I’ve almost gave up on Chinese restaurants in pdx after all these identical menu at Cantonese places. Husband assured me of trying more. I started researching on Unilocal on all Chinese places that we haven’t tried. This is the one I’m surprised we never noticed. Cheaper than pure spice, but tastes not worse at all. Larger space and better service. I love the cleanliness and the family atmosphere here. Their BBQ closet looks so clean and price is good too! In husband’s words: its chi is centered. I like here because I feel the food is handled with respect. The saltiness is just right. Green onion is there with tofu. Just all so right. Maybe I’m a little biased just because the room was lighted with sun not like many other place that doesn’t let light come through window. It might be fengshui, dude… I’m happy for them that they have pretty good business while we were there. Customer were continuously coming for BBQ. I’ll come back to try guifei chicken. If you wanna try real Cantonese way, ask for a LiTang, daily soup(actually broth for American) as soon as you sit down. Drinking that before eating is the Cantonese way of eating. I believe that’s why girls in canton are always so skinny. Personally, I always request that and mark down for the Cantonese restaurants that doesn’t have it. Making broth is a big feature of Cantonese cuisine. Ask them if you don’t believe me.

Chinese foods are ok, service is great. Try the combo for only $ 9 per dish and you got complimentary soup and pot stickers for appetizer. Great value. Tea and rice are included, great value for ok quality flavor dishes. I liked the Chinese roast duck, it’s flavor is good and only $ 10 for half for a big duck, great value.

One of the worst dim sum I’ve ever had. I went with my family around noon on a Sunday. Place looks clean and servers were friendly. Rating is mainly based on the food: Shrimp dumpling– broke when I tried to gently pick it up with chopsticks. It looks and tastes like it’s been steamed too long. Shrimp was very dry and overcooked. BBQ Pork: Very dry cuts it was like eating jerky there was barely any flavor from the seasoning or marinade Roasted Pork: Equally as dry Roasted Duck: All right and not bad. Crispy skin and juicy meat Wonton Noodle: an average bowl of wonton noodle nothing particular They were out of the only two vegetarian dim sum items on their limited menu. Slim pickings and low quality compare to other better dim sum places a couple blocks down the street.

Most of the food was just OK. And the BBQ duck and pork were not good at all. Both tasted like we’re infused with black pepper. The pork was too chewy and dry. Service was really bad too.

We had almost given up in our search of Portland for delicious dim sum(and now we are a bit hesitant to expose this restaurant to other such dim sum scavengers). But this is a dim sum seeker’s paradise. Our hearts are at rest, and now we must nap. Delicious pork, shrimp, and mushroom rice noodles gave way to savory pork rib and stuffed ginger rolls, all while helping ourselves to generous portions of vegetable egg drop soup. The service could not have been more pleasant or friendly. Will make this hallowed ground our dim sum place of choice from here on out!

I had all but given up on good Chinese food in Portland, until I found this place. The food is very fresh and you can tell they care about the quality. It’s run by a lovely family who are all very friendly.

We ordered wonton soup, pot stickers, chicken fried rice and BBQ Pork pan fried noodles and all were very good. The portions are huge. Our order was enough for 4 people. We’ll definitely be back.

We originally went to the Vietnamese sandwich shop across the parking lot from Rainbow but they were out of sandwiches. So we decided to try this place. The sesame chicken was probably the best I’ve had. The Singapore Noodles were wonderful. Huge portions so don’t get an entrée for each person unless you want to take home a lot.

We went here because of the reviews for Wing Wa BBQ. It’s now the Rainbow Restaurant. I have been looking for Cantonese food like my grandpa and grandma used to make. Finally found it! Food was very tasty and the portions are enormous. After being disappointed time and time again in NE Portland, I finally got smart and drove south on 82nd Street. Lots of large groups. It’s not fancy, but the food was great.

Rainbow is not new within the Chinese community. They offer good quality, made from scratch food, especially Asian BBQ at a reasonable price. They have tasty and well portioned(prix fixe) meals, for 2 – 3 people $ 18 and 3 – 4 people $ 25. Not the spot for fine dining but a family friendly place, mostly small tables. Although their selection may be limited(dim sum), they offer fairly authentic dishes, seasonal greens and are not overly greasy compared to American Chinese food places.
