Burnie Fireplace Services & Chimney Sweeps

I was trying to find someone to reface my fireplace so I reached out to Burnie! Even though Burnie was unable to help me, he referred me to someone who could. It’s great to see that people are willing to share a lead with another business rather than killing the deal. Business to Business is how we grow and we need more people like Burnie… doing exactly like that. A big «Thank You» to Burnie for referring me… NOW that is also known as GREAT customer service!

Pat arrived on time, explained everything thoroughly including what the costs would be. It turned out I didn’t need a sweep (he could easily have said it needed one) and installed a cap to keep out the birds and rodents.
The cost was quite reasonable, I highly recommend this company.

Wonderful and very kind company. Although we did not use their services in was very much pleased with the customer service they provided.
Their prices are fair and very reasonable for this time of year (being spring).
Only reason we didn’t book was because of scheduling, and we booked someone else who was also right in the same price range.
We will keep them just in case for reference or a future use.

Pat and Bernie did an excellent job setting up the fireplace at our home and inspecting the chimney. I knew nothing about fireplaces and learned a lot from Pat. He is extremely knowledgeable and has years of experience. We also ordered new fireplace doors and they installed those as well. We highly recommend them to anyone who needs anything related to their fireplace/​chimney.

Super friendly, well informed. Showed up on time, as scheduled, even though I was asking for rain/​leaking related fix (their busiest time). I loved the no-​pressure approach. They didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need, and were able to quickly diagnose the problem and offer several solutions. Turns out, I really didn’t need anything, as it was just bad luck with horizontal rain and a less-​than-​ideal cap design. These guys will definitely be back for a sweep before next Xmas!

Our HOA hired this company to inspect the fireplace in each unit. I called and left a voicemail message. No call back. I called a second time and Burnie scheduled the appt. for the next day, Tuesday at 9:00am. Pat her husband was a no show. Of course when I called the office no one answered. Burnie later called and said Pat had gone to my unit at 8:30. I said our appt. was for 9:00AM and Burnie said I never said that. He needs a half hour window. Not sure why since they were already working in our complex. The second appt. Pat actually showed up but not sure why he did since he had already been on my roof the day before and spilled debris on my back patio. Several weeks passed and they posted a notice which stated the job had been completed but the debris was still on my back patio. Not very professional!!! I guess they didn’t feel they needed to provide any customer service to the unit owners since the HOA had already given them the job.

These people don’t show up when they say the will or call back when they say they will (or sometimes even at all). Once they did come out to survey our fireplace/​chimney, they were supposed to send us a quote… they never did. They must not need or want our business, which is fine, but the professional thing to do would be to say that from the get go.

Bernie came out to service a gas log fireplace that was putting out a lot of soot. He found several problems which he quickly repaired and now we have a safer, more efficient fireplace. And he did not leave any mess whatsoever. Thanks Bernie!

Bernie and Pat are fabulous. I needed a new prefabricated backing for my fireplace and did not have the model number. I took some pictures and they knew just by looking at it the model number. They ordered the parts I needed and installed it a couple weeks later. When doing the install, Pat went above and beyond, cleaning the fireplace, fixing parts and I did not know needed fixing, made it functional again and made the fireplace look pretty. He even asked me if I wanted my new back panel painted black to match the other sides, painted it right there on the spot and didn’t charge me extra for it. There is no nickel and diming here! They provide excellent customer service and do a great job. Highly recommend Burnie Fireplace Services!

Pat and Bernie are a husband and wife team that focus purely on cleaning and repairing your fireplace. Not only are they masters of their craft but they genuinely care about ensuring their customers are 100% satisfied.
They may not be the very cheapest but do you really want the cheapest company doing a job you will never be able to verify how well they did??? Bernie will take his time and clean or repair your chimney/​fireplace 100%. AND he will show you what he did so you can rest assured that the job was done well!

I don’t know anything about fireplaces (other than the fire part), so a dishonest company could tell me my fireplace needs a new Flux Capacitor (lame movie reference) and I wouldn’t know any better. I chose Burnie’s based on their positive Unilocal reviews, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice.
Pat was very friendly and professional and thoroughly explained all of our repair/​service options. In the end, I paid a lot less than I expected. In one visit, they made me their loyal customer!

I had a very good experience with Bernie. He came out to inspect my chimney to see if it needed a sweeping. It did. However, many other repairs were required before the chimney and fireplace could be functional, and the sweeping should be done last. He said he wouldn’t charge me for the visit, but still spent a lot of time explaining the repairs required to the best of his ability, and referred me to masonry specialist to do the work. I was extremely impressed with his patience with my multiple questions. He did not rush out even though he would not be performing any work. From our interaction, I believe he is a genuine person and does care about his customers, paying or not. Scheduling with Pat via email was also very quick and easy! Once my fireplace is fixed I will definitely schedule with them again.

Honest and reasonable. Called to evaluate crack in the reflector box, and… wasn’t a problem for now, though he could have told me it was and I’d have believed him. I really appreciated the straightforward evaluation, replaced the screen, and cleaning. MY GO TO for Fireplace service now.

Bernie and Pat are a special team. That are personable, kind and talented. They are skilled and take the time to educate so that everything they see, discover and recommend makes sense. Bernie Fireplace Service is an outstanding professional fireplace service. We arranged for them to service an entire HOA community and they have the patience of a saint. Working with numerous households and schedules they completed all tasks without any issues. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED.

These two run a stellar operation, with Bernie providing great communication (scheduling, quotes, invoices, payment) and Pat doing the inspection and repair work. Pat initially came out to fix a corroded gas starter manifold in the fireplace of our new house. While he was there, he identified a fire hazard at the top of the chimney due to a roofing company installing the wrong flue termination cap. Our prefabricated fireplace box is ~30 years old, but Pat knew exactly how it worked, what the correct manufacturer’s parts were, and how to bring it up to code. He also took time to explain how the system is meant to work and left us copies of literature explaining air flows and common problems due to incorrect installations. The fix itself was reasonably priced, and they even took $ 200 off the original quote because they had to use fewer parts than expected. That’s the kind of honesty that keeps me coming back to a company. Give them a call, and you will be impressed.

Wow, I’m so happy companies like this exist! I called Burnie’s upon moving to our new home because the flue didn’t close all the way. The woman who answered the phone explained in detail about our gas fireplace and I didn’t even end up needing someone to come out! Seems like a very honest, reliable company, with great customer service. Definitely the company you want to go with for your fireplace issues!

Pat just left here. What a perfectly honest and friendly guy. We had a flue problem and were worried that we would be «sold» a bill of goods about how we had to replace this and that etc.
But, no… Pat came out, took a look and said that it was just frozen up from not being lubricated (who knew that you had to get in there and lubricate it, maybe it’s just me). Anyway, he lubricated it and it is perfectly fine. Asked how much for the service call and he said for that, if you want to give me enough for a sandwich, that would be fine. We knew that any other service call would be at least $ 30 to $ 50 or more. We were so overwhelmed by his honesty and help that we did give him the $ 30. He was very grateful and told us it was generous of us. What a guy.
If you have a fireplace problem and don’t call for Pat, you are making a very big mistake. Honesty that is just so hard to find these days.

I can’t recommend Burnie Fireplace Services enough! Pat and his team were very responsive and professional.
I was referred to Burnie by Swede Sweep (see the review for them as well) because I had bees moving into my chimney. Being deathly allergic, I needed someone to come out ASAP. Burnie’s came out, swept the chimney and then solved our bee problem by installing a special damper at the top of the chimney. They were honest, explained everything well and didn’t leave a speck of dirt behind.
