tipped her. I know! I know! I think it’s because I was a server for so long that I can’t stiff someone on a tip, even if they did a horrific job. Looking in the mirror when I arrived home I realized that she hadn’t even ½ waxed and ½ tweezed my eyebrows evenly. I swear, if I go back there again, someone b*tch slap me!

Went today for my gel manicure and Melti did an amazing job plus the massage (my favorite part) was great! Besides the gel
Mani being more pricey then other places near I love this place because of how clean and OCD everything is!

It’s hard to find a good place with technicians as anal and OCD as yourself without making your wallet cry, especially in MoCo. That being said, for a $ 42 (35 for full set, extra 6 for white tips) French tip full set, Kat did an amazing job. She’s so sweet and accommodating, never pushes or pressures you, and does an amazing job paying attention to detail. She made sure I was happy with the shape of the nail, and when I asked that she make them look more natural, she went above and beyond to buff them down so they didn’t look ridiculously plump and fake. She respected that I didn’t want to make too much conversation at times, but when I felt a bit more at ease, she was very easy to talk to — and funny too!
TL;DR — Affordable prices for the area, meticulous staff. Go see Kat!

Okay pedicure. Unprofessional staff. For a more expensive option in the area I expected more. Disappointed in the customer service and effort put into the pedicure. Will not be coming back. Note to mgmt– when your staff is talking shit in another language it’s still rude and that is the impression you leave with you customers. I recommend patrons take their business to Luxury Nails on the corner of 355 and Shady Grove.

They do a good job but it takes forever. Not only that but every time I’ve had an appointment, I’ve had to wait 30 minutes for them to get to me. It’s like they accommodate the walk in instead of the scheduled appointment. Customer service sucks! Today I walked out and I won’t be back!

so torn on this place. I came here back in May and while I didn’t have an appt. they kept on doing the obnoxious «will be 2 minutes» and then i waited and waited and literally never got seen. like, if you cannot take me just be honest and don’t waste my time.
so i came back in august as i was here again for work and they did the SAME THING to me which is so annoying!!!
BUt i finally was seen and i did get a bomb gel manicure. they were VERY meticiluous and worked very carefully to make it great. i loved the color and it was honestly a GREAT service but way too expensive.
37 fucking dollars for a gel mani??? i am from boston and at most it is 25 and they do a great job, too. wtf?
probably will not ever come back as their wait blows.

I have now been to Mirage two times and both times I have not had any issues. This time I was especially thankful because I had just gotten off of work at a camp where we had tie-​dyed and I had dye all over me. Tracy took the time to take most of the dye off with acetone even though it was not interfering with my nails at all. Also, even though it was around closing time and there was only me and one other customer there I did not feel that they rushed at all.
The lady who checked me in helped me pick out my color as I was unsure which way to go. I had a dress I wanted them to coordinate with and within 2 minutes she had the perfect color picked for me.
I am unsure of the lady whom did my design but she was amazing. She picked colors that went so well with my dress and even went as far to make my toes and fingers match even though I told her she did not have to.

I’ve been to Mirage Nails over a dozen times. They are always able to accommodate a walk in. I have found that all of their technicians do a nice job (I get gel manicures and pedicures there). The nail tools are sanitized, the salon is clean, they have a nice selection of colors and the prices are reasonable. When I was there though I witnessed an exchange that I felt could have been handled better by management. A customer on a Thursday evening paid by check. The salon does not take checks. The customer alleged to not have any other method of payment on her which I’ll admit seemed odd to me but a woman (either an owner or manager of the salon) got into a yelling match with this customer about this. From at least 6 feet away I could hear the salon rep yelling that there is a sign up front about no checks and requesting that the customer leave her cell phone at the salon until she returned with the $ 28 payment which the customer refused to do. The customer did offer to return the next morning with cash when her bank re-​opened and ultimately got equally sassy and was yelling that the salon should call the police and starting cussing. The whole scene over $ 28 was so uncomfortable and honestly a little frightening. While I understand the salon’s concern and will admit the customer too could have deflected the situation from escalating I felt like the management of the salon should have been more considerate of the other customers witnessing this in the salon. The customer ultimately had a friend bring her $ 28 but the whole exchange was unprofessional in my opinion and I’m not sure if I will continue to patronize this salon as I’m not sure I agree someone should be treated this way over $ 28.

I have never felt so PRESSURED to get a Gel mani before in my life. Ever! On top of that, she never offered to show me how much more it was. All she said was «it’s more». Granted I should have pulled my hands away to go look at the price, but I didn’t. COMPLETELY OVER PRICED!
I will never EVER GO THERE AGAIN. I’ll be sure to tell my friends and family not to as well! Horrible service and respect for their clients.

I came here for the first time last week. I came in when it was not crowded, and was a walk-​in & got immediate service. I could imagine it being more difficult when it’s crowded.
The atmosphere was relaxing and clean. Fifi did my nails & she was awesome. Great pedi & french mani– she was very attentive to detail, which I liked. Didn’t rush anything. It’s been a week and my nails still haven’t chipped.
I’m concerned about the other reviews because they are mostly horrible– it seems they need to get a better staff & pay them fairly.

