I would not, under any circumstances, recommend Dr Ochi to anyone– even to my worst enemy. He is arrogant and refuses to listen to the patient. For example, he did dental work that I did not authorize, he kept me in dental temporaries for over a year, and when I expressed my unhappiness over the implants he wanted to use he told me I «should go see someone else if I thought they could do a better job.» Dr. Ochi refuses to release my records to me, or even explain what I am being billed for! However, he has no problem referring me to a collection agency, despite the fact that I have no idea why he is billing me.

Went to Dr. Ochi for the first time yesterday after getting a referral to him from my children’s dentist. I have to say that I was extremely impressed. His entire staff was super friendly and professional. I was taken around and introduced to the rest of the staff but only after being asked if I was okay with that. My cleaning was super thorough and gentle. X-​Rays went fine. And no issues with billing my insurance. I definitely would recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist in the SB.

Dr. Ochi and his entire staff, from front office to hygienists, are simply the best. They are incredibly thorough and knowledgable and have amazing people skills. I trust, respect and fully endorse Dr. Ochi and his practice.

I wouldn’t recommend this office because of the office staff. Dr. Ochi himself is kind and knowledgable, but I found the billing department to be unorganized and careless. This caused me to waste a lot of time on back and forth with them.
For example, there was a bill that I had a question on (whether it was my responsibility to pay it or the office’s responsibility). In March they told me they would follow up with me, the next communication I got was in May saying they were sending my bill to a collection agency. When I followed up, after several phone calls back and forth they took responsibility for the billI and paid it, but it was a time consuming and frustrating experience — in my view very unprofessional on their end.
I’ve also experienced inconsistency in my experiences here — some positive, some negative including wait times and lots of changes to previously scheduled appointments (by their office staff).

I have been going to Dr Ochi and his practice for all my dental needs for many years. When Ire-​married I brought my wife and step daughter here also We all find Ochi Dental to be a really excellent practice and have nothing but the highest praise for all who work here! I woudl recommend Ochi Dental to anyone looking for a quality practice in this area.

This place is a sweat shop. I went for a routnine cleaning as I am new to the area. The intial cleaning seemingly went okay other than being rather awkward. They try and be friendly by parading you around to introduce you to every single person in the office. This is all fine however I felt very uncofortable standing over other patients wide open mouths to interupt the dental techs to meet and greet. It was uncomfortable for me when it came my turn to sit in the chair and have a stranger come in to meet my tech during my cleaning. After the cleaning I was offered a sleep study and provided a testing device to take home and use for three nights. Apparently I have some issue with grinding my teeth and this device will help pinpoint the problem. I signed for the device and used it as prescribed. I was offered instructions on the device and told if it is damaged or lost I owe $ 2250 to replace the device. That was fine, I am responsible and didnt plan to break or damage the thing. What I was not informed of was that I was to be charged $ 150 dollars to rent this thing which never found out about until after I returned to find out the results of this sleep study. I came back two weeks later to have a tooth I had chipped fixed and to get the sleep test results. I was hard sold on a «mouth appliance» that costs $ 2000-​$ 3000 dollars for phase I of treatment and an additional $ 8000 to complete Phase II of treatment. This hard sell lasted an hour and fifteen minutes. After and hour and fifteen minutes the dentist left to tend to other patients. We still had not completed the hard sell or begun to fix my chipped tooth. Fifteen more minutes went by and I am sitting alone in the chair waiting for the dentist to return. After a full one and a half hours at the dentist and still not accomplishing anything I got up and notfied the front desk I had to leave for a work appointment. I think a hour and a half is a reasonable amount of time to do what needs to be done at a dental office outside the scope of any major dental surgeries. The front desk said thats fine and they would call to reschedule. They kind of rolled their eyes indicating this was typical and they had seen this before. Did not give me a real comforting feeling. They never called to reschedule. I still have a chipped tooth. I made the wrong choice coming to this dentist and now need to find a new dentist in the area. They did however make sure they called to surprise me with a $ 150 bill on the rental of this sleep study device which provided zero value to me. I have gone to the dentist all 34 years I have been alive. To date I have had great luck apparently as I had never had any issues with my dentist or dental office staff. This time I was unlucky. I would not reccomend this dental office. I am not a picky person and dont complain about much at all. I have never written a Unilocal or any type of online review either positive or negative. I do not like being surprised with bills or fees. I really do not like having to pay bills I disagree with. I paid this bill after I received a 30 day late notice on this bill as I could see where this was going and go to great lengths to maintain a clean credit rating.

I hadn’t been to the dentist in over four years because of several bad and painful experiences. I finally made an appointment with Dr. Ochi because a good friend and my children’s dentist recommended him. His office was night and day from what I had experienced before. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable from the minute you walk in the door.
I had extensive work done to fix all of the bad dentistry I had received prior. It was all done with almost zero pain. I am so happy with my «new» set of teeth. I actually feel proud of them.

A friend referred me to Dr, Ochi and I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Ochi and the staff there. Always super friendly AND extremely helpful. If you are looking for an honest, caring and friendly Dentist, Dr. Ochi is your man!

I’ve been a patient of Dr Ochi for 25 years! He is stellar and one of a kind, I send all my friends here. All of the hygienists are so nice and really care for the patients. The front office staff is great as well!

THE BEST! Dr. Ochi is awesome. Lin is the BEST dental hygienist around! She is really thorough and cleans my teeth until they are squeaky and bright! Thank you Lin! and Thanks DR Ochi for running such a wonderful business.

Dr. Ochi is simply the best dentist ever. I’m getting married this weekend and about a month ago (yes, I said a month!!!) I decided I wanted to replace my top right front tooth, which was a bulky, discolored, and cracked veneer. I got a referral from a friend who told me Dr. Ochi could work wonders, so I decided to give him a try even though I live in Burbank.
Anyway, I always knew my old veneer was ugly, but I really didn’t know bad it really was until Dr. Ochi put in my new veneer this week. The new tooth is amazing. No one can tell it’s not my natural tooth!
I’m not gonna lie. .. I was really worried it wasn’t going to look good because it’s my front tooth and I’ve had it veneered two times before by two different dentists, and it looked fake both times because they couldn’t match the size, color and shape of the veneer with the real tooth next to it. I asked Dr. Ochi to replace the old veneer and do a new veneer on my top left front tooth so they would match, but he convinced me I didn’t need to that because the left tooth was fine and it would be a waste of time and money, since he was confident he could match it (imagine an honest dentist that convinces you NOT to do needless procedures. .. this is why I am going to keep driving down to the South Bay for my dental needs).
So needless to say, this time it was totally different. I am still shocked by how good it looks. I’m very happy. Thanks Dr. Ochi!!!

I’ve been going to Ochi Dental for the past three years and I’ve always been happy with the level of care and experience.
He’s not the most convenient dentist for me to go to since I live on the Westside and their office is located deep into Redondo, but I’m comfortable now and don’t want change.
I go to Jennifer for my dental hygiene. She’s gentle with the scraper (ugh) and asks periodically how I’m doing. Dr. Ochi sold me on the Sonicare toothbrush three years ago and I’ve been using it since, of course at Costco prices.
But it’s the nice touches the office has that adds to the five stars — On your first visit they’ll walk you around the office and introduce you to all the staff. After you’re done with your dental procedure they give you a warm towel for refreshing yourself.
