Description

Specialties

The Poughkeepsie Ice House is the anchor for the Queen Bee City of Poughkeepsie. The historic Hudson River Valley waterfront brick building features old world charm, walking distance to the Poughkeepsie Metro North Train Station and the Walkway over the Hudson. Public boat docking and waterfront dining both inside and out are available. Our food is casually sophisticated with seasonal and local inspired menus. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff coupled with our fun, upbeat atmosphere make this Poughkeepsie’s waterfront dining experience for the whole family.

History

Established in 2012.

Before refrigeration, ice was harvested from the Hudson River and hauled in massive blocks from the river on elevators powered by steam engines. The ice was stored in icehouses, such as the Poughkeepsie Ice House, that lined the Hudson River.