Tip well because they don’t pay their workers fairly.

I haven’t gotten my nails done many times, but this was by far the best place I have gone to. A few friends and I went in for pedicures. The first thing I noticed was that here was no noxious smell when we walked in, unlike some places I have been to. Everything seemed clean, relaxing, and sterile. We had an appointment and they were ready for us right away (granted it wasn’t too busy because it was in the middle of a weekday). The ladies that worked on us were all very pleasant with plenty of smiles. I got a great foot massage and I didn’t feel rushed at all. All of our nails turned out beautifully, and they were very skilled at the nail art that we requested. I would definitely come back. They take credit cards (but not for tips).

Ive been here once before to get my eyebrows waxed. Service was ok. Not great, not bad, just ok and since it’s the only nail place in the area and it’s close to job and expressway, I decided stop by after work to get those same service again.
Now it was crowded, and when I came in there were two women sitting in chairs waiting, another picking out nail colors and another woman had came in behind me. I told them what I wanted, lip and eyebrow wax, and they told me to go back to the room and someone will be with me shortly.
No biggie. I don’t have a problem waiting for services. So I went to the back room and hopped on Twitter and Facebook book to pass the time. Soon I looked at my clocked notice that 15 minutes had passed.
15 minutes.
No one came to check in on me or give me some sort of update.
When I stepped out of the room, I noticed the woman who came in after me sitting in a chair getting her nails done.
Um, excuse me? Really? Ok then. I won’t be coming back.

The customer service deplorable. I have been there a few times always hoping it will be better; but it never is. Yesterday was the worst and I won’t be going back. The technician, Helen, was rough and the pedicure was painful.
Every time, I have been there they opening complain about customers and are extremely rude. The technician went so far as to complain about another customer in the shop to me while doing my manicure.
The services are average; but given how disrespectful they are to customers, I would not recommend them.

This is my second time visiting the shop and I received excellent service again! Cindy was very attentive and took her time with my fill in. My nails look beautiful. The staff is friendly and they really seem to care about their customers.

I came here after a bad experience elsewhere. I got a gel fill in. They turned out nice. I would come back but the customer service was lacking. I felt rushed.

I’ve been here a few time for manicures and they are great! Gel manicures are the best I have had anywhere! Highly recommend!

Now I kind of see why they have 3 stars I will be totally honest I came in expecting to relax and get my toes and nails done. I mean I’m from California so I never spend much on my nails they where a little pricy for mediocre not so much of a big deal service.
Now I was sort of in a bad mood because I was having issues with my bank card while in the middle of getting this done. My pedicure was fine the lady kind of kept cutting me and it didn’t feel good. She seemed to have gotten upset because I didn’t purchase one of her upsells but I don’t have to and if I don’t you can’t get upset from the moment I said no I could feel the difference in her working on me.
Then when we got the nail part she did my fill so sloppy I had big bubbles in them and I was more upset because she kept cutting me with the drill … And I told her if she couldn’t do it without hurting me I want a different person. I really don’t like that because one time a person cut me bad. And who likes being cut? Nobody then she did my nails but one thing I can say about her is she try’s to make you comfortable so I say she should work on her drill experience and having a better reaction to people not wanting to upsell and she will be fine.

Friendly, hard-​working staff overall. Very UNpleasant manager. Looking for an alternative. Similar problem at Victoria Nails, only not as bad.
She is surly and speaks to me (and I’m sure to others) by pointing a finger to direct me to a seat as if I were a prisoner in Communist China. (It’s nearly the same at Victoria Nails.)
CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A SALON WHERE THE MANAGEMENT IS FRIENDLY AND WHOSE PREVIOUS JOB WASN’T WORKING FOR THE VIET CONG?

I have gone to Mirage a total of 3 times even though I was not completely satisfied because it’s so convenient to my home and office. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.
My most recent trip there was terrible. I went during my lunch break and needed a fill-​in. I asked the technician how long the wait was and how long it would take to get my nails done. She answered with no wait and only 40 minutes. I said perfect and proceeded to walk over to the station. The woman was taking my polish off and once she was done she went to the back. I waited and waited and asked where she went and they said she didn’t work here and that she just took my nail polish off to save time. Um… ok, I guess? After about a 10 minute wait my technician finally came over. I told her that I didn’t have enough time and that I would come back that evening. She said no no and how she can finish the job very quickly. I said okay and proceeded with the manicure. Needless to say, my nails looked terrible! She slabbed the acrylic on very thick, my nails were not even, and my polish was not clean.
I told her I wasn’t happy and if she could fix a few minor things and she replied back with, «I thought you had no time?» I was shocked at what she had said. I didn’t have time for them to re-​do my nails and when it was time to pay she tried to charge me extra for gel acrylic when that’s not the product I used. I asked for the manager and of course he/​she wasn’t there. I just paid and did not tip. She was furious and stated to yell at my in Vietnamese…
Long story short… service is terrible, technicians don’t do a good job, over all unsatisfied.
