Absolutely loved this place and took our cars there for everything. went in today for my sisters car and it looks like they closed. So sad to see them go

Great people very friendly and very fast with professional work. My engine blew and they were able to drop the engine quickly so that I can rebuild it and get my car back on the road. The prices are very good and I highly recommend them.

I’m a single woman and didn’t know where to go for work on my suv, then I was told by a friend to try A1 Automotive for work on my Toyota Highlander. They are friendly, have reasonable prices and do great work. I highly recommend A1 Automotive.

I usually don’t leave bad reviews, but feel I need to on this occasion. I have been coming to A-​1 for around 4 years and have referred many people to them. Dave (the father) has always been knowledgeable and seemed like he cared about his work. I never felt like I was getting shoddy work. They have never been good communicators, but I felt that was a small price to pay to get a reputable mechanic.
The last several times I’ve taken my vehicles there, I’ve dealt with the son (not sure of name) He is always rushed and gives an attitude often. Several months back, my vehicle started sounding like a motor boat. I dropped it off at A-​1 and was told the wheel/​hub bearings needed replaced. I was leaving to go out of the country a week later and indicated so. It was not done by then, so I had my 70 yo mother who was house sitting pick it up and pay the almost $ 500 charge.
Within two days of picking it up, my mother said it sounded like the wheels were going to fall off. She called and spoke to the son and was told with an attitude that they would look at it but it was probably a different problem. She took it back in and had to get a rental in the meantime. It ended up being the same problem.
By the time I got back into the country, the car was back and the sound was gone. That lasted 3 weeks. Again, the same loud noise, seemingly coming from the wheels. I took it back in. After another week of rental car charges, I was told that the problem was the transmission output bearing. They charged me $ 90 and said that if I had «their» transmission guy do the work they would put the $ 90 towards the cost of that. I asked if the transmission guy could look at it to verify the problem. Two days later, when my rental was up, I called and the transmission guy still hadn’t looked at it.
I picked the car up and drove on it for about 3 weeks to try to save up the large amount of money it was going to cost to get the transmission worked on. My husband suggested I get a second opinion. I was referred to a guy who is a mechanic at the Honda dealership. He did transmissions and other regular work. I felt this would be the best way to get a true opinion, since I had a Honda.
Within 2 minutes of looking at it, he said it definitely wasn’t the transmission. He said it sounded like the wheel bearings but he wouldn’t know for sure if one or both were bad until he got it up on a lift. He said the H? onda wheel bearings are very hard to put on properly and you really have to know what you’re doing.
Once he got it on a lift, he confirmed it was both wheel/​hub bearings. He also indicated there was no way the existing ones were only 3 months old. He said they didn’t look like they had been changed at all. I had him change them (another $ 500)
I’ve had the car back a month now, and it is still running/​sounding fine. I didn’t want to leave a bad review unless I was sure this guy wasn’t making the same mistake thinking it was the wheel bearings instead of transmission.
Unfortunately A-​1 has lost a very loyal customer. I have referred a lot of business to them and I’m saddened they have turned into another shop that is just out to take your money. I thought about contacting them back to maybe recoup some of the money I spent on the wheel bearings, but frankly I don’t want them laying a hand on my car anymore. :(

Really great customer service. Technicians are nice and know what they’re talking about. Made an appt for an oil change after I bought a groupon and they finished my oil change within 20 minutes! Now that’s service!

I got a $ 29 groupon to get 2 oil changes here. Semisynthetic so it’s a great freaking deal.

These guys are pros.
I came in because my car was overheating, wound up needing a new radiator, thermostat, and hoses. They got the parts needed and gave me a fair price.
The work quality was top notch and quick. I had to wait for them to do the work there since I had no other rides available, and they got me in and out in a few hours.
hey kept me updated every hour or so about where they were at and what was needed and/​or being done.
I will keep coming back whenever I need to get work done to these guys, no question.
Strongly recommend these professional, honest guys.

Have spent thousands at this place and they can never fix my truck properly. Finally learned my lesson, never returning. They seem to have good intentions, but don’t know their stuff.

Got my brakes done here recently. Why do I feel the need to tell everyone that? Because hands down these guys are the best. If you need a reliable place to bring your car and just want honest service for honest price do yourself a favor and bring your car into A-​1.

These guys are great! Love how knowledgeable they are and how are willing to help me out when I only have a little bit of time to get my oil changed on my lunch break. Will definitely be going back.

It’s hard to find a mechanic to trust these days. I’ve had a few nightmares of my own over the years. So when I trusted Unilocal to help me find a new mechanic this time around, I had my doubts. But I have to say, these guys are probably in my top 5 for best mechanics of all time.
I’ve taken my car to them several times now. They always do great work. Everyone there is personable and easy to talk to. It’s a very friendly environment. They are diligent about getting things done well and quickly. Their prices are very fair compared to other local shops. They are a spot on shop business-​wise.
Two minor drawbacks to A-​1 would be their location, which was a little hard to find the first time. And the fact that they are closed on Saturdays. Take your car too late on Friday, and expect to go a weekend without your car. These issues don’t reflect in my rating, but they are something you should be prepared for if you do business with them.
The only negative point I found with A-​1, is their inability to use a phone. If they say it will be done by 4pm, and you don’t call them… you probably won’t hear from them until the next day at the end of the day IF at all. This has been an annoyance to me when dealing with them on several occasions, and is the only reason they aren’t getting higher than a 3 STAR RATING from me.
But trust me, when it comes to everything else about them, they are «A #1» in my book. For speed, price, friendliness, and quality work… there aren’t many in this area that can beat A-​1 Automotive.

I was looking for a shop to do the recommended 65K service, so based on the great reviews I came to this place. Everything went well, and they even gave me a small discount for paying with cash. I spoke with the owner’s son (I can’t remember his name) about what service I had to do next and he told me to come back when my odometer read 75K for a fuel filter replacement, drive belt, spark plugs and wires. I’ve now reached 75K so I called other shops to see if I was getting a fair deal with A-​1. Apparently, the fuel filter isn’t even a serviceable part and I was quoted $ 98. I was also told that the rest of the parts I was told to replace don’t really need to be done until later.

After a horrible experience with the dealership, I turned to Unilocal to help me find a mechanic in the area. There is a reason why A-​1 is rated so high. These guys are Honest and trustworthy.
It’s hard to find a mechanics like this.

It all started with a battle of 2 cars: my BF’s, and mine. We’re moving back east in the summer, and can only take 1 with us, but which one? So we brought both of them to A-​1 and asked them to give both cars a quick look to see which one would cost less to fix (because they BOTH needed some work). Dave only charged us $ 40 (total) to do this, and it only took about an hour.
The winner? My car! He went ahead and told us what important things need to be repaired on each car. The BF’s car is so old, Dave didn’t even print out a list because he said it would be too expensive, and to just go with my car, because it only needs a couple of things repaired.
So after a few weeks of saving, we brought my car back to A-​1 to get the necessary repairs: a new oil pan, a new water housing adapter, and a tuneup.
I brought my car in on Monday, and received a call EVERY day to let me know the status of the car (they had to order parts), what they’ve found wrong, how much it’ll cost to repair it, and whether or not it was worth spending the $ for it right now.
Absolutely the best customer service EVER! Consistent, upfront and honest, and no sales pressure!
I spent about $ 500 for a new oil pan, water housing adapter, and tuneup. He recommended I get new brakes in about 6 – 7 months, but that right now it’s a non-​issue.
My dad worked as a layout technician for Chrysler over 30 years, so no one can BS me when it comes to cars. A-​1 Automotive was fantastic, I’d highly recommend them to EVERYONE.
